The teaching of highly contested political ideas and social theories as accepted fact is alarming. We don't do this with communism, socialism or capitalism, yet the racism of Critical Race Theory is taught unquestioningly. Similarly, overtly activist groups such as Stonewall, Mermaids and Equaliteach, are given seemingly free reign to promote their gender ideology in schools.

When I was a child, I can honestly say that it never occurred to me to judge someone based on his/her skin colour, religion or sexual identity. Now, the entire culture seems to be obsessed with race and gender identity. Woke ideology is divisive and destructive. Thank you, Calvin, for your efforts to oppose these destructive ideas. i don’t necessarily agree with teaching children about every complex sexuality etc but from as young as 4 years old i knew i was bisexual. my family were strict christian’s and never mentioned gay round me at that point and neither did my school because it was in a rural village. it wasn’t until i told my mum at 5 years old i had feelings for my friend who’s a girl that my mum told me being gay is wrong, but those feelings still continued into adulthood. i can see why you’d think kids are gonna run round calling themselves gay for the trend because it’s already happening, but it’s also important to note some kids are simply born that way no matter what they were taught

Watching this I'm reminded me of a teacher I had in "gymnasiet" in Sweden (equivalent to upper secondary school in Britain) in the mid 80's. I came from an explicit leftist background - and the majority of the students in this school were left leaning too. The teacher I'm thinking of was our head teacher - and he taught civics. Our second year we learned about the different political traditions that was represented in our parliament - i.e. conservatism, liberalism, socialism and, yes, communism. What was so impressive about this teacher was that he was able to present EVERY political tradition with complete objectivity. He presented every tradition in a positive light - but also included the counter arguments. When he taught us about conservatism we thought he might possibly be a conservative - only to wonder if he was a socialist when he taught us about socialism. And I remember how impressed we, his students, were with this! We talked about this amongst ourselves - and that even though we all had the teenager's strong conviction about politics - we thoroughly appreciated what he gave us. I would say my school experience in the 80s was the same and it was an unbiased well rounded education... THIS is what has now been lost. Lessons need to be provided by education departments and adhered to... none of the teachers making their own lesson plans under such Loose guidelines. Now, that is how teaching in the classroom should be done. I had the same experience in the 80's and that was from teachers and lecturers, many of whom were left leaning too. The emphasis then was on objective fact and citing opinion as fact dropped you marks in essays and assignments. It's all gone awry since and largely down to the pernicious influence of relativism and Cultural Marxism which is where political correctness, intersectionality and wokeness all originate from.

She was very confused at my indignation at her attempting to "decolonise" their education by replacing historical figures with local recent immigrants. I’m a black English teacher and when I got into schools I was so confused by the decolonisation ideology. So many books are placed on the curriculum not for merits but for skin colour. Even more confusing was that it was usually black vs white as if diversity only includes two races. Furthermore, there is no analytical content in these books. They are purely for informational / pleasure reading rather than language and historical analysis.

As a retired teacher, l look back on my time in the classroom (30 years) with great warmth and fondness. I started in 1979 and finally retired in 2013. God gave me a career l loved and found very rewarding. It wasn't easy, but the challenges were worked at and - almost always - eventually overcome. But (and it's a huge but) l retired, as l said above, in 2013, so l didn't meet wokery, critical race theory, sexual goodness-knows -what or anything like that. One thing is for sure: had l started a teaching career last week, l'd be gone by Christmas, and that's very sad.

Homeschooling is more practical than most people realize. Homeschooling does not mean that one sets up a classroom and sits there all day and that one has to be a brilliant master of all subjects. It can mean that the student spends time with various trusted adults or family members and institutions, all acting as tutors that encourage one of the greatest gifts possible...the gift of learning to learn, and to love learning. A well read, well adjusted young adult with many edifying experiences will be a citizen of value. A young adult graduating from school will be a wage serf in training. The former is likely to recognize the nuance of a life of faith, beauty and fulfillment, the latter is likely to be an emotionaly drained political activist in search of a safe room.

The best thing I have ever done was to leave the teaching profession. I cannot relate to any of this and refused to. It has been slowly happening for longer than people think. The current infatuation with woke and kindred political issues is also in many private schools. They feel they must follow the trend perhaps. My local private school founded centuries ago, has a fine academic record but now has a dedicated safe room/suite. Children will naturally use it for all manner of reasons just because it is there. Parents should question the need for it, given that a well tried and highly effective pastoral care system is embedded in the school. Pursuing such an agenda does not help to produce well rounded, purposeful young adults able to cope with real life, in my view.

It might be a sign of my age but to see a member of the clergy making a principled stand on a moral issue is something that has been too long in the waiting given what is happening to our society. Thank you. To preface, in an addendum {:)} I have been anti-religious all my life as I find that faith can all too easily be turned to ill use but, eventually, I have been convinced that if a society does not have an organised and authoritative religion then that ‘hole’ will be filled with something worse. EDIT: Oh and the lady in the white linen blouse is exactly the sort of woman we need more of to help take a stand on such matters that threaten our social fabric. We used to have a lot like her, by which I mean intelligent and soft-spoken but with a spine to insist that they should not be taken lightly. That sort of WI spirit has faded and, ironically, I think it was modern Feminism that killed it.

I don't think you need religion per se but you do need some sort of value or moral framework that you adhere to. Religion is nice because it comes with a tested pre-build but if you are careful you can make your own.

@@ullscarf Are you American, ullscarf? I ask not to be rude but because there is a distinct difference in how the ‘church’ is viewed between the US and here. In the U.K. the church is a part of the establishment. It has representation in the government (the Lords Spiritual) and the Crown is the head of the Church (of England). The clergy has been too distant from the reins of power for a couple of generations now and has not been using its voice on moral issues. After all, that is what it’s purpose is - to act as a rudder for the things society considers morally important.

An outstanding programme, thanks so much to Fr. Calvin Robinson for this excellent presentation. Such an important subject. I hadn't realised quite how bad the problem is until watching this programme. Melanie Phillips wrote a superb book called "All Must Have Prizes" back in about 1998 in which she described the dumbing down of education, the belief that mistakes must not be corrected because you might hurt the child's feelings, and similar nonsense. I left school as an 18 year old in the very early 1980s, an excellent comprehensive run along grammar school lines by the headmaster, who retired in 1991 and became an educational consultant. He passed away aged 85 a few years ago and he must have despaired at what is happening in schools now. Part of the problem is that many of the under 50s who teach have themselves been poorly educated and in those in their 20s and 30s you have teachers who are both poorly taught themselves, as well as indoctrinated at school and college. It must be a nightmare for anyone of even slightly right of centre political views now. To me it is all part of a neo-Marxist movement which has its roots in the 1960s, it is all about destroying western civilisation by creating a mass of indoctrinated, ill-educated people who lack critical thinking skills and can then be manipulated easily and turned against a. the idea of the nuclear family b. religion especially Christianity and Judaism c. the idea of national identity and patriotism d. the value of Capitalism, which whilst not perfect is by far the best political system that has ever been tried by humankind (Communism, Marxism and Fascism do not work and between them have led to the deaths of at least 120 million people during the 20th century). In the mid to late 19th century, both Nietzsche and Dostoyevsky predicted that if Christianity weakened, if God died so to speak, then appalling totalitarian tyranny would fill the void. Both men were prophets really, as Dr Jordan Peterson rightly points out. I shudder to think what the now very large numbers of indoctrinated children and younger adults (ie under 50s) will be capable of unleashing on the world. Human life is no longer valued. Euthanasia exists in Belgium, Netherlands and Canada, but not only for those with stage 4 cancer who have no chance of recovery and are in agony. No, it is being offered even to people with disabilities and mental health problems and sadly there are morally bankrupt members of the medical profession only too happy to sign off someone's life. We are living in very dark times, but Calvin is one of those shining a light amidst the darkness, as are the likes of Dr Jordan Peterson, Douglas Murray, Rod Liddle, Robin Aitken, Dennis Prager, Thomas Sowell etc etc. There is still hope but we all have to start fighting back. Sadly the men of my own age group never showed any interest in me, so my partners were often older, foreign or with some sort of foreign connection. So I never had kids, which I regret now. But if I had school age kids now, I would be home schooling them. Calvin points out near the end that this is very much doable, and that there are good materials online and plenty of advice and support. Thanks Calvin for this excellent programme.

Thing that scares me is how willing people are to go along with any new rules and regulations without question. Our freedoms are disappearing before our very eyes and most people seem to not care. Covid was a good test for the world governments to see just how far they could go with their citizens. They found out that there is very little if any push back. I've watched the Heresies series with great interest, but Calvin Robinson's film struck a particular chord with me. His arguments are so solid and convincingly expressed. There are different pedagogical approaches, but I guess you observed the strong Marxism slant, which is certainly now prevalent in schools, given many of the young teachers are already indoctrinated into one branch of communism or another…and their aim is to do the same to the upcoming generation .interestingly, that ties in with the critical theory of the Frankfurt School which infiltrated educational institutions once they arrived in the US. You might want to take a very close look at their overall aims of which thought manipulation of . the young is essential, now carried forward by the descendants ( so to speak) of their subjects to push education in a certain direction.

Children must learn to read, calculate and communicate: teachers might introduce a broad topic for children to educate themselves. I remember the idea of debating a particular issue, and for children to be asked to speak either for or against a proposition; this is real education, being expected to seriously consider either side of a proposition.
