his paintings of russian country side with horses are breathtaking; no one has painted like him; his bold use of black and white and primary colours is just breathtaking; can never see enough of his work

I came here when I was reading the book of " Man and his symbols" . Kandinsky is mentioned in that book.

I have never been much on Pollock and the later Kandinski works. Early Kandinski I like a lot.

PLEASE FORGIVE my ignorance, but I was under the impression that abstract expressionism was created in America after WW2. This video states that it was created in Europe in the early 1900’s. Could someone clear this up for me please?

You missed the point of the video . These weren't just random cut doodles. I think you need to further you art education s bit.

Could Pollock actually paint or was did he compensate by splattering paint on the canvas? The answer is yes he could paint and like Kandinsky he could paint damn well and demonstrated more conventional techniques in his early works but eventually they both 'found their voice' and developed their own style.
