Wal-mart is not a bulk store. Costco and Sam's Club are bulk stores.

True, BJs as well, but from the perspective of Brits or Indians, Walmart's have lots of food & household items in oversized packages that their grocery stores don't carry (even lots of supermarkets in the US don't carry).

About 5 years ago an immigrant family of Sikh arrived to my small city. I saw the mother crying when she walked into Walmart looking at all the available food. They all shared a small two bedroom apartment and all of them combined all their money from all the entry level jobs they could find. Now, 5 years later, that family owns all the Subway franchises in my area and all the sons are in college. One of the uncles is a truck driver.

A lot of the stuff in the clear plastic I think is local baked as in store, and the fruit cut in store. Easy cheese is spray cheese it is not watery
@AndrewColombana
@AndrewColombana 6 ай бұрын
The 'easy cheese' is under pressure so all you have to do is line up the tube that sticks out where you want to direct the cheese and just push against the tube and it comes out like a smooth flowing gob. Stop pushing against the tube and it springs back straight and stops the flow.

Walmart Super centers has a little of everything,just not necessarily the variety of each thing you find in more specialty store. Besides food, they have an automotive section, electronic (computers, games, tv, ect.), books, fabrics, paints, toys, gardening, clothing, pharmacy, cosmetics, jewelry, shoes, personal care items, baby items, home goods (small appliances, cookware,pillows, sheets), hobbies, sports, fishing, camping, hunting, pharmacy and I am sure I missed a few things. They also typically have a few other shops in side them like, banks, optometrists, hair salon, and usually a fast food restaurant ( usually a Subway, they sell sub sandwiches) . FYI there are also smaller Walmart's called a "Neighborhood Market" that more like our normal grocery stores.

An American might be similarly surprised by how much cheaper groceries are in the UK. I watched a video showing the differences and it's crazy.
@mikeef747
@mikeef747 6 ай бұрын
@@fluffylittlebear It relative to where you are in the US, plus the Pound is worth more and average household income in the US is $85k, the average in the UK is $51k under standard nominal GDP per capita. When using PPP it's $58k for the UK, PPP doesn't change the value for the US, it remains $85k because it's based on the dollar. The UK is 95k sq miles, the US is 3.7million sq miles, so there is huge variation depending on your geographical location, as gas to move food is not free. According to Numbeo NY is $6-7 more per day per person than Texas. Honolulu Hawaii is almost $9 more per day.

The reason most of what they got was pretty cheap is because they purchased mostly the Walmart brand of each item. The brand is called Great Value. Most of the suppliers are actually the same as for name brands, but the recipes are slightly different. Great Value is the grocery brand, but they also have their own pharmacy/wellness brand, childcare products brand, dog food, cat food, and almost everything else you can think of. It's cheaper because there are no costs for Wal-mart to manufacture the products, the packaging is generic and sometimes lower quality, and they don't have any additional advertising cost. Because Wal-mart is huge and orders so much from each supplier, they can get the products for much cheaper than a grocery store that typically buys from a third-party supplier or warehouse.
@blueboy4244
@blueboy4244 6 ай бұрын
also -sometimes the wallmart version of a manufactures product is not exactly the same even if it has the same product number - for instance oil filters sold at wallmart and not the same as the same 'number' product sold in an auto parts store - they have less layers of filtering paper or something.. they fit the same and do the same job.. however they are cheaper made and thus can be sold for less (saw that on 60 minutes years back)

She only showed you part of the produce (fruit and vegetables) department, bakery, deli (already prepared foods), cereal and cookie aisles. And a little of the clothing department. She didn’t show you the rest of the store which would be separate clothing departments for babies, children, women and men, shoe department, household cleaning products, electronics, office supplies, housewares, pharmacy and personal care, sports equipment, auto and boat maintenance, the seasonal section and the garden department.

Actually, if you want bulk items, then your best bet is going to Sam’s Club, which is owned by Walmart and that is one of the places that like restaurants and stuff go to to get their food because that place is major bulk and you need to pay every year for a membership to shop there

They have some prepared food you can heat but they have everything fresh. Also then they have frozen foods to but most not most half America cooks very well because remember I like my families from Italy. My grandparents moved here so I know how to make homemade pastas everything I don’t have to go into it, but anything I can make like a restaurant and then we’re all good on the grill with steaks with chicken with ribs, barbecue all that stuff because barbecue doesn’t mean grill barbecue means of type of grilling or smoking. But we’re all pretty good cooks in the United States. The only bad coach of people that buy stuff from a can in a jar and they mix it together and they think that’s cooking cooking is with all fresh ingredients fresh herbs.

@theloudguys The spray cheese that is in the can comes out like a can of whipped cream does, meaning you have to turn it upside down and push on the nozzle and it slowly comes out of the can, in the USA by law the cheese in spray cheese has to be 51% minimum cheese.....it is not liquidy as you said but it has the consistency of toothpaste.

Lol we have the same reaction to all the sugary pastries and cakes. I have a problem with sugar addiction too lol I have to look the other way, otherwise I will back out and then magically wake up in the WalMart parking lot with $50 worth of cakes and pastries. To be fair, a lot of the sweets at WalMart are actually freaking delicious - and I'm a chef with 20 years in the business, so I know food. I can buy pastries for less than it would cost me to make it myself. This is impressive, and they make it possible because they buying directly from the producers and they own most of the companies that bake these pastries, and they buy ingredients and raw materials on a massive scale which drops the price dramatically. It's not the BEST baked goods, but as far as having a decent quality item at a far lower price than anywhere else, there is nothing to complain about.
