The Kerala Express is a daily superfast express train of the Indian Railways that runs between New Delhi and Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala state. The train is running with LHB rakes with effect from 4th November 2018. It is currently the longest running daily Superfast Train of Indian Railways. Rail Enthusiasts call Kerala Express as "Offlink King of Indian Railways", "The King", "King of Overtakes", "Pride of Kerala",etc.
The Kerala Express was introduced in 1977 as a split train named Kerala - Karnataka (KK) Express . The composition of Karnataka-Kerala Express has been increased from 14 coaches to 21 coaches with effect from January 29, 1981.
On June 10, 2019, during the 2019 Indian heat wave, four pilgrims from Tamil Nadu died due to heat exposure in the Kerala Express as it traveled south through the Bundelkhand, before the train arrived at Jhansi Junction.
The 12625/26 Kerala Express runs from Thiruvananthapuram via Kollam, Kottayam, Ernakulam Town, Palakkad, Coimbatore, Tirupati, Vijayawada, Balharshah, Nagpur, Bhopal,Jhansi,Agra, Mathura to New Delhi
The train 12626 leaves New Delhi at 11:25 on day 1 and reaches Trivandrum at 15:15 on day 3.It takes 51 hrs 50 mins to reach from its source to the destination.
In the opposite direction, 12625 leaves Trivandrum at 11:15 on day 1 and reaches New Delhi at 13:45 on day 3.It takes 50 hrs 30 mins to reach from its source to the destination.
Since the entire route is fully electrified, this train is hauled by a WAP 7 locomotive from Royapuram or Erode electric locomotive shed on its entire journey.

This train is king of overtakes only after crossing the boundary of tamil nadu in kerala it's usually gets overtaken by tvc bound j.shbd between ern and ktym and it also takes 5 hours to cover the distance between ern and tvc in downward journey while mail/exp trains completes the journey within 4.5 hrs but in downward journey it covers the same distance in 4.20 mins

I have travelled by it twice in the last 4 years. 2627 Karnataka has RSA with Bengaluru-Chennai Mail with the PC of Karnataka being detached at SBC after its arrival.

Going by my experience, among northern zones NE n NW Railways are the best in terms of rake maintenance. I have travelled by 12511 between MAS-ED n thereafter by 12688 between ED-KRR, I was going to TPJ.

@aa ns no Rapti is an SFE, long distance express. It comes to MAS at or after midnight at about 1.30 or 2.30, the day I took it it was one hour late. But it left MAS by 3 am I think, and it got very good priority en route, and reached ED only around 30 mts. late. Yes, it comes to MAS at about 1 am or something and 2688 comes after one hour at 2.30 am. But 2511 gets good priority through out and because of that I was able to catch 2688 for going up to KRR.
