Eunice, you are the MVP! Watching this and some of your other travel cooking videos definitely saved my family some money on a weeklong vacation. We take this vacation every year and always struggle not to eat take out or packaged snacks the entire time. By the end of the week, we all feel ready for some healthy, fresher options when we get back home. This time, I prepared with my handy spice rack in a bag modeled after yours, collapsible electric kettle, mini waffle maker and mini cooking utensils. Just fabulous! With these items and the microwave and toaster in the hotel room, I cooked hamburgers, chicken, potatoes, noodles, frozen veggies, and made the best egg, cheese and bacon sandwiches. Thank you for showing your audience that eating both on a budget and in a healthier manner is possible with just the right tools. As a hapa gal myself, I really love the bento videos. The one with your nightmare travel adventure with your dad was so endearing and the bento gear were so familiar, especially the fabric pouches reminding me of many childhood gifts from my relatives in Japan. (Side note: how handy are chopsticks to bring along on trips? Love that they pack easily and are so useful.) Thanks for being a fabulous and thoughtful planner and traveler. Over our vacation, I kept saying Eunice elevated our annual vacation so kudos to you!

Great little kit! I always bring my immersion heater and a stasher bag, and I recently replaced my Stanley 2 cup cook mug with a collapsible X-set pot. I have been in that situation, in a foreign country and too ill to leave my hotel room (I got very ill when I was in Saigon, and my doctor back home later said he thought I'd had SARS). Luckily, I did have my Lifestraw filter bottle with me, I never travel without it (even in some parts of the US, water from a fountain can be questionable, and many of the First Nations reserves where I attend powwows do not have safe water).
@TheoryofSimple7 ай бұрын
We should be travel buddies! I also carry a water bottle with a filter all the time! You just never know! Even in the US I carry a water bottle with the filter because I have been using the filtered water at the airport and it taste like chlorine so I know that they’re not cleaning the filters so now I filter all of my water that I get from any sort of public fountain.

Another great video, Eunice! I have a few of those items and just used the stainless steel collapsible cup on a camping trip. To go with it (to steep my tea and keep it hot), I used a silicone cup cover, which looks just like the drain cover you showed, but smaller. Without it, my hot liquid got cold real fast. I agree about being careful of that bottom part when having hot liquid in there. Ouch! For my pet sitting gigs, I got myself a collapsible kettle, so I can have quick hot water anytime (which I think you've showed in past videos?), but I also have the immersion style, which I use for travel. It's so fast! Great idea to use the silicone pouch! The spice container idea is awesome! Great for the camp gear bin too! 🙂

Question! I also bought the same Sea the Summit cup, made the same mistake this morning in my hotel! Now I'm trying to realize the benefit of the stainless steel? I also have their older mug that was better at protecting against heat and would love to learn the difference for use purposes.😊
@TheoryofSimple7 ай бұрын
If you have the older gray mug from Sea to Summit, you’ll notice that when you put hot liquid into it it gets a little bit soft to hold it and then it gets warm because you have to squeeze it a bit. The stainless steel on the mug gives the cups and rigidity so that it holds up to heated liquids.. I think the mistake they made on this was not putting any of the silicone on the bottom where you would put your little finger.

Liquids up to 3.4 oz or 100 ml. Food, if it is solid, isn't a problem.
@TheoryofSimple7 ай бұрын
Yes! Your liquids have to follow the TSA rules for liquids which is 3.4 ounces or 100 mL and by the way if your bottle is larger than that, they will not allow it so even though you might have less liquid in the bottle, the container itself has to be 3.4 ounces or less or 100 mL or less in order to get through TSA and if you do not have TSA pre-check you will have to put that in a quart size bag with your other liquids😊 solid food is always allowed to be on the plane however in certain countries, they may not allow you to leave the plane and enter into the country with food so just make sure you finish it or throw it out before you go through customs😊

@@girlsglitterngiggles yes, once you go through security at your home airport and get on the plane, you are allowed to have this food with you however, if I’m going to be landing in a country, especially ones that have low tolerance for food restrictions then I will either eat everything I have and wash all of my containers out in the bathroom or if I don’t eat it all I will throw it away and wash all of my containers out before I go through customs and immigration. How does Security let you pass with metal spoon/fork and stabby chop sticks??
@TheoryofSimple7 ай бұрын
If you go onto the TSA website, they will tell you what they allow and chopsticks are allowed as our spoons and forks. However, on the type of knife, you have, they could take it away from you if it’s metal. I have traveled with plastic knives and wooden knives and I have not had them removed. I’ve even traveled with a titanium knife and it hasn’t been removed. However, a lot of this depends on where you’re going because certain countries are more strict so just have to read up on what where you’re going and adjust accordingly.😊

Q: how does everything fit in? You didn’t show where your spice kit went, or the bottles of condiments for example. Pretty please 🙏🏻 💕🥢
@TheoryofSimple7 ай бұрын
It doesn’t all fit into the bowl. I show how it all looks when collapsed at the beginning of the video. How I pack it up depends on the bag I’m carrying and if I’m carrying food with me on the plane. For example, if I’m flying to Vegas, which is only an hour flight, i will not pack a meal in it for the plane but will collar it down and put it in my luggage. 😊 but if I’m flying cross country, I usually pack a meal in the bowl and the rest fits into my personal carryon 😊

@TheoryofSimple7 ай бұрын
@@elizabeth4053 so with the bowl that has a snap on lid I don’t carry soup or anything like that because you can’t get it through TSA and I don’t want to risk it popping open and spilling. so it’s great for things like salad or solid foods that don’t have a lot of liquid.
