okay I didnt make it to the stream for housekeeping so I missed Jen talking about her Durge, I was worried before about over explaining why the lance helm is great, but its clear Jen is getting into the details, so in my opinion the best gear for shadowheart is the radiant armor, which has an ability where anytime you deal radiant damage, it casts radiant orb on enemies, making it more likely for them to miss, then the lance helm causes radiant damage every time an enemy misses. and that auto radiant damage, will ALSO cast radiant orb further increasing their odss to miss attacks. Then there are gloves, boots, and a necklace that can all apply additional effects like reverberation, with all the items on, you just activate spirit guardians and run around the battlefield hitting people with your spinning aura of holy destruction. she is almost impossible to hit, absolute wrecking machine. you guys have the gloves already (gloves of belligerent skies) boots of speed are good for her because it lets her run around even more.

Regarding Twinned Spell/ Extended Spell/ Quickened spell (or metamagic as a whole), since Jen asked about it Basically those abilities modify your other spells in some way, you can imagine them like options to toggle on or off before casting, they don't immediately do anything by themselves, after you select them you'll see highlighted spells in your ability wheel (they'll have like a faint blue circle around the symbol), those are the spells affected by the meta magic, you select one of those spells and it will be casted with the meta magic enabled. So for example you select twinned spell, and then firebolt will have two projectiles you can aim separately like magic missile, or you can cast "hold person" on two people, which is a personal favourite of mine. Meta magic uses sorcery points, which are like spell slots but specifically for stuff like meta magic and you have less of them than spell slots, don't know how many exactly at your level.

Also there is an option in the R1 ability wheel to trade spell slots for sorcery points so you can use metamagic more often. It's called Create Sorcery Points and looks like a blue flame. You can also do it the other way round by trading sorcery points for more spell slots, the icon is like a blue square with a star in the middle and it's called Create Spell Slot. However, this is not very efficient as you need 2 sorcery points to generate one level 1 spell slot (unlike the 1:1 ratio of Create Sorcery Points), so I'd use it only in a pinch. These are both bonus actions.

I 100% get the feeling of neuro spicy in the relationship, it's definitely hard to get through sometimes. Both my kids, the hubby, and myself are all on the spectrum. The house gets chaotic quite a lot and with so many triggers and meltdowns which makes us late or unable to attend something altogether. It's one of those things that we all just kind of have to navigate through as best as possible. The understanding of the mental side of things also plays apart in it, at least, for me anyway. The two of you are sooooo amazing and you both make me feel 1000% seen in a lot of the things that affect me. Thank you both for being you and being so real with everyone on stream. I don't get to tune in much as timezone in Australia doesn't work well rofl. SO I'll watch the youtube videos!

Thank you for always being honest and transparent to us. I totally understand the frustrated feeling of not being able to do what seems easy to others or tiny in this messy world. But your feelings are valid and not comparable to others (or what they show us, it's probably not even the full truth what we see when others accomplish things) and even though the world has such big problems atm , you're allowed to struggle and feel whatever you're feeling. In my past, my mum used to tell me as well "other people have it worse, your problem is minor" but why even compare If it affects you? ❤ When structure, daily tasks and chores feel like huge mountains to you, that's valid, I get that feeling too. My wife (non adhd) and me (adhd) have our ups and downs, our "it works" and "it doesnt" moments; I rarely can manage to fulfill everything on the to do lists she writes me. But I think what helps the most is patience, understanding and allowing yourself to feel and to fail without guilt tripping yourself .❤

I relate to what you've said a lot, Aliona. It is emotional and it's okay to feel that way! It's very helpful to talk about it and for us to see you talking about it and feel less alone. I said on chat once that i relate to everything my durge goes through except for the actual urge lol. Feeling "broken" and "cursed" is a common theme in my experience with neurodivergence, but i also see new opportunities and perspectives and i wont let these difficulties define me! We can work our way around stuff and that's okay! It's also alright to shout shout and let it all out when feeling stressed about everything too. I've figured that i could just sing heavy metal loudly at home to justify screaming lol.

50:00 btw I think that if Jen were to be a D&D dragon, she would probably be a Gold Dragon. They breathe fire and are equivalent to the Red Dragons, but are aligned with goodness and the god Bahamut. Jen's dragon horde would probably be gold jewelry and books. Since dragons in D&D can shapeshift into.humans, what if Jen IS actually an ancient powerful dragon who also happens to be a millionaire? That explains why no one knows if she's either 16 or 52! The plot thinckens! 👀 /j

Just realised I haven't commented in a few streams now so I'm checking in in case we start taking KZbin attendance too🔎 Glad to hear Jen's enjoying the game so much in her own time, you guys worked so hard on this and I hope it makes it even more obvious how worth it it all was 💚 On what J said about being more active when starting the day with BG3, I'm autistic and I try to always start my day with some cross stitch or time on another special interest as I find it to be more restorative in terms of energy than just vegging & doing nothing and it helps me regulate better throughout the day, so maybe it's a general neurospicy thing? Sometimes I even take a project with me to work on during my lunch breaks at my job, while I'm travelling and to family gatherings as a little booster too! I think giving into the brain goblins that want you to focus on your interest is a very good thing in moderation😄 edit: oops I did the stream of consciousness thing of posting before getting all of my thoughts out in one go For A on neurodivergent relationship troubles: I'm autistic (and honestly I think adhd is a real possibility too) and my husband is adhd and I totally get this, we have different struggles most of the time but when we're both struggling with being near burnout it can be really hard on us, you guys definitely aren't alone in that. I think conversely though, when it is hard to get things done it's important to take a mental step back, acknowledge what's happening and realise that it's such a blessing to have found someone that relates and can truly understand what you're experiencing in that moment. Does it make the problem go away? Nope, not immediately, but I find that having something positive to hold onto in that moment while also acknowledging that it's hard without judgement to yourself can make it a lot easier to handle the dysregulation that's feeding into the difficulty you're having. I hope that wasn't too rambly to understand!

I agree, and people were even trying to backseat Jennifer's private durge playthrough. As she said, she is doing it her own way. I think they are past the point where they needed to be hand held every moment of the game, specially when the hands are pulling them in several different directions because people want to see something or watch them experience something they have already experienced, it's still their playthrough, if chat is going to decide everything then it's no longer them playing it, it's the chat and they're just moving the characters around. Having said that tho, I still enjoyed the stream, I just feel like even though the chat is trying to help, saying 50 different things to something that has one easily solution (let them play and only help when they ask for help) is not very helpful.

This is a little bit advanced, but take a closer look when the game asks whether you want to use Counterspell as a reaction. It costs you a level 3 spell slot (i.e. Fireball) to negate an enemy spell, and in this one you used it to block a level 1 Burning Hands, which would have done next to no damage. It doesn't make much of a difference now but there are some challenging fights later on in the game and it might prove decisive.

ooh no, For me losing Karlach is an instant reload, no matter how far in I am haha. Her and Shadowheart are my ride or dies. I mostly play as origin characters so I can get 4 of them in the party, and I swap out the other two spots. But I've honestly tried romancing other characters and just eventually ended up with either Mama K or Gods favourite princess.

@Jen if you want to get rid of the final boy in your party, Bone Daddy can summon up any number of female hirelings (you can still only take 3 people with you, any combination of origin characters and hirelings). However, none of the hirelings have any link to the overall story, so there's that. Keep Gale for story reasons, or go with the 4 girl party with one hireling.

I have 500 hours in the game, 2 honour mode runs completed and I still haven't gone Durge a single time since I can't for the life of me get myself to hurt the characters I love so much. And Jen, the actual Shadowheart, goes ahead and plays Durge in her FIRST solo playthrough?! I feel a bit intimidated by that tbh

There's only one kill in a Durge playthrough that's “mandatory”, and that character can be replaced by a random NPC no one cares about, all other kills are entirely optional (though I will say if you refrain from feeding the urge too much you will miss out on very cool exclusive Durge content so if you do decide to give it a whirl id keep that in mind)

Around the 1:30:00 mark sat really weird with me. Maybe it's my own flavor of neurodivergence, but if I have a Specific Activity scheduled for a Certain Time each week, that's what I put my attention to. It feels incredibly unnatural, counterproductive, and disrespectful to insist on de-prioritizing The Activity at Scheduled Activity Time. Maybe I'm also carrying some previous bad-faith experiences from similar sensationalist takes. Like when someone deliberately takes off work, schedules a vacation, for a game release that comes out once every 3-10 years, and their partner takes it as a personal offense that this person is... using their scheduled vacation explicitly for the purpose that they took the vacation. (This is not exaggeration in the slightest; it has very literally happened with several MMO expansion releases, including FFXIV and WoW)
