Having been to the Treasury building in Petra (the location of the grail), I can say that it’s very much a sight to behold. If anyone should ever find themselves in Jordan, do what you can to visit. You walk down the remnants of a Roman road to get to the bottom of the valley and there’s quite a lot to see on the way as well. I actually didn’t know this site was in Jordan until a coworker asked if I was going to make a trip out to see it. With that said, the outside is all you get. It’s actually a tomb with guards at all the entrances.

In the library scene, when you mentioned Elsa falling 100 feet when Indy lowers her down I thought, "What terrific foreshadowing." Another favorite moment and very tender is when Sean Connery calmly and fatherly calls him "Indiana" instead of Junior when he convinces him to let go of the Grail and grab his hand. Tear.

Love your thoughtful reactions Madison. You set yourself apart from the other movie reactors by being more literate, cultured and drawn to the deeper moral and philosophical themes explored in films. And yet you can totally appreciate light-hearted banter, situational comedy and thrilling action. In a word, wholesome! Looking forward to your next reaction. BTW, the opening scene was filmed at the Arches National Park (Utah) named after those amazing stone arches.

My favorite pet ever was a rat. They are amazingly clean and preen themselves like a cat. My dominant rat Athena was a better mouser than any cat I've seen. Not only was she territorial and aggressive, she could follow the mice through places a cat couldn't fit. When I'd get home from work she'd come running to the door and climb up onto my shoulders. If I left my computer on she'd run back and forth on the keyboard then stare at the screen as if she were proofreading her typing. I had a large male boxer named Bull and tried to introduce them so that he could be in the house without hurting her. Turned out she just ignored the dog and went about her business. He got upset and barked at her, BIG MISTAKE! She jumped on his head and started ripping out hair, he ran yelping around the house till I caught him and pulled her off. He wouldn't come in the house after that. It was ridiculous, an 80 pound dog terrified of a 2 pound rat. When she passed I couldn't bring myself to try and replace her. She was just too special.

Great reactions to this great Indiana Jones film!!!🎬👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽Having grown up with Sean Connery as James Bond, makes this my favorite of this series. Harrison Ford & Sean Connery in a great film that echoes the spirit of the first film, PRICELESS! The airship is supposed to be a scary mode of transportation. This film takes place in 1938. In real like the German airship Hindenburg crashed in New Jersey in 1937 on a journey originating from Frankfurt. I haven't heard anyone mention "The Garden of the Gods" for a long time. I was stationed at Peterson AFB and lived in Colorado Springs for 10 years. You are right about those opening scenes being shot around Colorado Springs, Madison.

I think the actress in that one kind of killed the vibe, and the addition of the kid was a bit too try hard, even for Spielberg. Still a fun film. This is possibly the best due to Connery, and I love Denholm Elliot's part. Generally more humorous, and Nazis are always a favourite whipping boy.

The chemistry between Connery and Ford makes this the best of the 'trilogy plus one'. By the 4th, many commenters seem to agree the concept had worn thin and Spielberg had finally gotten his tribute to the matinee cliffhanger genre which inspired his youthful movie-making ambitions out of his system. Indiana Jones, Nevada Smith, Tennessee Williams, Minnesota Fats, Jersey Joe Walcott, Washington Irving, Mississippi John Hurt (the bluesman not the actor), Louisiana May Alcott ... oops, what? Must be an American thing, state nicknames. Ontario O'Hara, East Anglia Eastwood, Queensland McQueen anyone? Another enjoyable reaction romp from Madison. Keep nailin' 'em, girl.

🎯At 31:00 the exit they are leaving through is called the Siq (pronounced "seek")and the building facade in the background is called The Treasury. It's in the present day city of Petra, in southern Jordan. Its ancient named is Bozra. I was fortunate enough to visit there on my last tour of Israel. Fun to know I stood in that area, and walked through the length of the Siq where that final scene was shot.

That's one of the many things I love about this movie. Is now you know why he has a scar on his chin. Why he uses the whip .Why he hates snakes. And how he came to have the hat. And why he's called Indiana. That little opening sequence answered alot of questions. I love the Indiana Jones movies. I even liked the crystal skull. Probably even better than the temple of doom . But this was my favorite and of course the raiders . Then Crystal skull then the temple.

Not a blimp. A blimp is a soft-bodied lighter-than-air vessel, basically a balloon filled with a light gas that maintains its shape from the pressure of the gas within. This is a dirigible (German Zeppelin), which has a frame structure supporting the shape of the vessel, gondola, inner access walkways, engine nacelles, and other things. It's much larger and rigid. And how is it he checks his Webley revolver by opening it and there aren't even spent brass casings in the chambers? Only way that would happen is if he ejected all the casings himself... but, you know... Hollywood...

The young Indy is played by River Phoenix, who basically was 90´s Leonardo DiCaprio in the '80s. You have to check him out in Stand By Me. The Grail didn't belong to Jesus though did it? It belonged to the household where he ate the last supper, so Indy's rational was pointless.
@ivaneames4354
@ivaneames4354 9 ай бұрын
@@CheepchipsableFrom Wikipedia: "The Last Supper took place in what is today called The Room of the Last Supper on Mount Zion, just outside the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem, and is traditionally known as The Upper Room. This is based on the account in the Synoptic Gospels that states that Jesus had instructed two disciples (Luke 22:8 specifies that Jesus sent Peter and John) to go to "the city" to meet "a man carrying a jar of water", who would lead them to a house, where they would find "a large upper room furnished and ready". In this upper room they "prepare the Passover"." Therefore the room was prepared with furniture etc by the man with the jar of water but it was the two disciples who set the table and they would have done so according to how they knew Jesus would want. They knew he wouldn't want expensive, flashy stuff and would want simple stuff so that's what they would put out. Therefore Indy's rationale is perfectly spot on.

You can take a ride on the circus train, although there aren't any animals on the real one. It's called the Cumbres & Toltec Narrow Gauge Railway and it runs between Antonito in southwestern Colorado and Chama, New Mexico. It takes you through breathtaking scenery on a most-of-a-day run, and then you get back by bus in a little over an hour. I've ridden it twice now, once in each direction. I'd happily do it again if I'm ever in the vicinity.

The first and third Indiana Jones movies go well together. For another great Sean Connery movie definitely do "The Hunt for Red October". If you like westerns and I suspect you do, should do the Clint Eastwood classic Spaghetti Westerns trilogy starting with "A Fistful Of Dollars" (1964). These were a gritty departure from the style of westerns made the US up to then, and then there's that awesome music score! ✌😎

Loved your reaction and thoughts as always!! Thanks! How do you think was the quality of the horse riding of the actors and stunt-personel in this one? Since you know about horse riding, it would be cool to hear some comment about it, when you have something to comment and when the movie warrants it. Just an idea since I am curious.

No complaints about the horse riding in this movie! I notice when it’s bad, and there wasn’t anything that bothered me in this one. I’m actually impressed by the amount of riding Harrison seems to do himself.

You know in trilogies and such maybe you could ask in the polls which trilogies to watch, and which movies within the trilogy to watch and in which order... Just an idea to throw at you...

The Nazi swastika bends to the right. The Buddhist symbol, which is thousands of years old, bends to the left. It may have been used in other religions as well, seeing as it’s so old.

It is an ancient Christian symbol, a stylized broken cross. The Nazis incorporated lots of Christian symbolism into some of their beliefs.

@@exhistoriascientia Ancient Christian? 😂😂😂 Bud, this symbol is over 3,000 years old. That’s over 1,000 B.C. That stands for “Before Christ.” A simple google search could have saved you the embarrassment of exposing your Christian centrist brainwashing. Don’t feel bad…I grew up under the thumb of that propaganda, too. There is hope for you.

@@BDogg2023 Actually, it was you that exposed your bias and possibly your poor English comprehension. I didn't deny the use of the symbol in other cultures, merely pointed out the origin of the symbol as used by the Nazis. By the way, for the record I'm an atheist.

While I love Indiana Jones the character, I can't help but have some weird feelings about the start of this movie. Indy basically killed like 10 crew members on the boat for a cross that should be in a museum?
