'Transgender is not in Hindu culture' what utter rubbish is he talking. Transgenders were very well integrated in ancient Indian society. Even the Mahabharata talks about Arjuna who transforms into a transgender person in the last year of his exile. Then there was also Shikhandi. Somewhere down the line bcoz of foreign invasions, transgenders came to be looked down upon by the Indian society.

That is common to all religions of the world. Love transcends all. So when you hate someone based on race, caste, creed, religion, gender etc , you are going against your own religion. Also in our society we often see this as a common practice to consider them as goodluck charm and to bless newly born babies. If they are so wrong and should be excluded from society, why need them to bless your child. This just shows the hypocrisy of these people. This is just being oppurtunistic. All those people who use religion as their excuse for their arrogance need to face their own insecurities. Hinduism supports humanity what ever form it comes in - not Discrimination. All this cast creed nonsence that crept in is dying a slow death and that day isn't far off that every human will have the right to live their life their way. Transgender/ homosexuality etc are seen as a taboo in the West too (minus the big cities ) - I guess it's about time humans learn that every individual has a right to personal growth and fulfillment - be it as a gay person, transexual or as hero person . And before someone says it's unnatural - if it was - we humans wouldn't indulge in it ...PEACE..

I only want to comment to Lylax about one of the statements and I won’t respond any more. “Because they will rape in the restroom”. That is wrong, it’s been wrong, we have told you that it’s wrong, explained it and you still have it wrong... We are NOT saying that a transgender male using a female restroom, dressing room or locker room is going to rape a female... What we ARE factually saying, is that if/when you make it rule for him to use the ladies room, because he relates as a woman, you are opening the door to any man wearing jeans, because women do wear jeans, to feel like a woman, (whether they really do or not) so that they can walk straight into that bathroom, dressing room, wherever they see their prey go that gives them better opportunity, freely, without question, without repercussions and rape that child, teenager, mother, grandmother, whatever their fetish and their opportunity allows, walk right on out and go their merry way. Is anyone going to be paying attention to the guy, or what might be happening in front of them?? No! They will get conditioned to not look at anyone they pass, if rape behind a bathroom stall, we will be conditioned that oh someone’s sneaking one in before they go home, and you still won’t pay attention to whomever comes out of that stall. Going to be very hard to prove a he said/she said when both are allowed in the same place. Right now, at least they have the help of, if proving that the man was in the women’s bathroom, it’s easier to prosecute because he isn’t supposed to be there anyway. We don’t think transgender are going to rape our girls, but you are sure opening the door for so many more of them to be raped! That’s all

Good for the Kinar society. I'm a new Christian and the Baptist denomination I was briefly a part of denounces LGBT community. Coming from a more open minded and accepting United Methodist background I felt uncomfortable with suddenly being taught that LGBT community is a community of sinners deviating God's Word. I felt guilt when I'd meet gay or transgender people who I actually enjoyed interacting with because of what Baptists were trying to teach me. I don't know what's the Truth per God but I seriously doubt God wants me to be judgmental and be unloving towards anyone. Good to see this community is finally gaining the dignity and respect we all humans deserve.

Queen Awesome I am amazed by what is being taught in churches these days. There is no greater love than the love of Jesus and he didn't shed his blood on the cross for Christians alone. He shed his blood for mankind, those who think Christians inherit Jesus is wrong. Anyone who accepts Jesus is a believer and a christian ( as Christianity means following Jesus). With the new testament, old laws are filled with grace, otherwise if people lied or did any offence, they would have been killed ( if you read book of Deutornomy, most laws demanding stoning the person to death). If you look at the new testament, even the adulteress lady was forgiven, though that wouldn't have been the case if still old laws were in existence. In the book of Acts, chapter 8,verses 26-40, the Holy Spirit guided Philip to baptise the Ethopian man who was a transgender. Jesus doesn't differentiate between people, the problem today is that these days people don't depend on God. And there are others who don't read the bible so they are easily brainwashed. Galatians 3:28 says, " There is neither Jew nor Greek , there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you all are one in Christ Jesus ". Jesus loves everyone. If you refer new testament, Jesus hasn't criticised anybody, rather he has shown compassion towards everyone. Don't blindly follow anything, question, read the bible, seek answers. When in doubt, ask the Holy Spirit to guide you. Show this to your pastor, also talk to him. Tell him how you feel, there must be many others who must be put off by their preaching. Instead of brain washing and mud slinging they should be cultivating attributes of Jesus in people. Because, even if a person does miracles in Jesus's name, he won't recognise those people if they haven't walked in the righteousness of Jesus.

@@sneghal Jesus does love everyone but he HATES sin. It is sin that keeps us from Him. He is a Holy God. Acts 8:26-40 never said anything about that Ethiopian man being transgender you are perverting the bible! These people need deliverance to be free from these demons of transgender. Just like the so called straight men who sleep with them need deliverance. There is freedom from everything that separates us from God. You can be free from gay/transgender thoughts, emotions etc... You don't have to keep struggling with your identity or acceptance or lust because that's what this is. You think it's ok to look at someone rather it's the opposite sex or the same sex and have impure thoughts? That's a sin as well but know that what ever you struggle with Jesus can free you from it!

I feel if you want to be a female and born a male why not it's your body your life your not hurting anyone but I do believe whole heartedly that when a transgender falls in love or starts dating they have a moral obligation to tell there friend that they were born a male or female it is only right

The history of Transgenders comes from Ramayan (a long story can't write here) and also mentioned in Mahabharat a character named as Aravan infact it is said that Aravan is God of Transgenders. In India there is a ritual in which transgenders mourn on the day when Aravan was killed in Mahabharat battle. Hinduism is diverse and much liberal.. these things are criminalised only in abrahamic religion. It were British who fabricated our history and and made us feel shame on our own culture and tradition.

Sick of people doing what they want in the name of my culture and religion. Hinduism has always celebrated the third gender. Hinduism does not oppose homosexuality. Sex isn't taboo. Hinduism is considered the oldest religion. Transgenders and homosexuals were mentioned during ancient Verdic times and with Kama Sutra. Various communities have different opinions. This is a continuous universal issue. They have their own culture and locals don't bother them. She or he is also the extreme of her kind. Papers don't define you.

Why can’t *myself included* just love and not judge. Good and evil is in our control by our actions. We feed the good or evil that creates the situations in this world. The day we just stop creating labels and just treat the good as family we will conquer and control every evil in this world.

Epics like the Ramayana, Mahabharata and even temples of Khajuraho give enough peep into the ancient times of India to establish that homosexuality was in practice. If they caught they it was treated very minor offence In hindu community transgender always the part of the our society scripture recognized them as a third gender.. shikhandi is one of those example who change his sexuality and killed bhisma.. and western people who are commenting here oh,aah, very sad they should know that The British Raj criminalised sexual activities "against the order of nature", arguably including homosexual sexual activities, under Section 377 indian penal code which entered into force in 1861. It was similarly instituted throughout most of the British empire due to the Christian religious beliefs of the British colonial governments. So if you wanna criticize someone you can criticize the british government.. it is difficult to change 300 year old mentality of our people.. but it is time to embrace them.. our new generation should acknowledge them.. they are part of our society..

Zainab Salbi doesn't report that the first court in the world to recognize the third gender was Supreme Court of Pakistan back in 2012. It's because of this that India quickly followed or aped the move & acknowledged a third gender. So this is hardly a "movement"; more like a copycat move, a good one be it.

Everyone's Favorite Ghost yes I understand and when I was in middle school and high school my teachers used to say the same thing. But if you open a Wikipedia page, they always give the sources at the bottom. Which means I can use those sources. And when a Wikipedia page doesn’t give any source, it’s written st the top “beware, this page doesn’t give sources”. Then you know it’s not trustable! They just say that in school because they think children aren’t intelligent enough to check that.

There is two, but some are trans. Those “nonbinary” people are not real and neither is the stories in the Bible 🙄💯

The third gender hijra refers to hermaphrodites NOT transgenders which is different. HEMAPHRODITES/INTERSEX are born with both sexes and unfortunately in western societies parents have to choose the child's gender when the child is born. I say unfrotunately because you can never know how the child will turn out. These Hijras were respected because they are truly born with the two essences of male/female. Transgender is just that, "trans" you yourself are making the change. I'm just pointing out that these "gods" had NOTHING to do with transgenderism and EVERYTHING to do with INTERSEX/ HEMAPHRODITES.

Hinduism has accepted third gender or third nature and coined a new term " Tritiya Prakriti". (please Google). So the LGBTQ community has been a part of the hindu culture for millennia. No persecution and disdain. The kojjas or transgender people lived openly.
