Upto 1967 we travelled by steam locomotive only 12 coaches used to be there 3 types class. 1 2 and 3rd class First time rly introduced 17 coaches. With diesel engine Though we had so. Much dust and our eyes used to. Have coal dust whenever we peep through windows still it was golden days because of less population travel was very comfortable

Mashaal, akbar jaise steam engines ko dekh ke dar lag jata tha. Aaj bhi 1994 ka wo din yaad hain jab rudki ke paas maine masoori express ko mashaal jaise engine se pull karte huain dekha tha. Main nangaldam passenger se jab Punjab jaata tha to jaise hee train station par aati to toofan sa aa jata tha. Steam hee steam ho jaati sab jagah. Kaya din they wo. Aaj Nangaldam passenger Himachal express hain. Jab naya naya Diesel engine lagna shuru hua to bada khush hua ki ab hum jaldi pohancha karenge. Time tab bhi 8 ghante lagte they or aaj bhi almost utna he time lagta hain. But steam engine ko dekhte hee ab bachpan yaad aa jata hain. What a time it was.

This video footage itself is very old from 1994-1995. Steam locomotive trains no longer remain in India except the rare heritage and tourists trains! Steam locomotives were in decline from late 70,s itself in India. Major cities had shunned steam by then. Only small towns and branch lines operated them. Steam broad gauge main line officially ended in 1995 in India but it was more of the few sporadic services which were remaining. Metre Gauge Steam I believe ended in the year 2000.

By 1980 or so most of the steam train locomotives were stopped in India but few services remained. Officially speaking all scheduled steam locomotive trains of broad gauge ended in 1995 and metre gauge in 2000 in India Now only the heritage and few tourist steam locomotive trains remain in India. In UK Germany USA though steam locomotive trains remain in plentiful. Even in Russia and China has a lot of industrial steam locomotive trains working in the mine quarries. UK has even mainline steam locomotive trains plying almost daily somewhere in their country.
