Indian Scout Bobber Mods

Just a few enhancements, not really mods, to my Bobber. Forgot to mention the fork lock kit which you can see in the video.

I'm thinking about buying an Indian Scout bobber. Yours looks awesome! I don't know much about mechanics or bikes so I'm curious how did you get the original Indian lettering off of the tank and then put new on?

Use fishing line, wrap the ends around your hands a couple times then gently work the line behind the letters. This will break free the 3M tape holding them on. Buy an eraser wheel from the auto parts store which mounts into a drill chuck. This will remove the tape residue without harming the paint. Then clean the tank with polishing compound. Never apply too much pressure with the eraser wheel as you could possibly burn the clear coat. Forget about painting and remounting the old letters. Just buy new ones and paint before you put them on. Hope this info helps.

Dirty Bird Concepts radiator cover, Kuryakyn hose cover, Bikers Choice fork gators (short size), Rinehart pipes, Hogworkz LED headlight. Everything else is just paint, powdercoating and matte black vinyl.

When you put those slip on pipes on there do you have to do anything to the engine like remap it or any of that kind of stuff

I had the shop put them on when I took delivery of the bike. To the best of my knowledge you don't have to.

How do you like that seat? I love the look of it but how does it compare to the stock seat?

In my opinion, both seats are uncomfortable. I like the stock seat for the fact that it sits a lot lower, but nothing compares to the look of the saddle seat. The saddle seat is also very slick. If you pull too hard on the throttle, you better hold on, or you’ll slide right off the back.

Love the matte black. Can you tell me where you bought the matte film? Also I saw your drag bars. Love the look but how’s the lower back after a long ride?

I purchased the film on Ebay, nothing really special about it. As far as the comfort with the drag bars. My hands cramp up way before my back ever starts hurting. The riding position is actually quite comfortable.

oxouk thanks. Another question. Did you Paint your badges on your tank or remove it from your tank? If you removed it what did you use to stick it back on?

@@jeremyguillemette9204 Discard the old letters from your tank. Believe me, the time you'll spend trying to apply new 3M tape to each letter with less than perfect results will not be worth it. New letters for both sides of the tank are $56. They come aligned on a piece of clear film. Paint them whilst on the film, allow 24 hours to dry, then apply to your tank. You'll be much happier. Trust me.

Can you please list the tool sizes that are required to install the steering lock. I’m struggling to find the correct size socket for steering stem nut and tools to undo the lower triple tree.

​@@aamerkhan5326 The steering stem nut is a 30mm, the front wheel axle bolt is H16, and all the allen wrench bolts for the pinch bolt, triple tree and headlight fairing are 6mm. When you remove the 2, 6mm allen bolts on each side of the lower triple tree, Wedge a plastic pry tool or flat blade screwdriver in the gap and barely apply just enough pressure and the forks will slide right out with no effort at all. If you don't do this, you will be fighting those forks, sweating and cursing. Take photos before dissasembly, put masking tape on certain areas and mark everything so everything goes back just as you had it. Hope this helps!

Cory, you have to take the forks completely off. Not as bad as adding the fork lock, which requires removing the entire front end. They do make fork covers that wrap around and are secured with zip ties, but I like a challenge.

Just ordered a roll from EBay. Nothing special, just whatever’s cheapest. Just get enough to allow for mistakes.

@@turbocar5656 I just painted the letters with a paint pen. The 2018 Scouts came with Indian stamped Kenda Tires.
