Wish previous governments, specially UPA in their 10 years between 2004-14 had shown such foresight & laid such emphasis on Infrastructure to improve logistics. Former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee for one had that vision back in his tenure where he started projects like Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojna to improve road access to villages, started the Golden Quadrilateral, projects like Bharatmala, Sagarmala (yes both Bharatmala & Sagarmala were started under ABV's tenure & stalled under UPA & again brought back under NDA). The economic growth was superb in those years (between 2002-08, we had average 8% growth), even the private investments were at an all time high between 2001 & 2008 (before Global Financial Crisis) but unfortunately India didn't capitalise on it as much as we are doing now. Post 2009 also we achieved higher growth but it won't be wrong to call it Artifical Growth as those were mainly due to UPA government giving unrestricted credit which ultimately led to the twin balance sheet crisis which our banks faced between 2017 & 2019. Till 2008 we were genuinely doing great. Now again we are seeing an uptick cycle and I genuinely pray irrespective of whoever comes to power in 2024, they focus on Infrastructure & less on socialism. If only we would have taken these steps 15-20 years ago, by 2015 or so we would have become a Manufacturing powerhouse in various sectors (not as big as China but surely a major manufacturing powerhouse like what Vietnam is now becoming, we are still atleast 5-7 years behind that).
