Remember that copper work hardens. Twist the wire with a vice and power drill and it won't be as soft or you can cold forge for the same effect .

I buy the copper grounding wire, clamp one end in my vise and chuck the other end in my drill. I twist it as much as I (safely) can. Provides tremendous strength to an otherwise flimsy piece of copper and seems to add a slight spring to it as well.

Thay definitely would work, i bet slightly work hardening it would work also. Im going to try working it first. Just bought some ground wire today

Amazon sells 1" diameter high density poly rod (HDPE), a two foot length for $16.96. U.S Plastics sells the same stuff for $22.28 for an 8 ft. length. So for five bucks more you can get four times as much rod. That's crazy.

How important is it to have the rod dead center? Thanks for the info.

With a major artery in your thigh your not concerned with possibly causing a blood clot from tightening that down so much ?

How long is the shaft? Dia?

Why would you use calipers then a wide ass marker? You can eyeball it better with a fine point and be closer to center.

You'd be surprised how "off" people can be when eyeballing, and also how many people want a tutorial on finding center. I usually don't measure it.
