Medam how I become chief conservatar of forest

Through UPSC Indian forest service exam you will get inducted at level 10 i e. DCF trainee.After completion of training you will be promoted as Deputy Conservator of forest ( Level 11,in 4 years ) . After 2 promotions, you will become Conservator of forest( 13 A) and On further promotion, you will become chief conservator ( Level 14 ).

Yes ,you have to pass a physical Walking test 25 km in 4hr for Male candidate and 15 km in 4hr for female candidates. You will go through this test after final results .you will get one additional chance to if you fail in first round.This test is conducted at National Zoological park ,Delhi

Yes you can. MoEF&CC declare cadre wise vacancy for each year and they also bifurcate vacancy based on category into insider and outsider. You will require insider vacancy seat to get your home cadre. Insider to outsider ratio is maintained to 1:2 level in the overall cadre strength in general but not in a particular year's vacancy.

Which cadre is best for ifos

Cadre selection is highly subjective based on your preferences. Some of the criteria you can keep in mind can be: 1. Forest cover of the state 2. State cadre management 3. Proximity to your native state Some good cadre according to these are MP, Maharashtra, Telangana, Chattisgarh, Karnataka. Though it highly depends on your personal preference.

IFS' MEANS Indian foreign service , IFOS means Indian forest service,

The DoPT uses the same annotation for both the services. Since the domain for services are very different, it does not create a problem either. To distinguish between the two, UPSC uses the annotation IFS for Indian Foreign Service and IFoS for Indian Forest Services.
