I pray that all of you understand that there is no competition when two legends meet it is just compliments to each other to get the best out of each other. They aren't competing they are just enjoying and complimenting each other. Listen carefully from 9.41 to 11.09. One says you are great other says no you are greater it just gives me a thought of how Vishnuji and Shivji have a conversation in front of their deciples. They are one United by 1 power but different in their own beautiful ways. Wow. Bhakts like Shiv who like Shiv Bhakts like Vishnu who like him but they are both two close different versions of sa re ga ma pa dhi na sa they are ultimately the same the best versions of each other one thinks he is wow the other thinks he is wow but both are devine nobody is superior nobody is inferior they are just the best versions of each other. The love the respect is like seeing and experiencing heaven on earth. Can't explain this in this dimension

I am literally feeling like you shook my hand saying this. 🤝 I recently attended a jugalbandi between two female vocalists at Modern barakhamba school. Malini Awasthi keeps dominating and leaving the notes on such higher notes for Sunanda Sharma ji to pick, it was clearly visible why Sunanda Sharma ji declined to do jugalbandi with her in the first place. And then when you see a performance like this, pure love and admiration for each other, it's incredibly beautiful.

The clear difference in the reditions of Hindustani classical and Carnatical classical , wow, it's a treat to ears.. These days sometimes it blurs the lines between the two during the rendition, but back then, your ears can differentiate both.. This is pure divine.. Thanks for this gem of an upload! Rare and awesome.. The gliding through the notes in the Hindustani style and the clear cut through notes and rendered in the Carnatic style.. Wow, they were both experts in their styles of singing sticking to their genre.. It just shows the beauty of both the style.. purity!! This is pure bliss to listen!!

Balamuralikrishna is undoubtedly a great classical singer. But, in front of Bhimsen Joshi he is kind of underwhelming.

They are from different classical systems. Only common factor is the raaga which is to some extent matching. Bhimsen joshi tried to follow BMK in swara singing, but that requires immese training, he tried simple ones, he could not follow the complext swara singing by BMK. It is ironic that BMK was not considered for Bharat Ratna as he was equal or more in talent when compared to BJ. Hope the discriminations will not continue.

Hindustani classical is a tad more flash value compared to Carnatic's complex structure Probably that's why u feel that way... Dr BK has even created Ragas in Carnatic

Balamurali ji cannot sing that much fast and that much slow like bhimsen joshi ji and he can only sing kritis,tillanas etc but bhimsen ji can sing all components like khyal,thumri,dhun,dadra,dhrupad,dhamar,bhajans etc where balamurali ji cannot sing these compositions.if you notice in every jugalbandis between them bhimsen ji and balamurali ji sang only medium tempo compositions because balamurali ji and other carnatic musicians cannot cope up slow,very slow,fast and very fast compositions

Bhimsen joshi ji can sing a very fast taan for several avartans which is impossible for carnatic musicians,in vilambit tempo in which 1 avartan goes for 1min or above 1min,bhimsen joshi ji sang fast taans for 3 -5 avartans which will take 3 -4.5 mins. Balamurali ji was a legendary unimaginable singer but he didn't perfect pitch as much as bhimsen ji.bhimsen Ji's voice never got seperated from sruti even when he sing gamaks,meends,andolans etc but carnatic musicians didn't have that much pitch perfection like hindustani
