A resolution to rename India as Bharat may be brought in by the government during Parliament's upcoming special session that is scheduled from September 18-22. The Constitution of India currently refers to the country as "India, that is Bharat...", but there is a growing call to amend this to simply "Bharat" The demand to rename India as Bharat by amending the Constitution has intensified and sources said the Centre may bring a resolution to rename India.

2:00-3:12 Mr Pattnaik very predictably advertised this mentality of "let others do it since it's characteristic to them but let us choose inaction because we are not like them" by leveraging the foolish, self-righteous, emotional garb of owning one's pluralism. Yesterday this conversation had different format. Both participants were in discussion/dialog mode. The present one is in the form of two lectures by Devdutt and Sanyal. Why was the original conversation suddenly taken off KZbin ? Who objected to the format ? Sanyal or Devdutt ? Devdutt became more assertive in the present one. Devdutt is backward. He only studies, interprets , and disseminates mythology. Sangh pariwar is forward looking. It creates mythology. Sangh has clear objectives and strategy to achieve goals. They don't do anything without a purpose. They are also proactive and take the initiative. I really appreciate the strategic thinkers in the backroom who evolve strategies. Any one who opposes them is only in reactive mode. Any religion must take the control over the thoughts of the target people. Words are powerful. They can both aid or interfere with the pracharak's goals. Making the word "India" as foreign is an intelligent ploy. It appears that the ruling dispensation feels that "oneness" against the "other" (unite the Hindus to created divide between Hindus and foreign religions) will continue to yield electoral results. Will economic law of diminishing returns apply to this situation ? We Indians (and Hindus) are diverse groups. There is no need to "unite" us. We have been living in our zones as well as interacting with different internal cultures fairly well since independence. It is our diversity that has sustained democracy. Not our wisdom. We are as human as anyone else in the world. Democracy essentially means freedom of thought and action to the individual. There are two axis of freedoms- social and economic. The current regime offer low level of freedom on both axis. It's time for citizens to think about the underlying objectives and purpose. Indians need freedom and economic well-being. Hope we get it

Bharat is the name for Aryavarta, historically the land of aryans. It doesn't include easternmost part and southern india below Vindya range. Infact textually Bharat refers more of Pakisthan, Bangladesh and eastern afghanistan. Ambedkar was forced to include the word bharat. Sindhu is a Tamil rooted word from which India was mispronounced. They should then rename India has sindhu as well.

Sanjeev is a "historian", I hardly saw any "history" as such in whatever he was saying. Listing mythologies, beliefs, traditions when we go pre-historical is fine, but a serious historian would relate them with suitable disclaimers to set it in context properly which he miserably failed to do. Yet I was going along with many things he was saying abt Vedic stories etc because I am not much familiar with them but it's when he decided to veer south and touch upon Tholkappiyam @25:14 (with some weird insecurity abt Periyarists which made him slip probably), I found him to be so wanting that I now doubt all the other things he said. FIrst it's Thol Kappiyam not Thol Pakkiyam as he said multiple times. And no it's not the "oldest known" Tamil text at all. Tholkappiyam comes after the Agam-Porul poems of the Sangam age. And no, there is no "first enunciation of Tamil identity" (though a description of Tamil speaking land is there as he said) and no no no it absolutely does not say that "identity" is "rooted in the four vedas" This kinda straight up making up of history, and such important history for ppl, is frankly offensive. Devdutt talked abt "brahmins appropriating" (though I have doubts if that happened with the "Bharat" story) but that's exactly what Sanjeev did in this case, and many of his ilk try to do all the time when talking about national communities. Stop appropriating our identities and histories and stick your "Bharatiya" "Vedic" identity on top of them. It's 2023 mate, it's offensive and condemnable.

All the mumbo jumbo we hear abt Sanatan, Aryavarta, Vedas etc etc, come at least a 1000 yrs after the Indus valley civilization, and they all represent a civlization much inferior, less advanced than IVC. So dont reduce our history to Vedic history, this land is far beyond all of it.

The name India has been mispronounced and given by foreigners even though the origin of the word India is from our Sindhu or Sapta Sindhu! The naming of Bharat by present government is being portrayed in a bad way by Devdutta in his imaginative style where as Sanjeev puts it across nicely. How smartly Mr Sanjeev Sanyal skipped the fact that the 1st mention of Bharat was by the Jain tradition, by way of Rishabhnath's (ikshvaku) son Bharat. He didn't even mention it when he was asked about the origin of the word bharat. What a shame, Some extremist like him don't want to give the due respect & acknowledgement of facts to the other Bhartiya Sanskriti.
