More than 2 decades ago, I am told that India and China are rising super powers. Some ten years ago, I have seen massive development in China when i visited my friend in Suzhou. Then now, they have elevated many people from poverty level, although there are still poor people in China. I didn't see that much significant change to India. I mean there are development there for sure, but it still feels largely the same and the progress doesnt seem as significant as China's. Maybe someone who has been to India can correct me if I am wrong.
@rakeshiyer56373 жыл бұрын
You are absolutely right. Religion and casteism is so deeply rooted in India, it even replaced development as voting standards. Politicians mint votes by polarizing people in the name of religion. Also less people pay tax. The govt prioritizes religion before development and are power hungry. There's too much corruption starting from ground level. Poor people don't consider that because they have no time to think about it. Its sort of luxury for them. Heck even quality education is luxury, basically a lot of basic necessities are luxury for poor people here. The middle class is absolutely fucked up by paying tax and getting abysmal benefits in return. I can go on and on and on but I'll try to stop here because KZbin comment section maybe insufficient to jot down everything in one go. Although India has made some improvements in the past, a lot of people are not still happy (you can check World Happiness Index and check where India stands) and situation is way too much diverse. Also there has been rising unemployment that lead to communal tension thus summoning social unrest often times. It's just too much and overwhelming. The thing is India will develop even more than what it is today but it'll take decades if not centuries.

@rakeshiyer56373 жыл бұрын
@@Aurica34 Perception is like 2 sides of a coin. A lot of peeps who managed to get out of India, who earned a quality life and got settled there (especially in the US), supports the govt here who are slowly acting like fascists. They boast about India being improving a lot and it'll be a superpower one day, blah blah blah BS. Had it been like the way they portray, why in the first place they migrated to the US? On the other hand they expect equal rights in the west. Pure hypocrisy. They be like they have jumped the ship and they don't want others (Indians) to follow their path giving them competition in the West. Speaking of salary, Indians live a wonderful life outside. My friends live in Belgium, Netherlands, Germany and the US and all earn 5 figures easily. Heck even I visited Germany for a business trip once for 6 months and I felt bad leaving that country. No doubt they are talented and because the West supports the talented to express their talents, they thrive well there. However, in home country, the case it totally different. Sub standard pay for even good technical guys because the demand is more and supply is less. Technical peeps are easily replaceable and given the fact that there's zero presence of IT labor laws, employees are truly fucked.

It’s as though extreme poverty has become the only effective form of population control. Also, it’s seems that a large segment of the population takes better care of the cows than each other. India will never rise above its problems until each Indian has access to affordable healthcare, clean municipal water, sewage, bathrooms for both toilets and bathing, electricity, education, and WiFi. This will enable entrepreneurship to produce things for both export, bringing cash into the economy, and a thriving internal economy. As more middle aged people earn income and have access to healthcare, they will begin to no longer count on large families which they can’t care for, hoping one of the children makes good and can care for them in their old age. People will begin to use birth control. As far as the hundreds of millions of pampered cows eating huge amounts of resources, the government should take the stance that no matter what your believe, all cattle not permanently cared for by private individuals are to be slaughtered to feed the poor of the part of the population that eats meat. The same with temples for monkeys, rats, and snakes. Unless these animals are in some way penned to separate them from the population, and privately cared for, they are to be destroyed. It’s easy to believe in something when you force others to pay for them. What I’m saying is that the Indian government has got to make the quality of life of its human population is only responsibility.

I don’t understand what has Westerners have against India taking care of cows! Because you eat their meat like primordial caveman doesn’t imply India would too. Cows and other animals can be taken care of with alleviating poverty, one doesn’t have to come in exchange of other like you have erroneously implied in your comment.

India's biggest problem is extremely high population. It is one menace that surpasses all other and unless it remains unaddressed not just by the government of India but mainly by its own citizens, it will keep haunting India, its citizen and the progress of nation and its citizens. Like the clean India movement that has peaked in India in last 7 years, India needs a similar movement to control population by every citizen. May be restrict marriages for next 10 years, it will bring some control on its exorbitantly huge, uncontrolled, and untrained population. A recently published book discusses many such issues and offers solutions to them. Every Indian must read that book, its title is: Achieving Maximum Governance to Transform India. The book is available on amazon India. A worth read for the government of India as well as every citizen and well wisher of India!

I appreciate your concern but do you know certain private hospitals in Delhi illegally took dead covid patients organs for organ transplant or what ever reason. Since burial is not permitted to family members. Private Hospitals made big business out of covid situation and government hospitals are always overwhelmed. It is very tough to be here. Modi is just showmen announcing lockdown giving people less than 24 hours. Millions of migrants had walked or rode bicycle for few hundred kms to 1000 kilometres or more..

Indians believe that democracy is everything, but India, the largest democracy, is making its people suffer. China, the largest dictatorship, has done much better than India in eliminating poverty. The reason why the Chinese government can win the support of 90% of the Chinese people is because the Chinese government has done a good job in taking care of its own people. 80% of China's population enjoys medical insurance and free treatment, free treatment of the COVID-19 virus. The poor can receive monthly government subsidies to meet their basic needs. If there is such a poor population in China, local officials will be held accountable first. It is useless to deny democracy, but there are pros and cons to holding elections every four years. People are always based on survival and improving living standards is our goal. Therefore, in the eyes of the Chinese, it is not important what system to use, but the system that suits them is very important.

India has fundamental issues that can be solved only by creative thinking and collective action. Issue #1: Education system - poorly funded. All post secondary education is in English language. Many schools provide education in english language that produce citizens who speak english "fast" without knowing what they are talking. There is lack of clarity in thinking and speaking among the educated people of India. Main culprit is the blind dependency on English language for education. Issue #2: Caste system - Most of the poor people in India are those from the lower castes. Those who are middle and upper castes completely ignore the poverty among the lower castes. Issue #3: Corruption at all levels of government - Only God knows how this can be solved ! India needs a benevolent dictatorship that can completely revise the education system, put an end to all corruption and discipline the people by harsh punishment for violating the law of the land, provide a very effective rural development program bringing infrastructure development and employment opportunities to the villages and completely erase the caste system from the society and the minds of the people.

Western media will go over and beyond to multiply India's crisis × 10, every American media is talking about poverty in India but not talking about millions of homeless people in their own country, people in America prefer to die rather then take medical care because health care is very expensive, India is big country with 1.3bn people so obviously there will lot of poor people, but you will not mention that in 2019 271 million people were lifted from poverty. So have some shame and be neutral.
