See, that would work a lot better if what they were harvesting was your sadness. That way, it would fit more with the original working title of this Podcast “Blue Harvest Boys” harvesting blues for all the boys in need.

I have a broken heart & I love listening to these 2 because they're hilarious & help me stop thinking about my own personal apocalypse for at least a moment or 2. And being this blue harvest is also the working title of the first Star Wars. ....2nd part was a joke, 1st part is true, my hearts been torn from my chest. I wish at a time like this that these guys did a podcast or caravan of garbage 7 days a week.

I cannot express how much joy fills my heart hearing James belch out "west world" my life is now balanced. For a few months James retired that saying and my life went into a downward spiral. I began to abusively drink filter water, start talking to people at social gatherings and it even got to the point that in the middle of all this , I hugged a stranger and we embraced each other. Sickening But the last three weeks James has brought back the much needed mantra. The mantra that brings me back to my best me. I've been working out, spending time with my dog *shout out to Hero* and now more excited to listen to the podcast on loop comforted with the two words that help me sleep better at night WEST WORLD! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Transformers characters using names meaninglessly was actually a thing long before the Bay movies. Pretty much any name that wasn't Megatron, Optimus, or Starscream was applied to a new character every few year to hold onto the trademark for the name (Eg. In Transformers Energon the inexperienced rookie was named Ironhide, a name that belonged to a gruff veteren character in the original series). The Bay movies were actually the start of them using names more consistently.

in the original Beast Wars, the characters turned into normal sized animal alt-modes and so that kinda made them tinyy little bots next to the G1 characters, they were smaller than the G1 cassette guys like Rumble and Ravage. and originally the Beast Wars alt modes wernt for disguise, they were to protect them from TOO MUCH energy on pre-historic Earth. so yeah
@orinanime
@orinanime Жыл бұрын
Well some of them turned into normal sized alt modes. Optimus, Cheetor, Rhinox and others' alt modes were appropriately sized. But bots like Rattrap, Waspinator, Tarantulas, Black Arachnia, Inferno, are all the size of most of average bot or bigger, rather than shrinking down to the size of a rat, wasp, spider or fire ant.

I don't know about everyone else but God I hated everything about that island and flamboyant style. Watching it burn was very satisfying. I also think it was fun in the sense that the only way to beat the villian is to remove his power. Nobody wants to be attached to the guy who burned the Mona Lisa.

I think my biggest fear with the new Indy movie is that it will be bogged down in nostalgia and indeed appeal to those sort of fanboys. And I am not immune to nostalgia but I think it should actually be a good story. IJ4 already was less of a standalone film than the original trilogy and relied on your nostalgia and investment on Indy/Marion (relationship that I don't enjoy)...

Models and matte paintings doesn't change the fact that the physical stunts were all practical in the first three Indy movies, often with Ford or his stunt double, and were convincing because he was only in his 40s instead of late 70s. There's no way this movie isn't going to be a hollow Lucasfilm mess. 1 second of Ford not talking doesn't mean the de-ageing will be good when he's talking. This trailer was nothing like the Last Crusade trailer, or any of the original 3. Because in those movies he got to kiss the love interest, and this one he gets to be a 'dad joke'.

I know this is a silly podcast about blockbuster movies think if you look at the top 100 for film critics and directors you will see a lot of movies you do know. Get Out, Parasite, and Moonlight all made at least one list. films that are old classics but also widely known like chinatown, jaws, blade runner, godfather part 2, the shining and raging bull all make appearances. and even more recent movies like do the right thing, goodfellas, eternal sunshine, and two Miyazaki movies. it's obviously filled with a bunch of movies only film dorks care about but I don't think the lists are as completly unmoving and ancient as y'all seemed to think. of the top 10 even 3 movies came out in the 90s and 2000s.

Very enjoyable movie. Unfortunately it completely falls apart on a rewatch. As soon as the Shitheads/Disruptors arrive on the island, the entire plot disintegrates. Miles killed Andi. Therefore Miles KNOWS this "Andi" is actually Helen playing impostor. (Yes, he would know his friend and business partner of 10+ years has a twin sister.) So he also KNOWS the "world's greatest detective" suddenly showing up alongside her is not some random coincidence. They're obviously there to investigate Andi's death and Miles knows he's now under fire. (Yes, even an "idiot" would know this.) Somehow the writers and director - probably caught up in the enthusiasm of trying to craft clever plot twists - totally forgot this massive glaring plot point. Once you know Miles' actual backstory, virtually everything he does for the entire movie is unbelievable nonsense that doesn't match up with that backstory, and that thoroughly undermines what is otherwise a pretty entertaining movie. (Oh, and there's not a chance in hell that a billionaire businessman/technocrat doesn't have a cellphone. That so much of the plot rests on that one premise was already a pretty big red flag.)
@surlycanadian
@surlycanadian Жыл бұрын
No; miles does not KNOW that she is dead. He set it up and left. Given the fact that she shows up and no press release of her death has happened, he would assume that the attempt to kill her failed. If she woke up before succumbing to the fumes, she wouldn’t have even known that Miles tried to kill her.
@shelbyvillerules9962
@shelbyvillerules9962 Жыл бұрын
@@surlycanadian I'm pretty sure if Andi had survived she would've at least _suspected_ that Miles had something to do with it considering she was alone with him right before passing out and then would've woken up in her garage with the engine running. Either way, Andi/Helen showing up with Blanc would've immediately set off alarm bells for Miles. But instead of calling the whole thing off he does the exact opposite and encourages everyone to stay. And why did Miles even send an invitation to Andi in the first place? I know they said that he sends her an invitation every year so you could argue it was for the sake of appearances... but considering he'd literally just had a very bitter and public falling out with her, it would have looked absolutely normal that he didn't invite her on this occasion. Also, I didn't buy that everyone would suddenly turn on Miles after Helen states that he'll be remembered as the guy who destroyed the Mona Lisa. Firstly, _she_ technically destroyed it and I'm pretty sure he'd be able to spin that narrative any way he wants. And secondly, most of them would just be tying their own noose by backstabbing him, considering how they'd either signed off on the dangerous hydrogen fuel themselves or had previously perjured themselves by initially lying in court about the napkin.
@Devillionaire
@Devillionaire Жыл бұрын
@@surlycanadian So either Miles knows he killed Andi and knows it's her twin on the island now. Or he think he screwed up killing Andi and now Andi is here knowing that Miles tried to kill her. (He drugged her and left her in a running car in a closed garage. Please don't even try to argue that he thinks she woke up and somehow DIDN'T know Miles tried to kill her cuz that would just be LOL.) Doesn't matter which way he believes. Either way is total nonsense for how he behaves from that point on, which is to be completely oblivious to his OWN backstory. It's such a massive failure of the writing and it's really just too bad, cuz otherwise it coulda been a great who-dun-it movie.

Why would you tell a woman you don't want these things for your birthday? That is literally telling them that's what you want. Because that's the way they think.

Kevin Smith denied all the He-Man rumours on twitter. Mangold may be a great director, but that won't save him from the clusterfuck that is Lucasfilm. An Indy movie has been in development hell for years, and just like the Star Wars sequels, this is going to be another writer/director coming in for a hollow sequel onto an existing IP, with Ford returning for nostalgia. This won't be like Logan, where Mangold can base the story on a popular comic book.

Nearly every single thing the DCock, CosmicBook and Bounding circle jerk has complained about has been a lie. Indy might end up being bad but it doesn’t change the fact that reactionary idiot content creators are going to continue getting clicks off of their fake outrage war on “wokeness”. It’s pathetic.

@@CrowTRobot Lots of things about Kenobi, TROS and He-Man were dismissed as being 'lies' and they were pretty accurate. LF is an absolute dumpster fire with only ONE movie (TLJ) from 5 not replacing a writer or director. The director and writer have both been replaced on Indy 5. We've had Edwards, Lord and Miller, Benioff and Weiss, Trank, Trevorrow, Arndt, Jenkins pushed aside or hired and then dropped. And again, Smith flat out denied the rumours that were absolutely bang on. "it doesn’t change the fact that reactionary idiot content creators are going to continue getting clicks off of their fake outrage war on “wokeness”. It’s pathetic." 1. It's no more 'pathetic' than the passive aggressive websites and youtube channels complaining about fandoms and their backlash. 2. It's funny you call it "fake outrage" to dismiss it, rather than consider it might be a genuine (if exaggerated) point of view. 3. We've seen how Hollywood and access media is out of touch with the audience, in the way movies have started to underperform when they try the now well worn reboot/remake/sequel gender/race swap. 4. People don't like being lectured. On the other hand, there was no backlash to Nomadland, Portrait of a Lady on Fire (not Hollywood, admittedly), Lady Bird, Moonlight and these are recent movies that all feature 'strong female characters' (and by that I mean the real definition, not the hopeless Mary Sues we see in Marvel and Star Wars and so on) or people of colour or LGBT characters. The difference is that they are written in such a way that their gender/race/identity doesn't define them, and they don't treat the audience like morons. 5. The amount of times Hollywood has used the access and mobilised twitter to bully and dismiss criticism of their movies is really alarming. It's coincidentally since the 'MeToo' movement, where Hollywood's repulsive behaviour was exposed. And if you're paying attention, we've seen the same tactics with big pharma, big tech, and governments; using the media and twitter to bully, gaslight and dismiss dissent. Hollywood is run by greedy executives and shareholders that just want any old trash that will get the four quadrants and most profit, and that includes having a twitter mob to combat any criticism that might harm profits. If you're having a short term memory problem, the media insisted that vaccines categorically stop the spread of covid. And what we later discovered was that those experts were lying, with no evidence at all. Any yet any skepticism of big pharma (that made billions in profit using public money) and have been sued over and over again for dangerous practices, was dismissed as 'conspiracy'. If you don't see how the narratives reflect the world we live in today, I don't know what to tell you. So please, "NormalView" try and use a little nuance.

@@Ruylopez778 not sure why I'm engaging on a Covid misinformation topic here of all places but no one was ever saying vaccines would categorically stop the spread of Covid. It was never marketed or pitched as a cure. There was full disclosure from the start that they would primarily help prevent hospitalizations. You can not rewrite history to suit your talking points.

@@notmephisto1375 "but no one was ever saying" You aren't very specific. I said 'the media'.
