Yes, pulses are generally allowed to be brought into the United States from other countries, but they must be declared to customs officials and they might ask you to through it away. I would suggest dont welcome unnecessary chaos at the airport by carrying items you might be questioned for. Pulses are easily available here, you can get it easily.

Emirates is super comfortable, they’ll handle. Just book wheelchair for your kids in advance as I’m assuming that you’ll have a layover at DXB, there you have to walk a lot. So book those prams in advance.
