Gratitude to Bazm e Khas and Shahidji for presenting an archival Darbari. Thanks to you tube which has improved transmission quality Think it is 256 Kbps. AirPlay gives 48.1 sampling rate. But credit of high quality sound goes to B e K. Because in audio garbage in garbage out. Super production. Walking along Etawah road and not falling into VK trap is Ss biggest achievement . He has carved his own path from tone of instrument to interpretation of ragas. More introspective. Strange he is still a Shree whereas much lesser kalakars have been awarded Bhushans. Don't know if he has got SNA award. Time he is given due honour. Unquestionably best sitarist after the great triumvirate. Once again thanks B e K.

Listening Ustadji's sitar is like a personal meeting with god....while other sitar artists are like sculptures of god..... Itna fark hai ustad ji ki sitar playing me..... Inse behtar sitar playing kisi ki ho hi nahi skti..... Ati drut lay mein bhi jo command hai and har ek notes clearly identify kar pao..... Just amazing......

The composition of the initial alaap is no doubt inspired by Ustad villayat khan's London performance. Taking nothing away from Ustad shahid khan's brilliance but that performance from Ustad villayat Khan is "one for the ages". Time just seemed to stand till when he gave us that absolutely unbelievable and magical rendition of darbari.

Such a high standard of Darbari rendition has been set by his guru, Ustadji has seriously tried his level best to touch his feet. He has the same flamboyance but lacks that extra depth , emotion Usyad VK used to infuse. Still from 24.00 onwards, Shahidji was magical. Of course, he was missing some master like Pt Samta Prasad or Pt Kishen Maharaj. And the conclusion was surprisingly abrupt.
