I think a LOT of ppl would be VERY interested to know more about this, as it explains pretty perfectly HOW Murdaugh & his ilk get to greasing the wheels of Justice throughout SC the way they do... & how very dangerous this is to victims & other residents of the state. As a resident of NC, it blew my mind to learn that, though SC has LESS attorneys than North AND South Dakota, lawyer-legislators make up A THIRD of the legislature in SC!! That's insanity, considering that WOMEN only make up ONE PERCENT of that same body. These indictments are important, but only if they solidify the reimbursements to defrauded clients in the end. Legal ease has a tendency to get attorneys paid and eat up remaining funds. Maybe the Feds will find the off-shore honey pot the Murdaugh clan is criminally protecting. That would be key as state powers are limited in these areas of investigation.

I had to look this up - but it seems like the convention is that you serve in the court you were convicted in first - however the second one may call for a consecutive sentence… so basically he’s staying in state prison unless he gets out of his convictions.

There is nothing wrong with sending business to people you know to be reliable, if that is the extent of the interaction. If Flemming had faithfully represented the Satterfield sons interests, he wouldn't be looking at prison time today. Misrepresenting his subsequent actions to the court and collecting fees he wasn't entitled to is where he ran afoul of the law.

I have trouble believing that the law firm that he was with didn't know anything about this. Especially for all those years. I think they were complicit in it. Maybe they didn't know how far it went but come on they knew something. They knew something they had to. I know how trust accounts work I just don't believe they didn't know

I think there is a rule in SC that you cannot use testimony of a defendant on "other matters" in one case to prove a defendant broke laws in a subsequent case. So now it makes sense that they need Cory to prove their case in the event they were "state" charges. I assume they can use the testimony from the murder trial for the Federal Indictment...

Fleming will be incarcerated in the Federal Corrections Institute in Butner, North Carolina (near Durham, NC). This is where Bernie Madoff resided for the last 12 years of his life, dying of kidney failure at age 82. His original Ponzi scheme involved $20 BILLION in client cash losses, and $65 billion in paper losses. He continued to con others even while incarcerated! The Federal Bureau of Prisons exclusively sells Swiss Miss hot cocoa mix in its prison commissary. Prisoners usually have access to the commissary/canteen weekly or monthly, depending on the prison and the prisoner's status. Hot cocoa is a favorite drink/snack item. Madoff "made a deal" with the commissary administrator to purchase ALL the Swiss Miss cocoa mix every time it was delivered, so other prisoners did not have access to it. Madoff then "sold" it to inmates at HIS price--during their recreation time and others. It used to be that cigarettes were the primary barter/bribery tool in prison. Now that tobacco products are banned in Federal--and most local, county, and state jails--prisons, Ramen Noodle Cups (60 cents in the commissary) and Swiss Miss packets are the primary bribery/barter tools in federal and state facilities.

What do you think about alex telling buster to go hunting at mosselle after the murders on the prison phone call, makes me wonder if he had a stash hidden, and wanted buster to go get it. Buster acted kinda strange on the phone, but not in a chilled way, like my mom and brother were murdered there reaction, but like he kinda knew what alec was getting at. Many people have commented that alec would say he had one son, buster, who was the favorite of maggie and alec, while paul was the problem child causing social embarrassment. Like the way they had no physical evidence and the way they presented the evidence they had in the second trial was improper which is why it was disallowed in the first trial, which resulted in a hung jury with majority voting not guilty.
