Hey guys the Indian variety Gilas( At 32:50) is from a town named Malihabad near Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh. Malihabad is also famous for Dasheri mango all around the world. Malihabad is the mango capital of Uttar Pradesh. Gilas is one of the Indigenous and rare variety of Malihabad. We still have a mother plant this variety alive till date, it is said to be 120+ years old. Very Juicy, excellent taste, alternate fruiting. We love this mango.

Good job Alex and Paul! I'm probably going to watch this video a bunch of times like the 1st indian variety mango video. Last week I ordered a Alampur baneshan (as mentioned in this video) from tropical acres. After falling in love with my Kasar mango tree I'm only going to plant mango's with that West Indian flavor. 👍👍👍

Langda or Malda mango trees grown from seeds takes 5-8 years to bear fruit. I've a few at my native which took 6 years before bearing fruit. If they're grafted then it is said that the tree bears fruit bit earlier around 4-5 years of age. How did you grow this variety ? There are couple of other famous bengal mango varieties which you may try to expand into Himsagar and Fajli. All the best of luck on the Langda/Malda bearing fruit soon. Maybe I'll reach out to you for a graft soon enough.

Indian mangoes are good. It is 2nd to Philippine mangoes in terms of ranking. If you cant find Philippine mango variety then Indian mangoes are next option.
@tunasalad3919
@tunasalad3919 Жыл бұрын
That's debatable. Mangoes are indiginous to India and there are heck ton of the varieties that are available in India. So you can't say for sure unless you tried them all. Only reason many poeple in west are not very aware of Indian magoes is because of the low indian population which meant non-existent exports to the wetern hemispeare. It is just getting more common these days.

"Do well in Florida" is not specific enough. I've noticed that most often than not it refers to South Florida and zone 10+, but you'd do well to remember the entire state is not just one zone. Central and Northern Florida have different growing zones. For example, in central Florida. the 4 or 5 days or so of below zero temperatures in zone 9b is enough to kill or significantly damage these mango trees here even with covered protection. IF there are any varieties that not only survive but actually thrive in zones 9b, 9a or zone 8, please include that in your questions to the grower for this video to be actually helpful, or don't write "Florida" in the description as clickbait. Not every Floridian lives in Miami or wants to. Thank you.

This is a strange complaint…Central Florida definitely does not get 4-5 days below zero…to say clickbait is absurd…this is a Florida grower and everyday people are growing mangoes all over Florida…use common sense…this is a beyond petty complaint my friend
