RIP Eric Anderson. He was awesome in this tournament.
@douglascarlson90062 жыл бұрын
He actually played out of position all four years at IU ... he was not a center, he was a "4" ... Anderson had a brief stint with the Miami Heat ... I worked with a guy who went to HS with him here in Chicago ... My friend said he once asked him "who was crazier - Knight or Pat Riley" ... Anderson said "without a doubt - Riley"!

Knight dominated Harrick here, nothing more to say. I will give Harrick credit for moving on from this game and winning a title 3 years later in ‘95 (Ed O’bannon and Tyeus Edny) ...this Indiana team gelled at the right time and easily was good enough to win this tournament ...I’d also like to mention that the addition of assistant coach Norm Ellenburger was such a big part of the Indiana teams success in the early and mid 90’s

This IU team had as many very good players as just about any. Cheaney, Henderson, and Bailey are among IU's all-time greats. Graham and Anderson were very good. We fans didn't worry when Nover, Reynolds, or Meeks was playing. 8 really solid players right there. Very few IU teams had that many.
@michaeld52 жыл бұрын
I always thought the '92 team was better than the '93 team mainly because of the depth it had with Anderson and Meeks. They missed Anderson's inside presence a lot the next year....especially in the two games against Kansas.
@slpguy60262 жыл бұрын
If anything Graham was better than Bailey. He’s in IU’s top 10 all time scorers. Could easily argue he was the #2 man on the team.

@@slpguy6026 Graham was wonderful; he improved so much during his time at IU. Bailey arrived at IU nearly a finished product. Bailey likely accumulated greater career stats: Bailey 8th all-time scoring; Graham 14th Bailey 5th all-time assists with 474; Graham 304 Graham 4th all-time steals; Bailey 10th Bailey 466 career rebounds; Graham 412 Miss them both!!

Guess who is UCLA's all-time leading scorer? Don MacLean. Yes, he played four years to Lew Alcindor's three, but still. I guess I would consider MacLean a 2nd-rate Laettner, a blend of skill & jerk. MacLean averaged 18+ ppg for four seasons, very impressive. This game was his chance to enter the national consciousness by making it to the Final Four. Don, meet the Indiana Hoosiers.

@@douglascarlson9006 Sure. In the Knight era, all the Nov-Dec games were treated as preparation for the Big Ten conference games. Winning pre-conference games was secondary to developing a group of players who could play Knight’s way.

@@chrismorfas7515 Yes Chris, I definitely agree ... Knight was not afraid to lose games early in the season for this reason. One strange thing, although I'm clearly old enough to remember this, is that the broadcasters showed us the time remaining and score only at their discretion. I jumped ahead to about a third of the way in and after watching for at least 3-4 minutes I had no idea how much time was left before the half or the score. Why did it take so long for them to figure out that the audience would like to know both at all times? I suspect it wasn't until the late 90's before the viewer got this convenience.
