India’s First Aviation by JRD Tata, after 68 years return back Tata group

The airline flew back home to TATA’S on January 27, 2022
after nearly 69 years after its departure.
After Indian Independence in 1947, 99% of the airline was
acquired by the Government of India in 1948. In 1953,The
Government of India passed the Air Corporations Act and
Purchased a majority Stake in the carrier from Tata Sons.
Indian Airlines - Commenced Operation 1st August 1953
ceased operations 27 February 2011.
In 2007, The Government of India announced that
Indian Airlines would be merged into Air India Limited
