Lyla June is an Indigenous musician, scholar, and community organizer of Diné (Navajo), Tsétsêhéstâhese (Cheyenne) and European lineages. Her messages focus on Indigenous rights, supporting youth, traditional land stewardship practices and healing inter-generational and inter-cultural trauma.
Last year, Lyla June joined us on the Regenerative Leadership Journey to share her knowledge about indigenous leadership practises. In this clip she shares how in comparison to the Eurocentric view of a leader that has power over people, leadership is seen as a position of responsibility and sacrifice. She spoke about how indigenous regenerative leadership is about empowering our teams, so that leaders become a weaver and facilitator of a co-created vision rather than controlling or dominating from above.
