Huge respect for The Wall. Still, in this short clip you can see why Dravid had a problem with strike rates for a significant part of his career. Here he handled the bowling comfortably, didn't fish outside off stump like Sehwag, didn't hang his bat out like Sachin. He even played three fairly good backfoot strokes. The thing is, they all went straight to the fielders. That was really the issue with his batting. He had plenty of strokes, unlike what some people thought. But because he was so technically correct, it was possible to place fielders precisely for his strokes. Once he started making slight adjustments at the last moment, with his wrists etc., his placement improved exponentially - and so did his strike rates. But every once in a while, especially if he were in bad nick in a Test, he'd get into the same block-block-block mode. Mind you, he was never in bad nick with respect to middling the ball, only with respect to placing it.

Team was struggling at 35/5. Yuvraj Singh's century followed by Irfan Pathan's 46, and contribution from the tail enders Agarkar(21) and Harbhajan(37) took us to a decent score of 249/9. But we lost the match by 5 wickets.
