If u want single engine we already had 1, developing one more. Why we need new one. Kf 21 or rafale or fa 18. Because these engines r producing or offered to produce, viable to existing fleet. Kf 21 ,fa 18 radars r much more superior.

SAAB should be able to easily deliver 1st of 16 flyway GripenE for MRFA in 3 years since it only has a few dozen order backlog for Brazil and Thailand - so the real challenge will be delivering the 1st Make In India GripenE just after the 16th imported GripenE is delivered...

What I had came to know is, Rafael uses Gallium Arsenide based radar systems while rest of world including India is moving towards Gallium Nitride which is more efficient and powerful compared to Gallium Arsenide. Gallium Nitride will come in Rafael F5. So even if India apply for orders today, we will get our Rafael after atleast 4 years as allot of backlog is going on. And even after then as well, we will get Gallium Arsenide based Radar which will be outdated by then. Hence Rafael is good for today but if not upgraded, will be outdated.

More efficient GaN semiconductor with superior power density to GaAs is far more complex to repeatedly and affordably mass produce - especially for Fighters where thermal management is already challenging with little space for heat exchangers to evacuate the additional heat that comes with that additional power in small airtight Fighter radome - so expect GaAs radar to be around for while...

Getting GaN AESA from the LRDE lab to a production ready Virupaksha for Su30MKI is one of the reasons for no Virupaksha promised since 2014 - known as spec creep where Tech evolves faster than Development - same reason 5G AMCA must now be 5.5G then 6G by the time it's production ready...

Selecting Gripen would be beneficial to IAF. The decentralized operational infrastructure and philosophy would bring about resilience to concentrated attacks on forward airbases. Most see Gripen as competition for Tejas Mk2. I actually think it would be a catalyst as there are a lot of similar components and subsystems that can be used on both aircraft and manufactured on large scale here in India. When done with the order for 114 aircraft, the Gripen factory could easily be converted to manufacture Tejas Mk2.

More than a fighter jet India Need Jet Engines My suggestion would be to buy EJ 200 with Know How and develop future variants based on it. With that Know we can fix Kaveri derivatives and use it in Tejas program. Parallely develop ORCA / TEDBF with kaveri engine derivatives so all the problems will be resolved. Bottom-line instead of spending huge sum of $20+ billion on MRFA spend $5-7 billion in 36-40 jets and spend $3-4 billions in ORCA and $4-5 billions in EJ 200.

Out of curiosity as India is building new infrastructure for military aircraft such as its new bases, DOES INDiA have any plans or designs to use the systems of roads as the efficiency of both Drones and Missiles can destroy military bases and whatever assets are on the premises. Having this capability alongside a hidden bunker system with weapons and the ability to conceal the military aircraft and other assets would potentially be a great game changer to have and use in a future war

No critical Technology is being transferred.. neither the metallurgical knowhow is being transferred.. the 20% critical stuff would ne imported from GE only.. and the TOT is only given to Govt Companies (so pvt sector shall anyway be out of foreign tech transfers).. If money is not a factor, then we should go for Dassault Rafale F4 with assembly plants in India 🇮🇳 with production rates of 24 jets per year. Otherwise we should go for Eurofighter Typhoon Tranche 5 with full ToT and source codes. In addition Su-57 stealth fighter jets. Basically for MRFA the choice is between Dassault Rafale F4 and Eurofighter Typhoon Tranche 5. Saab JAS 39 Gripen E and F-21 are out as they are single engine fighter jets being too light for MRFA as well as prone to American arm twisting. MiG-35 is out as it is not a capable fighter jet. Su-35 too is out as India already has similar fighter jets viz. Su-30MKI. And F-15EX and F/A-18E are out too as India already has similar heavy class fighter jets viz. Su-30MKI and not to mention American arm twisting risks. Basically India is also looking for medium class fighter jets like Rafale and Typhoon.

@@rakesharamaiah2737 Are you serious? Do you even know how much russian jets crashed in our force? More than 400 crashes. No western jets ever crashed like this russian jets. Russian engines are notorious for high maintenance. This cannot be changed with indian maintenance, because it is the quality of russian tech. So far Russia did not allow us to upgrade to Super sukhoi, not they gave any engine tech. Lets wait for Su 75 to come, it is only on paper. Jet is more than engine.

Indians are very good at math-they even invented zero (though I’m not sure if that’s true). Now, here’s a simple math question: if your neighbor spends three times more money on weapons, and for the same type of weapon, they can get it for 3-5 times less than what you pay, how much more advanced will their arsenal be compared to yours after 10 years?

Yes but that neighbor you mention is dealing with multiple enemies and very powerful ones at that (America and Japan).

Yes,any US engine will compromise both the Tejas programmes and this one if the US as it threatens from time to time, sanctions. The LCA programme suffered for years thanks to sanctions, have we not learnt from the past? Either a French limited no of Rafales, plus more Russian fighters is the answer. The AMCA will never arrive in service before 2040, therefore an acquisition of 2/3 ,SU-57s to keep up with the Chins, more sqds. of new Super- Sukhois, and extra MIG-29s available, can be upgraded at 1/3 the cost of old M2Ks adding numbers to existing types,is the answer . If a brand new type is needed, the SU-35 sanctions free, single pilot too, will be both the cheapest and easiest to induct with existing types along with the Rafale, though much more expensive. Despite this, at least another 24 Rafales should be acquired for a total of 60+, which will have a few extra per.sqd. for reserves.

Gripen is good and quality OEM of fighter jet, but they are always under US umbrella 🏖️, they cannot take their decisions on own as part of NATO, in any adverse situation US will pressurize gripen to not supply spare parts and logistical support is the only reason where gripen is behind in MRFA race.
