“Home is the absence of all resistance” - Yup that summarises my best trips where all desire is extinguished
@jasg70179 ай бұрын
I think this explains why the lights stopped. When we crave the experience for our enjoyment we block it. One must surrender and no resistance and no desire.. just flow. Desire is the guidance to obtain what we want to experience here, but mistical experience is not really in the menu, insted is like coming humbly to experience what is there for us to experience.
@electricsnut9 ай бұрын
@@jasg7017 Thats sort of what I got, in that to desire something closes to you to all the other possibilities and you become fixated and isolated to it. When I let go of that, trips come to me and its like an entire world being ripped open to me… it was so profound

This was an amazing conversation. The path I am on is so similar. I meditate everyday,Floated over 30 times and have profound visions. I lucid dream almost every night,practicing astral projection and have always seen light in the darkness. Really want to explore the darkness retreat so bad. My friends think I am crazy when I ask them When you close your eyes do you see colors in fractals ??. But this past year has been extra special because I gave up cannabis thinking that maybe it was what was causing my brain to see things. Needless to say it has gotten more intense. The weed was suppressing the full potential of my mind. I get a better high off of breath work meditations. Can’t wait for the next episode ❤

@@THIRDEYEDROPS truly happy to have “spent my Sunday with you both 🙏” Just an FYI, if anything, you helped one soul today, one human being in a very tangible way. Due to my own ego and not wanting to venture into those “dark spaces “, the “voice that makes it easier for you “ always tells me not to currently speak to my brother due to a argument with him about over a month ago. Even if I am “right” and my hypothesis are true, the voice I didn’t want to listen to that says “connect with your brother, the laughter you both shared throughout this lifetime is worth more then bricks of Gold” That’s the voice I didn’t want to hear because I was “right”! After listening to the both of you I legitimately reached out and continued with that special connection again, that in all honesty if I didn’t see this today, I wouldn’t have. You both recharged these beliefs I’ve held sacred to me for years but went astray w them. And hearing this brought a lot of it back to me. This is REAL! You are REAL and so is Erick! Apologies for the long comment but I felt compelled to let you know that via your conversation a long standing relationship was re connected. I am excited to start listening to more of your content. Thank You, Thank You , Thank You 🙏 With Reverence - DV

True as Erick said in my experience about tensions. I still have loads of tensions even after years of inner body awareness practice. It's like there are hidden subconscious tensions that come up to the surface of conscious awareness with mindfulness practice that's focused on feeling the tensions in body and mind.

So grateful for these man. So many great points I picked up while listening. We are clear windows turned to stained windows by our egos and life experiences. This colors our perception of the world outside. Ignorance is unconscious wisdom - to eliminate ignorance by way of wisdom is to make the unconscious conscious. What is unconscious is our pure potential until we are made conscious of it by wisdom.

At 44 minutes where Erick talks about fractal, geometric, twisting mandalas… I saw those at night when I was a child while playing with hypnagogia before I’d drop off to sleep. The mandalas would slowly spin, and if there were two that were touching, the edges would interact, and the colors would melt into each other like some kind of liquid or gas.

I want to come back to this. I teared up several times just witnessing the vulnerability and resonating so completely with the messages and experiences being shared. I’ve long been afraid of the dark, and this goes back to childhood and my fascination with the dark, suspenseful and macabre. I might have been exposed a bit too early and I had “experiences” seeing things that left some imprints. Needless to say, I have been drawn to and terrified of the dark. But my experiences communing with visionary plants, shamanic breathwork, and the weeks and months following during the integration process allowed me to discover untapped potential to do my best work in the dark, in the void. I am naturally quite emotionally permeable and expressive. I have absolutely zero barriers to just collapsing into my heart space and inviting a cathartic release. I have been doing sacred grief work for 15 years following a deeply traumatic loss and later traumatic experiences that led to PTSD. But in between and after those events, I have developed an intimate relationship with my emotional register and have used music, specifically cinematic / epic orchestral and minimalist classical (listening to Dune: Part Two score as I type this - Jungian nerds may appreciate this) as a form of therapeutic release. I’ve done some major excavating of repressed memories, what I liken to an “inciting incident,” that had a ripple effect, peeling back layers from micro moments in time to glimpse in vivid detail the imprints that would come to inform many behaviors or defense mechanisms in the years to come. When we get even more granular, the ancestral wounds, peering into the ancestral lineage / consciousness opens up a whole new dimension of consciousness and knowing. When I share that some of the most impactful and profound experiences have been my encounters with the cosmic womb, the Void, pure consciousness, it doesn’t sound as “epic” or grand as my more peak ecstatic, mind-boggling and blissful states. No. Being absorbed into the cosmic womb felt like death. I was put right back into my PTSD trigger, having to die, while giving birth, to venture into the depths and through the threshold, to be reborn. The mention of being a midwife to one’s own psychic discovery and journeying is incredibly on point. I studied to be a midwife and have worked in this space. The core of my wounds, the events that led me down this existential journey, deal with birth, death and rebirth. Navigating through grief and loss and everything in between that bubbles up and passes into the light and making its way to the conscious mind. The process of unraveling and Becoming and Being. Thank you, thank you, thank you for this wonderful podcast. 🙏🖤✨

Wow this is soooo cool! I have durring the last two years been having this major force towards this darkness, it all “ended” with me building a 3x1,5m steel box totally isolated from both sound and light, so isolated even internelly so it’s like I’m in my mind the moment I get in soundwise. And I’ve experienced exactly what beeing described! But more rapid. Have not heard anywhere about this before. But this is mind blowing to me to hear, I listen to the first hour, and than I had to get down to kind of settle all the energy and thoughts down, so I spent six hours in the box. It’s suck a powerful tool. And so mystical. For me it’s such a sacred place.

This is a fascinating discussion Michael! Thank you so much for talking with Erick about his experiences. Thank you also for clarifying that the Corpus Hermeticum ('Emerald Tablet of Hermes', 'Asclepius', 'Kybalion', etc.) are not as ancient as most people believe. Throughout the Middle Ages and Renaissance, the consensus had been that the Corpus was more ancient than Plato and had influenced the Platonic dialogues, particularly the 'Timaeus'. However, in 1614, the Swiss classical scholar Isaac Casaubon demonstrated, on the basis of philological and historiographic analysis, that the Corpus Hermeticum in fact dated only to the 2nd and 3rd centuries C.E. Therefore, it was Plato and Plotinus who influenced the authors of the Corpus Hermeticum, rather than the reverse. So, strictly speaking, Platonism and Neoplatonisn are not hermetic but, rather, it is hermeticism that is Neoplatonic. However, unlike Renaissance scholars, we no longer believe that the older an idea is the more valuable or correct it is. Fortunately, we now focus on the ideas and teachings themselves and evaluate them on their own terms, rather than based on how ancient they are. So none of this changes the meaning or value of the ideas and spiritual teaching.

What you describe at 41:40ish is exactly what I experience as well. A purplish pulse in my minds eye that almost always gives way to some sort of image that I can't quite make out. I never thought much of this as I thought it was just my actual eyes or retina or something pulsing for some unknown reason. I always lean into it being my third eye and try and let go but inevitably every single time as soon as I start to see some sort of image, it all falls apart as I tried to control it. I know I need to let it happen but its a muscle I need to keep working on I suppose. I've only done shrooms once and did so in darkness while listening to Kirtan. In that experience I felt like I saw a better picture of what this is. It was like a kaleidescope of moving parts. The kirtan was perfect music to ride the waves of consciousness. It felt like I was going everywhere and no where at the same time. Would be super curious if you break through this experience to something else. Just discovered your podcast and can't get enough. Much love!

A great discussion I was pleased to find in my feed. There's no need to speak of algorithms, it's all served from servers. Yes I have spoken with my dragon. I'm not the kind if person who mimics others and mindlessly kills beautiful things. Any mythology exists to teach us of the power were missing and giving away in assumptions, expectations, needs and wants. I suppose one could slowly embody the whole power of the dragon spirit but it hasn't happened in this age of man. It does give you wings of your own to explore new freedoms you have yet to experience. People forget, individuation is a process of self-care and self-discovery, not conquest and slaying fears. We put them to rest by laying them aside and picking out the needs and wants of our peculiar neurosis. I'm as fat as Jung went, as dat as anyone goes, which is the limit of where the divine is prepared to lead you and the discoveries, the potential that can be reached from where we truly stand. Sorry to ramble on but we're all at play on the nature of thought. Take your drugs, find your sport, don't let anyone tell you what or how much it means, that's a value you alone determine. There are no experts only amateur delusions about earning degrees of confidence. People aren't their thoughts, nor the process of thinking, or the feelings aroused by these expressions. We are an interpretation of these transmissions, a chaotic mix of influences and impulses were all trying to organise.

Very insightful, thank u very much for this! One thing that repeatedley comes up for me when i engage with this "topic" is how we interact with music and how memory relates to emotion. My particular subjective expirience with this keeps me engaged on a path i can not really fathom on a rational level and yet it amazes me how magical life becomes. I know few people who engage with the depths of their conciousness on this level and have few reference points for how delusional i am, there are stories i could tell about this that i just choose to keep to myself for reasons some of you might relate, sometimes i feel lonely but yesterday i had this blissfull expirience where i was on quite a bender with a person (lets call him X for now) that gave me my first catharcic expirience, the particular relationship could be explained here in a long tangent but i refrain from this for now. So what happened was that i talked with another good friend and she mentioned she was worried about X, it went back and forth a bit and we went quite deep with it and how trauma and stuff is a process to get through, so after i said i believe in X and her doubting it , just in this moment X walked into the room, i kinda laughed it off. Part 2 of this happened around 24 Hours later, after attending a concert and hitting the bar we went to one of the few bars open late sunday eve, it was an absurd evening and it didnt lack the kind of absurd thing that i expirience a lot. the scene got to the point where it felt like being in a david lynch movie sprinkled with some jungian synchronicities. The thing that made me write out this comment was this almost poetical part: i went to the bathroom, where above the stall there was this david bowie quote that made me teary eyed "The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return", minutes later and a discussion about my ex girlfriend telling x that no one loves him, i told him i do and he did what he usually never does and just hugged me. Me retelling this does not do the expirience justice but the act of writing it down is what i feel like doing.

With all the humility in this world, you two are on the right path with sincere objectives, but you definitely need guidance in your journey. The journey towards stream entry is beyond words and has escaped just about every student, master, lama etc. I began my search at the age of arox. 9 yrs of age. Have read every book on the subject, never cared for the limited views on the subject ,except for watts and jung and Jack Corfield- which is indespendible to this topic. By the way, Jung's insights are just about all based on his ability to go beyond "spiritual materialism, for example the term " collective consciousness" which he rendered from his understanding and translation of the verdict word, "alayavajnana". Another who failed to understand the Eastern teachings whom are relatively known are -Ron Hubert and 3 others, who's mention is not important. If my views seem egoistic please except my oppology for it's not my intention. Together our love gives rise to the god particle.

I'm new at meditation and the other day I was meditating and I had the same I could see in minds eye almost like a hole with a haze almost seemed to swirl and it contracted with my breathe almost like opening and closing back up inside was really no color coming out almost like I could see it but it was dim the next time I seen it was more pronounced and it had a purple color inside. I had no idea that was a thing. When I say new to meditation I mean like 3 weeks little bits at a time. I looked it up bc I was amazed I got anywhere like that. I was shocked that it is reported by many people. I was surprised. Now I try not to expect or hope for anything. It def has made me seek to meditate more and seek inside myself.

I am at a stage where I constantly shift back and forth between "I will be fine, I trust the Universe" and "My life is a train wreck, I am absolutely fucked". To be fair I find it hard to keep up a steady meditation practice, although I know this is pretty much the only way out. I love the Ocean, boat and dragon analogy.

I am terrified of the dark, even just sitting in darkness in my room with a blindfold I have real fears of monsters waiting for this vulnerability and access to attack. I clearly have some deep rooted fears from my childhood

I see these lights you all are talking about. Mine is fluffy like a cloud light neon green. They're actually very beautiful, the first time I seen them I was going through a difficult time in life and was sleeping a lot and started meditating.. they were so beautiful I just wanted to see more. At that time. I kept asking myself.. what is that I'm seeing 🤔... I knew of no one who had had this experience. Thanks for sharing.

Meditation after aprrox 10 mins gets me some purple and blue light pulses. Also occasionally at orgasm during love making but then the colour is more orange. Psilocybin of course can induce the most 'aggressive' and affronting lightshow with closed eyes. It gets very dark here in North East Scotland in winter but im learning to love it. Thanks for this fascinating episode. 👍

I am both dark and light, they dance together. I Can relieve the tension between the opposites through surrender, non-preference. There is no projection of the ego this way, or as little as possible.
