Sinking ship. Woodson had NO recruits a few months ago, and was only able to patch it up bc of Indiana’s insane NIL bc he’s terrible at recruiting and roster building. IU will always get high profile guys bc of the brand and the NIL, but IU doesn’t build “teams” anymore

Give Danny Hurley the IU lineup and they are top 5 and a in the title contender conversation. With Woodson they are in the 10 to 20 range. How they do in the tourney will strongly depend on matchups. Painter is just a different style. He wouldn't take IUs roster and win a championship. But the fact that Purdues roster is being compared to IUs is a testament to his ability to build his program.

Painter wouldn't take IU's roster because it's not about stars for Paint... its about what fits his program. And no, Hurley wouldn't win a championship with that roster, either. Even Hurley knows it takes more than just a "star rating" to be good.

What it boils down to is coaching. Developing guys this summer and figuring out how to rotate guys in appropriately and using the roster to create mismatches in your favor. As an IU fan, Woodson doesn't give me a ton of confidence.

You didn't question Woody to much his first 2 years. INJURIES and starting 2 freshman and 2 sophomores for the majority of last year. 3-3 against Purdue and 3-2 against Illinois. You never mention any of that though. Hope he makes you eat your words!

Purdue beat IU twice this year by 20 points both times. In the last 9 years Purdue beat IU 15 times and only lost 3 times. Illinois is not IU’s measuring stick. Blue bloods are UNC, Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, and UCLA.

I am a Boilermaker but on paper, IU has the better roster next year. Having said that, we should split the games. Painter is fine with any outcome, no pressure and no expectations as we train the freshman. In any case, it is going to be fun to watch.

Why is this a question? If people say Purdue's roster is better, you're CRAZY. IU has PROVEN talent and EXPERIENCE. Purdue has talent but UNPROVEN talent, bc half the team will be FRESHMEN with them having SIX high school recruits coming in. REMEMBER, young teams are NOT succeeding well in this day and age of CBB. IU has one of the top ranked transfer portal classes, plus they have the BEST player from the portal in Omar Ballo, the transfer big man from Arizona. REMEMBER, what happened to Kentucky who had like half a team with freshmen? THEY LOST IN THE FIRST ROUND IN THE NCAA TOURNEMENT.

You are buying into the fallacy that the NCAA tournament defines who has the better roster. In my view, it's the regular season that truly defines who had the better roster/team. The NCAA tournament is kind of a crapshoot. One bad shooting night for your team and a hot shooting night for the other team can mean a quick exit.
