Davud bro, the priest was blessing you with words called "Mantras" in Sanskrit,he said the mantras will protect you from eviln. The red paint that he put was red Sandalwood powder and yellow was again Sandalwood mix with turmeric, both are really nice for mind and body. That was purely safe.Hope you enjoyed them.

He was blessing you with mantras....also he was not angry but he was telling you that his forefathers are there from 400 yrs . They have been gifted a palace by king of kashi(Varanasi). Also he is getting rent worth of lakes. Rs. 100 is genuine charge for Tika. Also Tika is applied on forehead , upper and lower part of arms, ears,throat , chest. So he applied on all.

Davud! I went to Varanasi 5 years ago, it was the most amazing experience, and I look forward to going back. Your videos are excellent, watching your videos from Mackay, North Queensland, Australia. David did you go to Sonath, where Buddha held his first Sermon ? its not far from Varanasi, you have to visit Pushka too. There's also a amzing mountain to climb up to a temple, the view is amazing.

People donate as per their ability. So some donate 10, some 500, 1000 rupees, whatever they wish. This is actually a way of helping these pandits to sustain their life. They know all the rituals and dedicate their whole life into this. Of course, some of them earn good money. But that’s okay. That’s a profession.

That Yellow stuff is chandan which is used as tilak at Forehad that a part of Hindu Culture and it keeps your forehead Cool and devotional as Chandan has that Cooling and controlling power in the centre of nervous system.

Geologically, the ganges have the capability of purifying itself...the Oxygen levels are higher than other rivers. The bacteriophages cleanse the river...... man throws everything in rivers..thus polluting... governments need to work on providing thrash bins and encourage anti- pollution of lakes and rivers.
