As an Aussie, hearing your pain on what past Aussie teams have done in big games really crystallized why Australia wins big games. I sense that the fantastic, heavily favoured, Indian team would have preferred to play South Africa or New Zealand or The Rest of the World LOL. The mystique of the Australian team is that every other nation has been gutted by them in the big moments in the past. Australia played at their best and India did not, despite playing at their best for 10 previous games. Fear of the Yellow jersey made them change their template, and it cost them the final.

Let me explain some more... Afghanistan had Australia dead in the water 2 weeks ago in the most important game in their cricketing history as they were striving for a finals berth. In no universe should that brave Afghanistan team have lost that day with Australia in an "impossible" position. What Maxwell did to that team will exist in the DNA of Afghanistan for a generation or more, and they will fear Australia accordingly. Afghanistan is the latest to experience what the yellow jersey means on a cricket pitch. Australia does not always play at their best, but they have the weight of a history of wrecking everyone around them on their side when it matters. Sometimes mystique, superstition and history is enough to put the best on the back foot. It's not a boast, it's an observation. And it is why Australia won an improbable game with 7 overs and 6 wickets to spare.

@my_father_sorry_i_am_lying_now Do you want a tissue? We were ordinary at the start of the series but got better as the series went on. The cream always rises to the top, we did that. As to the pitch, Sharma said he would have batted so your theory dosen't stand up.

@@Gullytogully yep. That stat is certainly damning. What’s interesting is that in the media, before this WC, it was reported that one of key failures of past semifinal/finals was the cautious approach the Indian team took in those games. It was also mentioned that they would rectify it this WC by not changing their approach. That stat shows that the Indian team was once again were too cautious in those overs. Once the planned acceleration in the last 10 failed, the match was done.

The fact is the Indian team were so overhyped in the Indian media that Indians started to believe that they are a better team than they actually are. How many Indian players would get selected in the Australian team? Three at the very most. India have a good team, but they're far from the 1980s West Indies or 2000's Australia like Indians have been led to believe by their media. Moral of the story? You can start telling everyone how fantastic and unbeatable and dominant and wonderful you are AFTER you win a few tournaments, because until you do you're actually none of those things in reality. It's all smoke and no substance otherwise, and you look like fools.
@SilentHotdog28

I think Pat choosing to bowl might have been a mind game whether that was intended or not is a different story, but I think the Indians were shell shocked by Australia's willingness to bowl first and that might have caused plans fall apart and other plans to be forgotten about, not only that, but because of how effective Australia's bowling and fielding was, that would have further reinforced the negative thoughts in Indian players heads. "We can't score boundaries, they just stop everything, we can't risk hitting over the top, because we might expose our tail enders too early" So they did the safest option at every corner, but it wasn't enough.

Thanks boys from Australia, a great analysis and totally non parochial. Indian fans, take heart, your team is equal to any team and can beat any team on a given day. Today was Australia's day, tomorrow..who knows? Indian supporters, do you think a loss on the way to the finals would have been good for the team and let the lower order get some batting? It's hard though when you have the "fab five" I guess. Anyway, very good video.

Im begginning to think that the Aussie temperament which is a product of our culture, play a big part in our success in big events. We play the big moments with no fear of losing and are therefore able to execute our skills with a clear head.We also have perspective, an d seem to understand that it is a game and not a measure of our worth as a nation. An observation I have is that our crowds are quieter than the other nations who very outwardly display their passion in the stands whilst we casually chat about the state of the match, strategy, what we had for christmas dinner etc so on the whole; although we enjoy it; we're far more casual and relaxed about it.

Aussies can put pressure, their tail is not that long. Most of their bowlers can bat and score at least 25 to 30 runs. Indian tail was long and other than Bumrah and Shami, i dont anyone else can hold a bat. They can do singles but thats abt it. I think that was the main reason why KL rahul played so slow but even still if you dont attack the bowlers, they will get on top of you. Thats what happened.

as an aussie , you learn very early that its not over until its over. . i love the indian team and indians in general, but in sport you must not let the desire overtake the events. as much as you think you will win , and even though you have on paper the best team . each game is a new event. cricket is a game that involves the team , the pitch, the elements , atmosphere ,humidity etc. it is not a simple game, tactics , individual skills and decision making and more. cricket is not simply a game of bat and ball .its a game of problem solving. each game brings up a multitude of issues that the captain has to resolve. the team that does this better will win . its not the best team per sae but the most adept at changing plans and overcoming unexpected crises . india has the better team in batting and bowling but it was favourite and that leads to an unconscience feeling that you will win.

As an Indian when I asked my friends what the outcome of the final would be They all spoke emotionally and said India will surely win. I said “ Australia know how to win Big Finals” besides India had taken for granted they already won the cup. Complacency was factor. Having said that Why isn’t no one discussing why did ICC allow such poor standard and quality of a pitch in a final where the cup is a lottery with the coin That’s a shame for all those 22 men who give their best to prove their best. ICC is ruining the sport Period.

The Indian team and BCCI chose the pitch for the semi and final. The ICC and BCCI agreed on the pitches before the tournament but the BCCI decided to change up the pitches. They wanted a worn pitch instead of a fresh pitch and it backfired. The ICC was supposed to be in charge of the pitches but the BCCI decided to influence the pitch selection and preparation. The groundsman for the semi said that he was under orders from the BCCI. They laid a trap for Australia but fell in their own trap.

It was travis head brilliance with bat on the given day lead Aus to victory.. If you observe the trend in this world cup in league stages apart from first 3 games and eng game.. Its induvidual brilliance of one man show or opening batters have given victory rather a collective effort as a batting unit has performed.. Difference between ind and aus side in batting one man change the complexion of the game is observed.. Whereas ind performs as a unit in batting.. Aus looked vulnerable against RSA.. As nobody turned up for individual brilliance rather cameos and tail helped them cross the line.. Aus relies on individual brilliance and on the given day they steal the show... Reliability is a question and vulnerability exists in Aus batting.. But on the given day they have performed is what matters end of the day.. On consistency basis ind is on top.. Be it 2015, 2019 or 2023... Side with most matches won... But 2023 looked very formidable for ind as it was all bases covered team with conventional style of odi.. 6 batters and 5:bowlers and one all rounder in it.. 10/11 and 9/11 is on consistency basis.. But on a given day of final aus was better and they won the title.. Congratulations🎉

India's middle order felt like they had to go really defensive to protect the tail. With early wickets and a weak tail the knew they couldn't afford to go hard and get out. India only lost early wickets before against England and that put the breaks on hard. I think the game plan relied on it being a 4-6 wicket innings.

Thanks for watching! Was drawing a parallel on how eerily similar Australia’s current campaign was to 1999 when they lost to Pakistan in group stages and then completely outclassed them in the final. Always save their best for last! Same thing happened here with India at the receiving end.

Long Indian tail and useless Jadeja who can never bat if his life dependent on it- this led to Indian defeat. India should thoroughly introspect and build a strong lower middle order and then come to play in ICC tournaments. Till then, don't expect to win shit.

Now, we Indians should think about India's chance of winning the WC in South Africa. BCCI tricks of pitch swapping and rigging tosses won't work. The conditions are extremely suitable for RSA, Aus, Eng and NZ requirements. Yet another disaster is waiting in the World Cup 2027😂....

I try to listen to the Indian opinions but you guys are impossible to understand for an Australian. Why not mark your you tube thumbnails Indian? Tired of clicking on video's with English text that end up being some Indian dialect.
