This is the most dramatic test match series I have ever seen. 7 first choice players not playing, hurt, bruised ,coming back from being 36 all out in the first test, captain going home after the first test, hostility from the crowds. So proud of our Indian team, the way every single player raised their hands saying “ I ll stand up for my team today” is just beautiful and brings tears into my eyes. People said this New Indian team does’nt have enough match winners, well thats not the case. Its not easy to appreciate this win if you are a new fan. But I remember a time (sachin,dada etc) when we were expected to lose to australia even at home. Most teams were. Then there was a time (Dhoni, yuvi etc) when we became a team who won matches and not just hearts. It became difficult to challenge India at home. We could beat them but Australia in Australia was still the kind of challenge that was considered insurmountable at times. As Kohli said, "when you go to aus, you dont just play against the 11 men, but the stadium, fans, media, pundits and perceptions." The kind of defiance that this team has shown is ridiculous. Went to Australia, things went badly, players injured, racist chants, relentless sledging and mind games. This team not only beat them, they beat a full strength aus at Gabba. And even then for most parts of the day, we were never really sure whether India would lose, win or draw the game. All this in a stadium where Australia hasn't lost for 32 years. For the whole day, I was frantic, nervous, tense, till Pant hit that winning four. Watching him carry the Indian flag around the ground, watching Rahane ruffle his hair and laugh, is what sports is all about no?"

Little bit of education: this wasnt a one day game, where scoring 300+ in an innings of 50 overs (of 6 balls each) would be considered high scoring. They had 98 overs to make those runs. But in the context of 5th day of a test match, where the pitch has been worn down by previous 4 days of play, this was still a herculean task. So you are right that it was high scoring, but not for the reason you thought it was.

If the batsman is holding the bat and the ball hits his glove, yes it's an extension of bat and he will be given out if caught. If the hand is off the bat and then the ball hits the glove, it will be not out.

With more than half the team facing injuries, and still come up with this result (2-1) , its just Unreal and Majestic and that too with Young players. Not just a series victory... Not just a first victory at this ground after so long... Not just beating Australia in their home ground which has never happened... One other thing is that India were humiliated in the first test, getting all out for 36. They then turned it around in an unbelievable manner to win the series 2-1. Additionally, Kohli, our best batsman was unavailable after the first game. About 10-12 players were injured. Our playing XI from the first and last test had just two people common. The bowling attack fielded in the last game had 10-13 wickets between them. To put things into perspective, Australia’s attack have a combined 1000+ wickets!

Two of the greatest victories against Australia. One in India about 18 years back when we won after a follow on. Then hero was VVS Laxman. This time around arrogant Aussies where beaten in Australia and that too in Brisbane. When the day began on the 5th day, I was hopeful of a draw. That we managed to beat them by scoring 300+ runs and that too against one of the best bowling side is mind boggling.

The inside joke is While rishabh pant was batting in 2018 series, the Australian captain tim paine tried to sledge rishabh pant just to distract him or to make him laugh or to just make him loose his focus saying -" do you mind baby sitting my kids as i plan to take my wife for a movie". Rishabh pant went on to make a century and india won that game. After that the australian captain invited the indian team to his home for dinner and there pant did baby sit his kids. And hence the joke.
