To be clear I own Harley, Kawasaki, Honda, and Yamaha bikes. I tend to never leave things along and add some touches. The bigger reason I bought my road glide vs say a Kawasaki when I got a new bike is the dealer network because inevitably there could be issues with any bike and I wanted to have a dealership close if that happened. As I said in the video and many times in the comments the bike ride good and had plenty of power but given the quality issues I have seen on multiple ones and the fact that my closest dealership is over an hour and half away it’s not for me.

Polaris has gone out of their way to make the bikes very easy to owner maintain... like stupid easy.. Working on the bikes is much different than harley. Can't explain it, but things just fit together easier.... there is allot of use of plastics and other modern materials in the Indian underneath the magic. I have a 2021 Road Glide and I laughed at the comments throughout. Having just come back from riding a 21 Challenger, It blows my FLTRX away. The fairing design alone is fantastic… the gauges are in line of sight and the nav screen is within reach. The suspension and motor are superior. The handling in corners is better. You get remote locking Saddlebags that you need to spend $45k on a CVO to get at HD. And the adjustable windscreen is amazing. Indian didn’t copy the Road Glide, they improved it in every way. Out of the box, I already had to spend over $2500 to make the RG suspension acceptable so I’m not thrown from the saddle when I hit a bump that I barely felt on my 2019 softail. The only advantage to HD is paint and finishes and there’s not a doubt in my mind that in a couple years, Challenger riders will be poking fun at next-gen RG OWNERS SAYING “C’MON, IF YOU WANTED A CHALLENGER, GET THE REAL THING!” Love HD but knew you were a jaded fanboy when you spent the beginning of the video trashing it for not having a heel shifter. Thanks for posting. Indian is hurtng HD and much of the pain is self inflicted. I have two TC88 HDs that both have the cam chain tensioner design screw-up from HD. I bought the bikes new and HD very much knew they were selling me a defective design. HD left their customers out in the cold and did not stand by their product. The M8 was launch with much fanfare and a lot of problems. As with the TC88, the M8 was launch and fixed while customers found problems. I am looking at the Challenger, the Roadmaster, and thirdly a Goldwing (never thought I would go there) for my next bike. I am a 30-year experienced mechanical engineer and I view at the Challenger being well advanced over HD. A modern engine compared to M8. A agree that fit and finish is top quality on HD over all brands, but HD's motor is old technology and does not perform out of the gate. Having to use a paper template to drill holes in your engine to prevent cross talk from the primary to transmission is not my idea of a quality product, or oil sumping, brake failure, etc on a $28K bike does not build confidence in new HDs. I expect better from HD, but not sure if Indian will deliver. The guys I meet on the road with Indians seem very pleased with the brand, and for the most part are former HD customers.

Having owned many different bikes and a few bagger Harleys(still own a FLHX) there simply is no comparison. The Challenger is a better handling, quicker, faster, performing motorcycle. If you simply do a stage 1 with a tune and exhaust it takes a big inch built Harley to run the same. If you do a Lloyd’s tune or Dyno jet tune with stage 2 cams you’re looking at hp/trq numbers in the low to mid 130’s. How much do you have to spend on a Harley M8 to make those kind of numbers? The Challenger is simply better and more powerful. The fairing is fantastic and bike is very comfortable. Great for two up riding and very maneuverable at slow speeds. Rock solid through fast sweepers two up. Great fuel mileage(40-50mpg). Indian has taken market share from Harley and this bike has helped do that. Whatever issues you have your local dealer should be able to resolve quickly. My only complaint is you must keep this bike on a battery tender. Like most modern bikes with all their electronics the batteries work very hard in these bikes. They have a number of diodes that can “leak” electricity. My bike will go dead if not on a battery tender after 3 weeks. Not good. A lithium battery is probably the solution and I plan to try one next.

It only took 30-60 seconds to know without question that the challenger is faster, more agile, and more comfortable than the Road Glide. Way better looking from the front too. The only reason I’d take the Road Glide over the Challenger is if I prioritized aesthetics while sitting still in a parking lot over every other measurable characteristic. Goddamn my Harley is beautiful though…. I’ll miss that. But my trip to Dallas and back last weekend (just under a thousand miles each way) once again reminded me that even with the best aftermarket suspension money can buy, the Harley touring machines simply can’t complete with the monoshock aluminum frames Indian is using (I DID give Harley time to do what we all know they’re going to and make the softail frame bigger for touring purposes, but they didn’t even announce that they’re doing that yet, so superior product has to win out over brand loyalty). If you’re not sure which one is faster, just check out all the videos on KZbin of stock or barely modified Challengers smoking state 4 Road Glides. 🤣

At 3,000 miles?????? Walking up to my Harley always puts a smile on my face. But walking up to it after the demo ride made me smile even bigger knowing I made the right choice. My Harley has been modified with an upgraded oil pump/cam chest because of the issues with the M8. But the appearance of my Harley when it was stock blows the Indian out of the water. The Indian just looks and feels like cheap plastic. I have always felt if you don't take a few looks back at your bike when walking away, you chose the wrong bike. LOL! The only thing that is a copy is the fixed fairing concept and that is about it. Like you said demo bikes are abused. It was probably broken by a customer. Indian and Harley have been copying each other since the beginning. Harley styling is different and putting the two bikes next to each other will not cause any confusion as to what brand they are. Indians are all American Made so that is why the price is where it is. They do charge too much for paint color but I think Harley may be doing the same thing. Fit and finish on the Harley? I own one and it had corrosion issues but I fixed it with some burnishing. The front brake manifold corrodes and there is nothing that will stop it.

I’m new to the motorcycle world so I can’t speak on anything besides what I’ve experience. But that’s my dream bike hands down. I personally loved everything about that bike when I test drove it a couple weeks ago. I’ve never been on a Harley, so I have nothing bad to say about them. Just looking at them, they look freakin dope. I see them everywhere, that’s the only reason why I wouldn’t want a Harley. My first bike was a Kawasaki cruiser 16cc. That’s what I learned how to ride on. 10 years later, I’ve decided to get my license. Found out I knew nothing about the rule what do ever. I just knew how to ride🤷🏽♂️😂. I figured new State, why not. Then I test drove a Indian Challenger and fell in love with it. For now, I’m team Indian, until something changes😂🤟🏽.

The only two arguments that really count are Dealership and value retention. Quality is not ... my cousins HD has seen the dealer more often then open road. Overall it's always good for the customer that there is competition and I think it would have been much worse if Indian Motorcycles had died. There is still a lot of work to do if they really want to attack HD and we'll see how they grow their market or not. As someone who is not related to HD or Indian Motorcycles and as someone who is only looking for what I pay for, I would prefer Indian Motorcycles (regarding design as well). But when I look at it as an Investment, I would buy HD. It looses much less of its value when I'd try to sell it in a few years and yeah ... location of the dealer would be the next thing to consider.

Here's something everyone needs to get into their head about this bike and indian's claims: It's 122hp at the crank. NOT at the wheel. In reality the bike is getting 103~105HP at the rear wheel. Remember guys Crank numbers don't mean a damn thing, it's at the wheels where it matters. If you arent quoting a rear wheel torque and hp number, you might as well be quoting fiction. And yeah the turn signals thing. Everyone else in the industry needs to pull their head out of their butt, and do the harley turn signal setup with self canceling. Just because HD does it everyone else, doesn't mean they're wrong. Get with the program. HD did something everyone should be doing.

Those rear wheel hp numbers are still better than H/Ds, which only give u 70-80 hp at the rear wheel... and who really cares abt the self canceling blinkers? That's a garbage comment to try to sell a one up on HD, the Challenger is simply a better built, and better engineerd bike...period.

Fit & Finish is very cheap and feels plastic. I like the liquid cooled engine and will be buying one but going to wait for Harley to add a larger version of the Revolution Max to the Street Glide. I have a 2021 Street Glide, 2014 Wide Glide & 2009 Rocker C, so i am in no hurry to get another. Track3r ...irregardless of what kind of ride you had on the Challenger, you were going to find just enough to say Harley is superior! I was in the market to buy a Road Glide right up until Indian produced a superior riding experience. My right mirror was a little lose and required tightening. I didn't bring it back to the dealer and buy a Harley! I do have an issue with the throttle response on the Challenger however, I also have a different throttle complaint for the Road Glide! The Road Glide won't come close to a Challenger performance until you have a stage Three installed! Remember "1901" who is copying who? Did Harley invent the fixed fairing? Harley copied a Japanese bike when they created the Road Glide...right? I am not a 1%er fan boy therefore, I'm not conditioned to bow to Harley Davidson. I used to embrace the Harley Brand until Indian came back and Harley became scared and offensive! Face it...the only thing Harley has going for it over any other Brand is its blindly loyal cult members.
@Track3r3 жыл бұрын
Eh I wouldn’t say I’m blindly loyal, and no Japanese bikes have had fixed fairings far longer but generally speaking the Indian touring bikes have way more fit and finish issues than any other bike I have personally experienced. If you go look at my video catalog I also rode a ftr (fantastic bike) and a scout (really nice also) I just think that the touring bikes are steaming piles of garbage until they get the fit and finish issues sorted. Also sitting in my stable right next to my road glide is a Kawasaki Vulcan and a Honda crf 250l. I am by far not brand loyal

Track3r ...perhaps a little bit of reflection on how the Challenger out performs the Road Glide in all aspects. Besides maybe, the limited turning radius of the Indian because of its longer wheel base in slow speed manoeuvres. Challenger wins with a savings of about $10k...the amount that would bring a Road Glide into the same range that a Challenger performs in. I do admit that I prefer the RG fairing and paint however, that's why the matt black, blacked out finish of the Dark Horse is the answer. So cool...My slightly weighed fondness for the HD's looks could also be the conditioning I've had for Harley over the years. I still love the Road Glide however, I'm grounded enough to honestly say that there is NO comparisons considering performance. I like to catch my reflection looking awesome/cool on my ride but, that only happens for a second, maybe two if your lucky. When you crank the throttle on the Challenger...it pulls forever, leans like a Ducati and turns heads like Batman has just entered the race. I prefer to own a Challenger for now.

However the 2020 Challenger has a DO NOT DRIVE recall from March 25 2020 for a engine output shaft bearing failure. Yes your correct HD has had issues. So has Indian, Honda, Kawasaki, Victory, and any other manufacturer you can think of. But as stated in this video my OPINION is that the Challenger needs work. Its the same price range as my road glide however has a lot of fit and finish issues along with a lack of support from a strong dealership network. Some people may not agree with me and that's ok. @@thegentlemen6135 We can go on the bail out comment. Who bought the Indian name because it was out of business again? Its affordable and as compared to an entry level harley (Sportster) I would take it all day! The FTR? Harley doesnt even offer something similar to it unless you go used and look at a Buell and those are far from something I would even put up near a FTR. This video specifically is my opinion on this one model of bike that is comparatively priced to a Road Glide and while yes it has more power and such can not compare to the road glide in multiple aspects. As I have said this is my opinion. I can go on for days about bikes that are better than what HD has to offer. What would I rather choose today, the Pan America (HD) or a Versys 1000 (kawasaki). I would take the Kawasaki they have been in that game for a lot longer and the Pan America is a brand new platform with a brand new drive line. Give it a few years to work the bugs out and I would probably reconsider my choice. Same goes for the Challenger. It is a new platform for Indian and needs a lot of refinement before its really ready and something I would personally consider. For anyone else who wants one or has one. Good for them and I hope to see them out riding some time. However as stated I have owned multiple different brands of bikes and currently own 3 different brands and like them all for different reasons. If given the chance to buy a FTR for a good price you can bet it would be in my garage! I am not brand loyal.

Unfortunately a review from a Harley owner lmao😂😂 how about the facts and truths. As someone who is technician in the industry and for multiple brands including indian,Harley, Suzuki,Can-Am, Kawasaki to name some with over 22+ years of experience. Indian is far better in almost every aspect except dealer network. Harley has to have a dealer within an hour of each considering how frequently they break down with major failures not minor. I have had a lot of the road glide st and street glide st come in with less than 1k clocked and they are blown up. Yes Indian has a fit and finish problem as well as a few other minor things but as far as reliability and engine, well let's say I have yet to tare down an Indian power plus motor or thunderstroke 111, I honestly can't count the number of m8 I've had to tare down and rebuild. Only thing Harley is great at is clothing, boots, sunglasses and accessories lol. But honestly if you want a maintenance free ride get a Honda. See so many of them come in 300-400,000 miles without so much a hiccup. Agree though ride command is glitchy and sucks but as far as power, performance and reliability I'll take an Indian over a Harley 10 out of 10 times.

Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion but my Harley doesn’t have parts falling off after 400 miles

@@Track3r Personally, I'd take a plastic gauge cover come loose over an engine or transmission issue.

Because maybe you don't want a Roadglide!!!

Something else I though of was that Harley has plenty of cheap parts that just don't cut it either I saw you playing with some of the trim above the gauge cluster!

Another HD fan boy 😂 you wish your HD can keep up with the challenger.

I own 3 bikes and ride all 3. Only one is a HD. I have also owned around 15 before this and only 2 of them have ever been HD. Wouldn't say I am a fan boy ;)

Got to disagree with you. The Challenger is the bike Harley should have been building 10+ years ago. It's a superior bike in almost every conceivable way, except for the Infotainment system. Indian has had problems with the Ride Command and they need to work those out.

Couldn’t watch the review once I started hearing the guy complain about not having a heel shifter and bashing it cause it’s not a Harley. Why bother doing the review at all then .

Why bother writing a comment if you didn’t watch for the positive things I said?
