The Right and Left in India - Dr. David Frawley - India Inspires Talks

Күн бұрын

In this Talk, Dr. Frawley clearly explains the intellectual roots of "The Right" and "The Left" in India. He states that in India, the political terminology of right and left is defined by Marxists, who like to call anyone that opposes them right-wing or fascists. According to their view anything traditionally Hindu would have to be right-wing on principle, just as only their views are deemed progressive, even if supporting Stalinist tactics. This means that in India such subjects as Yoga, natural healing, vegetarianism and animal rights are all automatically right-wing because they are causes of the Hindu mind, with antecedents in ancient Indian culture. Great Hindu yogis and sages from Shankaracharya to Sri Aurobindo are classified by modern Marxists as right-wing, if not fascist.
However, the Indian left is mainly the Old Left, emphasizing a failed communist ideology and state economic planning such as dominated Eastern Europe in the decades following World War II and took it nowhere. It wreaked the same havoc with the economy and educational systems of India and kept the country backward. Indian communists are among the few in the world that still proudly honor Stalin and Mao (while warning of the danger of Hindu fundamentalism)!
About Speaker : - Dr. David Frawley (Pandit Vamadeva Shastri) D. Litt., is a western born teacher or guru in the Vedic tradition. In India, Vamadeva is recognized as a Vedacharya (Vedic teacher), and includes in his unusual wide scope of studies Ayurveda, Yoga, Vedanta and Vedic astrology, as well as the ancient Vedic teachings going back to the oldest Rigveda.
Vamadeva is a recipient of the prestigious Padma Bhushan award, one of the highest civilian awards granted by the government of India, “for distinguished service of a higher order to the nation,” honoring his work and writings as a Vedic teacher, which he received in March 2015.

The amount of damage done to India and Hindus by the Congress, the Nehru family (the worst of them being Nehru and Sonia Gandhi) and the leftists is mind boggling. There is something seriously wrong with the country if the people can't see the consequences and still support these groups. Congratulations to Dr. Frawley in explaining all of this in such a lucid way.

Clarity and conviction are the two forces that make this great talk admirable. His conclusion about reforming the political practices world over through Dharmic and Karmic practices of the politicians world over, particularly in India, is the last nail on the coffin of Communism, a blunder that mankind was unforgivably driven into by the ideologues, during the three quarters of the twentieth century. One must be grateful for the academic spirit of free thinking of the learned speaker that is sadly lacking in the academia of today’s India.

Is there a "demographic emergency"? Yes, there is, but it's a worldwide emergency, as we human are becoming too many and are consuming too many resources and polluting enormously. The result of this could be massive famines, wars and environmental disasters. No divine power cannot save us but strong will to put the ancient teachings in practice in all their width and depth, both in inner practice and social actions to preserve what is wholesome and really necessary for World peace and prosperity.

I have an anglicised friend born in India Bengal who lives here in Australia, and he behaves exactly in the way that David Frawley mentions at 11:45 minutes when he refers to Indian literary figures who adopt Anglo culture as something progressive and high class. He's actually spot on about how whitewashed Indian intellectuals turn to the Bible, Shakespeare, Marx, and Western literary figures believing they are paragons of high culture. My anglophile knew nothing of the Vedic and Indic Corpus, but was quite proudly an Anglophile. Growing up with Western Literature has shown me only one perspective of things, and I'm very familiar with the romanticism that my Anglophile friend has engaged himself in. But after discovering alternative ideas, and higher spiritual principles in Eastern Sanatana Dharma I came to realise that there were things which surpassed the inferior ideas in Western thought. I found it quite sad, because the New Testament in ENGLISH and Shakespeare is nothing compared to the spiritual wisdom of the Upanishads, and the Bhagavad Gita. The teachings of Ramanujacharya, Adi Shankara, the Sanskrit Language, he has no interest in. Very sad. I could give less than two sh!ts about Shakespeare. I have Bhagavad Gita.

Thank you, Dr Frawley, for this important and instructive talk, especially your dissection of the differences between left/right-wing in the West and in India. One difference of opinion I have with Dr Frawley is his blanket correlation between the Western Leftists-Liberals and Hindu right wing on certain ideas, and his blanket bracketing the western right wing of today as they were in the past. While yes, Christianity continues as the basic weave, but the Neo-Right that is emerging now, in Europe and in the US (especially them opting for Trump) is a new more libertarian right wing - it is a pushback against the Left which seeks to do the same thing it does in India, that is, de-racinate/de-culture people from their own roots. It is a pushback against the growing overbearing dictatorial tendencies and intolerance of the Left. It’s a pushback against the Left using corrupt means, such as the immigration policies, leftist economic policies, increasing govt control policies, etc. to gain and stay in power. Today’s western Neo-Right is trying to do what the Indian right wing wants to do - get people back to their cultural roots. In the West, it’s about reflecting the values that European thinkers strove for; establishing the rule of law, the values of liberty, free speech, and, most importantly supporting the Working Class People - the strata that the elitist Left of today have abandoned, while opting for identity, gender politics and so on. So, in fact, the Hindu right wing of today has more in common with the western Neo-RightWing of today. What Dr Frawley overlooked, or didn’t think about, is that today’s Western Leftists are anti-Hindu and pro-Islamists.

Sir your speech was great, without going into the exact chronology of past, Mahatma Phule emerged in my mind who took into western philosophy and was influenced by the early western writers like Thomas Paine, latter Ambedkarji, called upon the Dalit’s to leave the villages and come to city, and give up caste based skills and acquire non caste based skill, he also said dalits should give up their caste based baluth rights i.e. asking for excess food, used cloths, carrying and eating dead animals from higher caste households, these rights where dived and specified as per sub caste, parallel to this time of history bapuji was trying to homogeneous caste system, but it doesn't look to have happened, what a shudras or ati-shudras where undergoing in the villages did not change, Bapuji was propagating restoration of Village economy and wanted it to restore. The idea and benefits of Dharma and karmayog benefits, can never reach any Dalits in a village surrounding, unless in rare cases like kabir from lower weaving cast, Tukaram a Vani (shopkeeper) or Gadge Mharaj a dhobi ( washerman) as v don't have legacy of literateness like bhramin. The Brahmin in villages will nonverbally discriminate, like the way they give Prasad or refer to us in Pvt conversation, as their is minimum contact as Brahmins are never in any way homogeneous with the other community in villages, either their contact points with village society are in temple’s or they come into mainstream society in present times as RSS pracharak, in rare occasions they manage shops in villages, or they educate themself out of the villages, and we never see them their after. The real conflict and oppression in villages comes from the immediate higer sub caste according to hierarchy, be it a superior sahtirya oppressing a inferior shatriya or bottom line ATI Sudra by a higer sub caste of shudra. When I first voted for BJP, it was because I felt Cong and N.C.P where selectively creating riots and where communal. After voting BJP I had a perception that Pramod Mahajan & Nitin Gadkari where as corrupt as congress and created riots when it benefited them only difference was congress carried a secular façade. During Modis election, I did not vote to any party, as far as RSS their agenda on minority and caste is not clear to me, do they condemn caste system and want caste less society. If yes what’s their white paper, having said that I have more affinity towards Sudershanji and I feel he is the elder of my lineage, these kind of affinity I never feel for any congress or Bjp member, but he is a elder who I believe will rub my concerns as non-issue, I believe if I would want his advice. My best friend in city is from higher caste of another region, I don't have any friend of higher caste in my village, I am from land owning caste higher to us are Brahmins they don't Aquint village squares and village bars, after school very few of my Brahmin fellows have taken priesthood or into shop keeping most of them have left villages, only Brahmin’s other than priests are RSS pracharak who have social contact with me, other than Brahmins the all other caste share the village bars in spite of a internal dynamics of hierarchy these bar patron’s arrive at a homogeneity when in bar. Dharma and Karma yoga are unachievable in discriminative caste system. Sir you have ignored y we voted Congress for so long, was it the best party no, it was the best amongst the rascals we believed, but did v have a option, I did not vote modi because, forget Godara, I don't trust solution in Modi's development will redeem majority who are poor. About animal rights the western librals eat poultry, cattle can be compared to gold for Indian farmers, it bails them out during crises, when cow sale was banned thousands of cow where abandoned by farmers, it did not evoke the spiritual feelings that I thought Hindus should have felt if the decision was popular. Concluding migration has given anonymity of caste and kind of liberated me and the images of Hinduism has to liberate itself clearly from caste oppression and help me to embrace Dharma and Karma yoga. This will help me stop looking at western ideas for redemption. As swami Vivekananda said remove the costume of caste as caste is not part of the religion, and Ambedkarji said annihilate caste, once we liberate Hinduism from caste it will be easy to look at islam as our own, as my favourite saint says, “Mohammed- the Messenger of equality. You ask, "What good can there be in his religion?" If there was no good, how could it live? The good alone lives, that alone survives”, we got attracted to left liberalism for a reason sir.

Interesting that Dr. Frawley makes many of the same complaints about the Western left that many Westerners make. The secular left is really a religion and when you view it as a religion then their behavior and dogma makes sense. They define themselves by what and who they hate, not who and what they love. Therefore anyone who loves and who does not hate is the enemy of the left. Much the same as Islam constantly defines itself not by what it is but by what it isn't and by what it hates. Bottom line is that those who are hated by the left and by Islam need to become allies against these two hateful ideologies.

That itself talks volumes about the change in their attitude towards indigenous culture just like it happened in the case of Post Mao Chinese communists.

How they shut down Sterlite copper plant that turned India into a copper importer from a leading exporter and benefited China. There's a tweet of your leader whatever his name is some Yechury where he's standing with Xi and it's written that he'll work with his boss or maybe leader (I don't remember the exact term) for ideology. This was rambling dribble, Mao moved China in a direction whereby they have left behind the Century of Humiliation whereas the current rightwing BJP/RSS has no goal or plan to move its citizens out of poverty (reading the Gita won't accomplish anything). Also India as a member of the Quad is still colonized so I'm not sure how Mr. Frawley's viewpoints helps in developing a mind separate from its colonizers. Mr. Fawley says much but his talking points reveal nothing except reinforce the current Hindu flex and bias (i.e. India is great etc. (BTW there was no India prior to the British))

Leftist/modern intellectuals/western educated indians dint blindly followed western ideologies or principles , they blended west and east ideologies according to there context and requirement .They fought against colonialism and countries own upliftment. Indians just took education to increase awareness among themselves not to get blindly driven by western ideas , they had there own consciousness , they wer motivated according to reason , truth and science .They wanted change in religion for sake of social comfort and countries adavantage. They wer never against there own religion or culture , they wer against ills in native culture like exploitative caste hierarchy , social injustice , degarded women status , unequal rights , superstition ,female infanticides . They wer never anti hindus , religion was never targetted , they just targetted undesired by-products of religion. They just wanted to weed out social evils they fought against colonialist , imperialist and capitalist . They never rejected vedas and upanisads ,they wer against social coercion due to religion . They reformed social and religious life for socio cultural regeneration of india . They are not cultural colonoalist.

Of course Modi talks also about poor, but doing against them. All the environmental regulations are violated. More capitalism is a disaster for any country in the world. Modi also approaches wrong concepts of growth, at-least not dharmic and gandhian. Gandhi would have removed modi from PM post for making a statute of worth 2000 crores of Patel. Even the taxes are increased. The WTO GATS education pact was silently singed. It is stupidity.

Considering GDP as growth will lead us to a disaster. Please don't praise BJP or any political party, modi also threatened and asked to close GreenPeace and Fossil Free...! Modi also had collaboration with Karnataka CM who was also into mining scams. All political parties in India are against development of humans in India.

I can look at the way you speak and tell how this country ran. What school of thoughts we are influenced by, i understood the partwhere you said the colonial history writing but a left tradition which only like people went outside to study i assume dr ambedkar, nehru , patel...many more but Ambedkar had his agenda based on how he was treated, Nehru was from much more wider perspective as like a world leader (A leader of vision which is not narrowed by culture or religion, pure human spirit if he is left it was good to have for young India) and Patel more leaned to the Hindus for natural reasons of his upbringing and the place he grew. if at all you are supporting BJP , and you so interested in Hindutva as a nationality then you are in wrong place, we been living in this country for quite few years without any communal war, all of a sudden a foreigner came to support BJP intellectuals the so called the Bakths supporter, we clearly know you been paid or allow to make money out of it which you can, but when you say left people burned buddha books, again you are proving to be a twisted person, according to what we know about the ethnography, there was jains and Buddhists, there were nothing called Hinduism, old people in india seems to have no sense other than the scarifies, Yagas, and hierarchy social system, what are you up to swamiji....have ever read any part of Alberuni or Megasthenes.....you are not doing justice as a public intellect, you are being one sided and trying to divide india ....we have only history that started 1947 , we know that is the only history that save all Indians from people like you! the kind that of people who would lie about anything and try an rewrite history for their fundamentalist idea ! you get no respect!

Nehru was the worst curse that happened to India after 1947. He had no understanding of India's ancient dharma & karma. Was only interested in continuing the British imperialism in disguise.
