I know at times many glorify being from the "hood" by saying "My hood is the roughest of them all." However, regardless of how rough your area is, let's pray for each of our cities to become more livable and safe. Doing that, more than glorifying the depravity helps ensure that our families, that still live in these homes, have a fighting chance to excel. Who's with me?

I'm not. I've seen areas that look like this in about every city. I can look outside and see over my city a little. One area you see tall office buildings, hospitals, hotels, and nice lofts. To the south and west it's old houses and buildings out along smoke stacks and the old Mills and stuff big enough to see from here. And those places are where you hear gun fire echoing from occasionally. But I tell people that where I live isn't dangerous. But there is drug activity, and that leads to violence and it happens in the nice neighborhoods sometimes too.

I mean people having felonies and evictions kind of sounds like there’s a reason the neighborhood looks like a war zone. I completely understand that some felonies are ridiculous, but there’s no coincidence that habitual felons happen to live in places with no upkeep. I swear it really isn’t that hard to avoid getting felonies. Paying rent is pretty simple too. People prioritize everything except being an adult and then wonder why their neighborhood crumbles around then.

@@jeananndillon979 you are correct. I wish some businesses would start coming back to areas such as far east side and Martindale, Irvington. I also wish the city put more effort into cleaning up blight and bando's that are commonly used for criminal activity. The city needs to provide more resources for our youth, particularly in urban areas where mainly single parent families reside. Also wish they would do more for our homeless vets. Our criminal justice system is a revolving door for alot of inner city youth. They need resources available to help them overcome and succeed in breaking that cycle of crime. We also need to hold leadership responsible, i dont feel that they have control of the city. Murders, shootings, assaults and robbery are all on the rise, and the murders dont seem to get solved like they once did. Hard to solve crimes when your detectives are overloaded with too many cases

Its sickening how the city planners continually allow the owners of many LARGE apartment complexes to destroy those communities & surrounding areas. For money, regulations are overlooked, bad tenants are encouraged to rent, maintenance crew lessened or pulled. Criminal haven, while average Joe's trying to live have to suffer from the negligence. Same on parts of south INDY as well. Raymond, Prospect, Beechgrove, Twinaire area's.
