There were two surprises when Kashmir went to the polls in the fourth phase of India's general elections. One, the ruling Hindu nationalist party, the BJP, was absent on the ballots. Two, the turnout was high by Kashmir's standards. Stupidity at peak by the speakers. Kashmiris were against Abdullahs (NCP party) & Muftis (PDP party) who were robbing all the funds they were getting from Central government for 70 years. So they literally was no development for 70 years of Congress rule, so Kashmiri people lost interest in voting over the years. It is only after BJP came to power at Center, they abrogated Article 370 and actual Kashmir development took place by BJP. Kashmiris are huge fans of BJP & Modi. Very nice interview between correspondent Leela and election analyst Radha Kumar. But the anti-Modi bias of both have come through. Ms Kumar has made some comments on 'feelers' from Pakistan without any trace of irony, as of course, it is common knowledge that from the Pakistani side, ever since its humiliating defeats at PM Indira Gandhi's hands during the seventies and well before that, since the bloody partition itself, Pakistan has only been playing deadly games of terrorism against India, a constant biting at the ankles. Yes, BJP is a Hindu nationalist party, but it's the only one, apart from tiny, lion-heart Israel, taking a tough stance against islamic terrorism that has been holding the world to ransom over the last millennium and a half. you should hear Radha Kumars's past interactions on TV regarding her position on Kashmir. You will be able to conclude that she was completely clueless about what could bring change in Kashmir. She was living with the status quo and dishing out sweet nothings for more than 2 decades. 75 years of brain washing of the kashmiris is not going to go away in ziffy, small rivulets of change are happening and it will gather momentum and provide the new river of Hope and prosperity. Kashmiris will learn that the political class in the valley and centre took them for a jolly good hog wash for 6 decades. Much has been done and much more needs to be done. Ensuring that the govt. policies reach out to the last mile is a pre-requisite. The poor and the voiceless in kashmir have borne the brunt of decades of war and alienation.
