This series might never get the views it deserves. But its important to break down the numbers, this is an important part of moviemaking. Don't stop the good work brother.

It's amazing how Disney has allowed Kathleen Kennedy to continue to destroy Lucasfilm's IPs.

Really excellent tangent (starting here at 20:37) about cell phones and culture. The more industries (movie or not) fought against the changing technology rather than adapting to it, the more they lose

The kind of sentiment that existed in the 80's driving the creation of Indy and other great movies from those times are not in a single Hollywood studio. You can never get that tone of entertainment back and I wish people would stop trying.

You are right, Indiana Jones is NOT as big as they think it is. I was born in 84. Raiders of the Lost Arc was great. Honestly, as a kid, I never cared for the last crusade. The temple of doom was cool, but a bit over the top silly. I never owned Indiana Jones merch. And I never owned the movies on tape. I liked Indiana Jones, but I didn't love it. The movies were cool and fun. Maybe some Gen xers liked it more?

Part of me is sad because Id love to see more Indiana Jones media beyond movies and now im not sure if we will be getting anything Indy related anytime soon. Indiana would be a great character for an Uncharted quality video game but I wouldnt be surprised if the upcoming Bethesda game gets canceled.

WHY did Disney think the public wanted to see Indy humiliated repeatedly by a character/actress they've never seen; watch him be unable to go on the adventures he used to go on; Learn that his son was killed in Viet Nam (a little left wing, anti-American triumphalism there?)... I mean... did they come up with this needlessly depressing storyline and say to themselves: "THIS! THIS is EXACTLY what the public wants to see from Indiana Jones!" I guess they just wanted to destroy another white, male hero and show how much better yet another PERFECT British woman will be in the role. Good luck with that...

The real question should be with Disney knowing huge swathes of the public would h@te this movie for the reasons you stated above, why did they go ahead and make it anyways? Is w0k3 ideology more important than profit? How did we get here? Does the left or the right run the entertainment industry? Are things like movies used to build consensus and control society?
@HC-cb4yp Жыл бұрын
@@YellowJello57 Valid questions. After cable freed Hollywood up from having to produce POPULAR entertainment, the concept filtered down to movies that DO need to attract an audience... I think Hollywood is going to shrink to about the size of, say, pro hockey's popularity. There but small. I've moved on, entertainment-wise.

It's not like we didn't know this was going to happen. When the individual in charge of Lucasfilm gets a well deserved reputation for having an extremely Anti-George Lucas mentality, the fans aren't going to want anything to do with her. Especially after she and her activist buddies wrecked every Lucasfilm franchise they touched.

Wait! So you are saying if we let people make noise and speak on their phones in the move theaters then more people will go to the movies??? LOL What kind of logic like that ??? A huge percentage of movie goers love to watch their movies uninterrupted so alienating that audience in favor of a younger tik tok crowd will not solve the problem. And most adults use their phones during movies without any issue. No one kicks them out for using their phones because they do it discreetly and respectfully. Their volume is off and they usually shield the phone not to draw attention. This idea that if you pull out a phone the whole theater draws out a pitchfork is hilarious haha
@pleaserewind295 Жыл бұрын
I disagree. Embracing the tiktok generation is more important than holding onto the older generations that will be dying off. And yes, the drafthouse would legit kick you out for having a cell phone.
