Mexico has elected Claudia Sheinbaum, a climate scientist and former mayor of Mexico City, as its new president, marking a significant step for gender parity.
Concerns exist that Sheinbaum is a handpicked successor of her predecessor, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, better known as AMLO, and may be captive to his agenda. Critics argue she lacks charisma, and despite not being on the ballot, AMLO's influence loomed large during the election. So, have Mexicans placed more faith in the party than in Claudia? Is the mandate more for the left party?
Will Sheinbaum's governance differ? Although intellectually a nationalist, her campaign emphasised policy continuity and protecting AMLO's legacy over her own proposals.

Religion is NOT a primary issue in Mexico. In fact, the most distrust religion is the Church of Rome (Catholic Church) which sides with the right wing conservatives of Mexico.

Is this a very conservative program for Indian ladies? I do not mean it in a bad way, but rather a descriptive manner. Whatever the case, it is not a justification for such poor analysis. The research and context is very lacking, all just US general talking points. Nobody wants her to break away from AMLO's project, the 4th transformation of Mexico, we voted for her massively to have the power to make the constitutional changes that AMLO was blocked from doing and the huge majority of the people want. He did not hand pick her, there were party processes and voting behind. AMLO is not reelecting himself not just because he can't, he does not want to. We had a 10 year revolution war in 1910 where one of the main demands from the people and revolutionaries was : effective voting and NO reelection. AMLO is close ideologically to that movement and even though many many people wanted him to change the constitution to reelect him, he did the contrary: gave us a constitutional option to impeach and kick out a president at the middle of his or her term and submitted himself to it. Sheinbaum is Jewish ethnically, from Bulgaria and Lithuania, 3rd generation Mexican and an atheist. And she is not a Zionist. Also, you've seen "narcos" on netflix so you know how it is in Mexico and Colombia? Think about that statement again. Disappointing analysis, anybody reading this can recommend a channel from India that goes in deeper and does some research?

Morena just became a political party in the last decade, to say people can’t form their own parties is not accurate. Mexico is serving as example for other countries who are tired of the two party system. We actually had 7 parties on the political ballets this election cycle: PAN, PRI, PRD, Morena, MC, PT, PV. Mexicans are NOT stupid. They know who they want for president and a leadership to guide the country. Thanks to Lopez Obrador for doing that. The fact is, the Mexican "Catholic" Church betrayed President Lopez Obrador for the six year he was president. In Mexico, religion doesn't mean much in politics. Mexican citizens did not bother with all those critics, mainly because they are lies. I'm disappointed the host to the right did not do her homework. Most of those talking points come from oligarchs, whom are backed by US funds. When you defeat your opponent 2 to 1 and win a super majority in congress to allow you to modify the constitution, people definitely know who you are and what you want to do. Mexican's gave her exactly what she needed to continue AMLO's work.

20:00 The political parties that are currently opposing AMLO and Sheinbaum are also responsible for the security crisis in Mexico, because no opposition party dared to systematically confront the severe incompetence and corruption of the Federal and Local attorneys and prosecutors in the past 6 years. Xóchitl Gálvez 23:33 and her party share the blame for the lack of feasible solutions in this crisis. Mexican laws establish that the national and local attorneys and prosecutors have management autonomy, they have autonomy to initiate criminal investigations without the intervention or command of the president or governor in charge of the federal or local executive powers. Mexican laws confer faculties to the members of the federal and local congresses (the federal and local deputies and the federal senators [Gálvez has a seat in the Mexican Senate]), faculties to evaluate the performance of the attorneys, to initiate trials for the removal of bad prosecutors, and to legislate to improve the structure and processes of the institutions in charge of criminal investigation and litigation. However, no member of the local and federal congresses fulfill their constitutional responsibilities, they are not doing their job, they are not using those faculties. The opposition parties, even having a majority of seats in local congresses, do nothing to correct the malfunction of the prosecution services.

The opposition always complain that AMLO has too much power. However, when the opposition has the opportunity to balance AMLO's power and do something by means of confronting corruption and evaluating and criticizing the performance of the prosecutors, the members of the opposition ignore their responsibilities and charge AMLO with all of the blame in order to undermine his public image. If the Mexican opposition had a real commitment against corruption and incompetence, if the members of the opposition were brave enough to purify their parties and end their relationships with criminals, the opposition would've won the elections. AMLO and his party are also responible for not confronting the incompetence, selectiveness, methods and vengeful attitude of the Federal Attorney Mr Gertz-Manero (a fossil of the ancient system whose team is unable to sustain accusations in trials, a team that is losing important cases of corruption and human rights violations, a team that enables the defense lawyers of the corrupts to have advantages and win in trials, Gertz-Manero is a hidden coward untouched by the Mexican media groups), but the opposition, including Mrs Gálvez, cynically throws the stone and hide their hands. That's why the opposition parties were crushed in these elections, because they do not help the common folk and were just awaiting the falling of president AMLO.

How good it is to talk about Mexico in a country as far away as India. Perhaps it is that distance that causes misinterpretations and certain wrong information. I do not understand why there is so much emphasis on the difficulty that Claudia Sheimbaum will have in breaking with AMLO's policies. In fact, in Mexico she is expected to continue with a good part of them but with a fresher and renewed vision. I agree with You guys, it's about old and new school, but for Mexico it has worked much better than what we had before AMLO. To understand this success, we must know who the opponents of MORENA (Obrador and Claudia's party) are and what they did. We live in a country that lives with the legacy of decades of corruption, privatization of national assets, concentration of wealth in groups of illegal families and alliances, surrender to foreign interests, etc. On the other hand, a very good part of the responsibility for crime and violence in Mexico lies with our neighbor to the north, the United States, which does nothing to control and reduce drug consumption in its country, infiltrating hundreds of weapons into our country (in Mexico it does not weapons are manufactured, there is no industry or technology for that) and finally, the US, Canada and Europe have historically taken it upon themselves to infiltrate the internal affairs of Latin America, to exploit our natural resources in their favor and use us politically at will, impoverishing the region and causing illegal migration. Given all this, AMLO and Claudia Sheimbaum are doing very well for Mexico. P.S. Claudia's parents are in no way very influential figures in public life or politics in Mexico, they are just people with good academic training, left-wing ideas and successful in their professions, they belong to a middle class in the capital and nothing more than that.

This is my first time watching this channel, as a Mexican citizen I perceive that there is a conceptual bias in the analysis of both parties, which indicates a limited inquiry into the issues they are trying to show. Such as: 1. Amlo puts democracy at risk 2. The erroneous statement about "the attack" on the judiciary. 3. slash funding f the electoral institute, These three topics are taken as truths and their analysis starts from there, which shows two things: one is ignorance and bias, and the other a possible tendency to insert a prefabricated opinion. Most Mexicans know that none of the three issues mentioned are as the interviewer said. The love of truth was not presented in this programme.
