Always loved propeller planes! Flew in them as a kid; wonder how they are now, as well as noise level inside. Preferred building the WWII plastic models (Airfix and Revell) too. Another era. 😢

Tupolev did a complete redesign of the Tu 95. This was it. Many built in Ukraine and some in central Russia. Great service history too.

There is a decommissioned tu 142 berthed near Vizag coast. Andhra govt in collaboration with the defence ministry has converted it to a museum

Not a classic bomber but a cruise missile carrier like a Tu-95MS. A common bomber can be shot by SAMs or fighters.

Instead of retiring them. They could have been overhauled and upgraded with latest avionics and other stuff. As it is India is short of planes both with IAF and the Navy. Our main adversary being Pakistan, this plane could have served another decade.

TU 142 birds are actually retired or phased out from navy Submarine reccy service. Currently boeing pi8 is inducted to replace this noisy bird. Yes this is Indian Naval Air Station Rajali Arakkonam Ranipet District Tamilnadu. It has south Asia longest runway around 5 kilometres of stretch. I have very good experience witnessing these birds at hangar and runway. Most beautiful base. No enemy submarines can escape from this bird as it is specially designed to hunt for underwater submarines and destroy it. INS RAJALI received a request from Malaysian government to search MH370 Malaysia airlines which went missing and india joined hands with Australian Navy for search and rescue operations. Indian Armed Forces Best helicopter pilots passed out from air station. They are the best of the best. Jai Hind 🇮🇳

Long time I believed tu-142 is our nuclear bomber because it had longa range. It can go deep inside china. Then I found out this aircraft belong to navy and it's used in anti-submarine rules. Still I love this aircraft. 🇮🇳Jay Hind 🙏

Beautiful aircraft.. oozes masculinity with rough and tough look... and unique with contra rotating props and being the fastest prop aircraft in the world...If I were a business magnate or a dictator this would be my official air transport albeit with lots of sound proofing (it's a noisy aircraft)and a seat at the nose with a transparent nose cone for a frontal view when I am not flying it myself😁.... alas it's just a fantasy

These have been retired way back in 2017. No longer in use. The Indian Navy now uses the P8i Poseidon Maritime Aircraft.
