Having a separate breakfast room and formal dining room is very common, even in 190 sm house. The breakfast room is where a family eats most of their meals. The formal dining room is where you would have big family celebrations on holidays. If you dont need both spaces the dining room can be turned into a library or an office. Typical (120sm and 210sm) houses will have a 2-car garage, living, dining, kitchen with pantry,, breakfast, 3 to 4 bedrooms with closets, 2 full bathrooms with tub, shower or both, maybe a half bath with just sink and toilet, maybe a utility room for the washer and dryer,.

This home was probably built in the 1990's - 2000's era. The upper/middle class homes was usually built with a formal living room and formal dining room in addition to the family room and breakfast room. The formal rooms were for holidays, special events, or certain guest that you wanted to impress. The family and breakfast was for everyday use and also for close friends/family. It is a design that goes back well into the 1800's but this time period was when people began to rethink the formal areas for different usage. The child's playroom was probably intended to be a home office. Also, the basement area is the fun stuff, like games, movies, home bar/pub, but it's primary use is house mechanics (furnace, water heater, etc) and safety in case of tornados. A nursery in the USA is a baby's room. It appears this family is wanting another child. Hope this helps.

This is not the home of rich people. These people are young working class people. Depending on the location of this house I would say that this family is just a middle class with both partners working a regular job. In some places a house this large would cost a lot of money. Perhaps 700K+ but in some cities this house would cost under

Wood was historically readily available almost everywhere here, and while it is not cheap anymore, it's often seen as more hygienic and easier to keep clean than carpet. Many people will only have carpet in bedrooms or the family room/living room where they want to be cozier. So, wood floors are traditional and modern at the same time. I have pets, so I personally prefer easy-to-maintain wood-look vinyl with rugs in certain areas for comfort.

They’re a young family and bought this house to grow into as their family grows. The Nursery, is for their future baby, it’s a room with the crib, changing table, rocking chair, for rocking baby to sleep and late night feeding time. The ‘downstairs’ is better know as the basement, which many houses in the states have depending on where in the country you live. It’s too bad she didn’t show her pantry, laundry room or garage, but this is a good sized house for a family to grow up in.

Pallet or ship board walls are planks of wood on the wall (or ceiling). Some people (I sure don’t have one) use the master sitting room as a place to drink coffee or a snack before they dress to “greet” the household. 😅 Yes, this is what I’d call upper class. I sure couldn’t afford a house like that! 😂 The downstairs is the basement. So it’s underground. 😂

As an American, I also think they are crazy for buying a house that is so much larger than they need. I hate having to clean my 1500 square foot house; there's no way I want to deal with furnishing and maintaining something like that, even if I had a maid service! But, that's just my personal preference. People seem to think they must have a thousand square feet of space for each family member.

She's making me feel poor! I could be wrong but I'm guessing perhaps the parents of this couple helped them buy this house. Very beautiful house but there will be a hefty mortgage that they will have to pay for many, many years. They are young, though.

I was thinking the same thing. My kids are very young adults and even with good college educations there's no way they are buying a house in the Seattle area without our help. Before I retired last year I worked with many young engineers and aerospace professionals and they struggle to afford a nice house in this current market. We were very fortunate that the housing market and interest rates were so favorable for us when we were mid career and earning good money. At the time our home cost 3 to 4 times our annual income. Today its more like 5 or 6 times and rising. It's difficult for young people to live and save for such a hefty down payment. We had it good, but it sure didn't feel like it at the time. lol...

Where do you live? Because everything with regards to houses prices is predicated on where you live. I grew up in San Diego back in the 60's and 70's. My family home sold for 180K back in 1984 (that was a lot of money then) today that 2200 sqft house according to Zillow is worth between $1.3 and $1.6 million dollars. My dad would turn over in his grave if he could hear that. Its crazy!! However, you could buy a 2200 sqft house built the same year, in the suburbs of Atlanta or Houston for $350K. My dad retired back in 2002 and moved from Long Beach, California to Arizona City, AZ. He built a beautiful custom house with 1 ft thick adobe walls, 2 X1,000 sqft master suites (plus 2 additional bedrooms,) the grandest entryway with a custom designed family crest set into the flooring, custom cabinets and a 4 car garage/ shop on 20 acres for $320K. The walls on that house were so thick that running the air conditioning for an hour or two a day kept the interior at 68F all day. Same in the winter. I hated to sell that house after he died but there is nothing out there in Arizona City but sand and coyotes. I can't even imagine what that house would have cost to build in Long Beach at that time. Millions for sure. It's all about location.♥ Forgive me for stating the obvious. I know you already knew that. ♣
