This is one of the fewest videos on KZbin that the sound of real Tanpura is audible. And panditji always use electronic tanpura on stage. Anyway, superb performance by a real artist.

Well, I would definitely prefer the sound of sarangi to harmonium. Very regretfully, after many years of struggle, harmonium made its way into classical music. In my collection of Hindustani CDs there is not a single on with harmonium.

@@memdaletpey I am glad Harmonium took off in place of Sarangi. It is a dying art now. I tried learning Sarangi but gave up because of the fee quoted by most teachers. They quoted me the fee in US dollars and not even in rupees. It is financially more comfortable to learn classical vocal or other instruments rather than Sarangi. Harmonium, though not as melodic as the Sarangi, still serves the purpose and has provided livelihood for many players. I am happy.

It was when mian tansen ji sung on the darbar of Akbar on the request of the emporer by adding some of his contribution , then it came to known as Darbari Kanada..like mian ki todi, mian ki malhar, darbari Kannada was a creation of mian tansen.. There are many other Kanada based ragas are their like kafi Kanada, nayaki Kanada, lankeshwari Kanada, abhogi Kanada..etc..

@AKS with due respect to Indian culture......Notes are not sufficient Tune is required then tune is not sufficient then song is required. People want to hear phrases, sentences not grammer. Grammer is base for learning. What you will do with your learning if you do not use it. How many people recognise Rafi Sahab and how many recognise Guru Ji Ajoy Chakraborty. Hope there is no requirement to show the percentage. Everyone knows that. Grammer is learning that can only be recognised by students but not the mass. Mass will only relate melodious songs. They don't want ghee they want sweets made of Ghee. Hope i haven't hurt you. And if you think so then pardon me for sharing my thinking. It is not necessary that my thinking will always be correct. 🙏🙏🙏
