A lot of us don't realize just how much effort people have to put in to make all of these incredible things. I may like some indie shows more than others, just cuz I have a preference for shows that I like, but I'm not going to compare them because they are all amazing works of art and the creators put a lot of effort into making them.

It makes no sense to me that people like to compare two different shows, made by two completely different studios with very different styles of humor, characters, and world building. It’s like when critics and movie reviewers try to compare Disney with Dreamworks, Sony, and illumination; or Marvel vs. DC and Star Wars vs. Star Trek They are very different companies who make very different pieces of work so its not fair to compete to see which is better, instead we should appreciate all of them & gatekeep people in and out of communities just because you have a personal preference

My favourite indie show is helluva boss but that doesn't mean that I believe that all the other shows are shit, I watched pretty much all of the popular indie shows and the semi-popular ones and all of them were enjoyable, some interesting, some funny, some cute, some I really liked the animation/artstyle but none were bad I just prefer helluva boss because it speaks to me, I like nearly everything about it but I still hope to see some improvements to it like I want characters like Millie to get more individual spotlight. Overall when I saw this video I cheered, good thumbail I like how it mirrors the other one which makes it obvious what other video this one is telling off.

Just wanna clarify, Pink king (the person who made the Digital Circus vs Helluva Boss video) has made a video explaining that he wasn't necessarily trying to pit the shows against each other or that he didn't like one of them, but he made the video because he likes discussing his interests and wants to see Helluva Boss improve from where it is now. People just took the thumbnail out of context and assumed he was mocking Vivziepop directly.

I never understood why people compare indie animated shows. Sure, I may not like Helluva Boss that much but I can’t deny that it HAS allowed talent to animate for something great. It may not be my favorite thing in the world, but it’s still exists and it’s still doing good for artists. Glitch getting their show on something like Netflix is extraordinary and something I’ve never really seen done before. They’re still independently funded and still helping people tell the stories that they want to tell and allow the creators to end the stories on their own terms. Which is absolutely insane to me… and something I never really thought could be done until they did it. It’s inspiring. So many things are changing, and that’s not a bad thing. But for the love of God, y’all please stop comparing shows. We can acknowledge the flaws that they have but at least also acknowledge that there’s still good in what IS being done and give constructive criticism on what could be improved

Now that you mention about Indie Animation not being a competition, this is what's going to be difficult about when I publish Glitches to Riches: A Fan's Journey. It's not just getting a shout-out from friends, family, SMG4, Glitch, the staff, and the voice actors of the Glitch indie animation shows, it's about getting a shout-out to each of the indie animation groups. I was over at KadabraCon in Corpus Christi, Texas, and Lizzie Freeman and Michael Kovach told me that the title "Glitches to Riches", any SMG4 and Glitch references, Digital Circus references, and the voice actors feeling uncomfortable from getting a shout-out, I have to ask the staff of Glitch to see if it's okay to use those titles. That right there is called copyright infringement. I've worked very hard writing Glitches to Riches since GlitchX last year, and I'm just not ready to change the title. I haven't been writing very much because I've been too busy with work and Doordashing for the past six months. But to start the new era in 2025, I have to focus on finishing writing Glitches to Riches: A Fan's Journey before the end of 2024. Then, before GlitchX 2024, I'll send Glitch an email and ask the important question of the title, Glitches to Riches: A Fan's Journey. If I don't receive an email from them within a month, then I'm going to the Level Up Gaming Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada, and ask them in person. Honestly, being a writer is something that I have been dreaming of since I was a kid. I, too, want to help out the future of Indie Animation. A story to tell all of the SMG4 and Glitch fans that they will never ever forget. Inferno, may I give you a shout-out to my Glitches to Riches autobiography book? It's okay to say no

We're also talking about the behind the scenes stuff of animation. How viv actively causes a toxic workplace for the animators and workers under her. The comparison isnt a competition. Well, technically, it is. Unless everyone shells out money for every show. Since everyone has different tastes. As an animator working on their own YT series myself, I see shows like Helluva Boss and The Great Digital Circus as honestly direct computers. Because they are both comedy shows with some aspects of violence or horror. I would better lump my series in with stuff like Lackadaisy as both are character driven. Mine is a lot less backed than Lackadaisy of course since they have a name and recognition from Webtoons. But, both follow stories of characters that follow relatively serious plot points with some side stories thrown in for good measure.

This is the problem that capitalism has tricked us into thinking that competition is about making a better product rather than it’s actually about making more money. In a perfect world competition is about learning from one another trying to make the next thing better than the last, coexisting to make one another better. But in reality the next thing you make has to get more eyes (aka more money) regardless of quality. And this is very very petty but I also blame Jeffrey Katzenberg, that man truly fucked over how animation should be viewed.
