Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted Prime Minister Justin Trudeau with a hug, a day after embarrassed Canadian diplomats had to rescind a party invitation for a man convicted of attempting to kill an Indian politician during a visit to Canada in the 1980s.

Roger C he actually got as good a diplomatic reception as an overwhelming majority of visiting heads of state get here. Sure Modi didn't receive him personally but it's not a protocol and he does that rarely for a very few dignitaries who he has a great personal relationship with. The sole reason why the Indian and Canadian press made the entire "snub" and "cold shoulder" thing so big is because unlike other heads of state he was given the ceremonial reception at the end of his trip rather than the beginning. But that was only because his trip was 8 days long which is very long by any standards. I am not gonna lie Trudeau did have embarrassing moments though especially when that MP gave an invite to a murderer and when he literally dressed up in bridegroom costumes to attend the events. It was kinda funny. His wife looked gorgeous, however.
