Exactly. There was an article on that rag site The Gamer literally saying It's first person uncharted. " if Indiana Jones was in third person, it might as well just be an Uncharted game. With a whip. that makes me a little sad. The game itself looks really fun - it might even whip, if you will - but because of the inspiration Uncharted took from the IP, it’s no longer a fresh, fun, original idea to make an Indiana Jones game. Indy did it first, but the Uncharted games jacked its whole vibe very effectively, and now nobody can look at this game and not think of Nathan Drake. They’re too close in genre, unfortunately, and The Great Circle hasn’t yet proven that it has enough to differentiate itself from that existing franchise." I mean people seem to overlook the fact that people looking to play Indiana Jones are not looking to play Uncharted. They are coming to this for...Indiana Jones. The character himself is a differentiating factor. And besides first person worked fine for Metroid Prime. The fact it is in first person makes the experience more intimate and places greater emphasis on your surroundings. It's not a mere shooting gallery like Uncharted could be with the shooting countless baddies. And from what one preview said? Guns are a last resort as the enemy will actively call for reinforcements trying to take you down if they hear a gun shot. It also noted that Indy uses disguises.

People really overlook the Fact it was Indie that atarted this off, Uncharted is great and Tomb Raider is great. As much, in my peraonal opinion, I wanted a 3rd person game, i am growing on the 1st person take, and looking forward to try the game out. Story, gameplay and acting all looks to be handled well!

Couch game designers. If it were up to them, every single game would be a Souls game with a different skin on. Personally I like 1st person adventure games and I don’t enjoy Soulslikes. (I know, heresy.) So for me, I’m glad this game is first person, and I’m glad it’s an action adventure not a torture test.

Seems like a high budget game that a lot of care went into, but man I can already see how hard its going to bomb, just like the last movie. Wrong product at the wrong time, this game awaits the same fate as Suicide Squad, Star Wars Outlaws, Avatar and Hellblade 2.

@@jacesime3722 the reason most people hate it is because they’re riding on the Ubisoft hate train, but I believe a lot of the hate comes from the fact that the worlds are expensive and open, but there’s nothing to do in them and the quests are very repetitive and there’s barely any variety

because it's different. Same kind of reaction people had about Metroid Prime when first announced it would be first person. People just need to chill and give it a chance/fair shake or wait for reviews/hands on impressions from youtubers. First person is what sets it apart..that and the character of Indy. I am frankly tired of the third person action/adventure games with stealth elements that make you hide in tall grass.

Chronicles of Riddick Escape from Butcher Bay was one of the best game of its generation. It was part shooter/action/puzzle/stealth/rpg, all from 1st person with action scenes presented in 3rd. It worked. Hope same applies here.

Well depends who you ask. Some fanboys on Playstation don't want MS to have a 'win'. Despite the fact the game is going to their system as well at a later date. But people fear the unfamiliar. Afterall, Metroid faced similar scrutiny when Prime was first revealed to be a first person game. The distinction is that this like Metroid Prime is not a FPS. It's a First Person adventure game. And for what it's worth the first person perspective worked in Cyberpunk as well.

As a fan of the first 3 films, this hits all the right points. The combat is reminiscent of the movie’s choreography, which is directly playing on 1930s detective comics (not Batman) being able to control Indy in such beautiful settings will be really cool too. I like the journal too. Hopefully they can optimize it a bit better

This looks fantastic to me. Will probably grab this, after it’s released and I’m sure it’s a completed game. You can tell the people who made this game love Indiana Jones, because they didn’t make him a sad old divorced alcoholic. Todd Howard could consider a move from making games, to overseeing the legacy of Indiana Jones. Film got it shockingly wrong last time. Indiana Jones is a mythical figure to 3 generations. We need a fan of this character in the drivers’ seat, not someone who denigrates and humiliates him.

14 minutes of "gameplay" video, and I don't have a clue about what this game is about in terms of gameplay loop. At best it seems to be like a very linear "adventure game" with some forgettable combat and a lot of undercover quicktime events. Sometimes it looks like an old point-and-click game, sometimes like a long interactive cutscene. I have a feeling that the "open areas" are smaller than they want to show you in this trailer, and "freedom" of movement and choices are going to be closer to the last Tomb Raiders, if not even less, rather than a proper open world game. I don't have good feelings about this, I know MachineGames are good developers, but everything seems unconvincing at this moment.

You're gonna see him a whole lot in the lavishly designed, long cut scenes in between the immersive first person adventure game bits. I'd wish people could understand that not everyone in the industry is on Sony's (and particularly Naughty Dog's) quest to make games a seamless blend of cinema and games, that is specifically their design philosophy which has become Sony's larger design philosophy for all its exclusives particularly because of that studio's success in their portfolio, and I'm not even dissing that. I love Uncharted, they do it really well, but it's not MachineGames' design philosophy at all and they really shouldn't be striving to become something they're not. Indiana Jones already IS a movie (five of them, in fact) it doesn't need to aspire to 'a cinematic experience', it already is one, right now. The game is just going to try and really be 'a game' in the portions where you control Indy, not try to opt for some blend where you control Indy along some carefully scripted walk-and-talk portion where you're chaperoned around to hit your cues exactly so it 'looks like a movie'.

First rule of writing for visual media 1. Show don’t tell I don’t wanna be told the character is charming. I need to see it. If you are doing an IJ game you gotta make sure you match the character’s performance from the original trilogy. The gameplay looks good but there was essentially no dialogue shown, no good one liners, none of his signature womanizing.
