Tejas uses best in class Israeli made electronic warfare suits and radars. And the engine is also made in the USA by General Electric. GE is a very reputed company to develop engines. Russian air platforms are nowhere close to USA's. USA made the best stealth fighter of all time, the F22 Raptor, back in 2005. Russia is still struggling to build up a squadron of Su-57s. We are using American platforms like C17 Globemasters and C130 J Super Hercules which have better availability rates than Russian Ilyushin strategic heavy lifters. For maritime patrol we use P-8 Poseidon made by Boeing. We use Apaches as our heavy attack helicopters. Our Navy uses MH-60 R helicopters for anti-submarine warfare. The Navy is planning to ditch Russian Mig-29K and replace them with French Rafale M.

They make their own chips, electronic PCBs, computing devices, optronics and weapon grade machinery. They may not as yet be on par with Western synergy but they are definitely in a higher technological threshold than most other countries in Asia and many countries in Europe. They also have infrastructure and skilled manpower and an education system focussed on necessary " practical applications and technological solutions".
