@Stratforvideo At 00:21 Stratfor says: "it was the Dutch who first consolidated large parts of modern day Indonesia..." That is not true! There were Much older empires which consolidated parts of Indonesia and even bigger territories than Indonesia. Long before the Dutch. Examples: Srivijaya (+/- 650-1377) Majapahit (+/- 1293- 1500)

most of the country who support papua free from indonesia also have lots of mining company there. their company sometime don't follow government rule to build local infrastructure, except those who profitable to them like tembagapura town made by freeport, filled with freeport worker. if you think free papua will give good benefit to papuans, re think again. indonesian government alocated trillions rupiah to build papua, one of the bigest one from among indonesian provinces. eventhough government has alocate so much money to build papua, stiff ladmase, uncooperated habbit of some papuan and fertilized corrupt local government by foreign mining company make all that trillions rupiah vanish like a fog. foreign company never trying to help local who didn't give any provit to them actually. they didn't care to people. in other way, this foreign mining company hate so much the government rule that force them to build local people like this. if they build school, road or any infrastructure, believe me. it's not because they care, but because they don't have any choise if they still want their company alive in papua. from all that mining company, freeport was one of the most asshole among all. for more than 4 decades since the fall of soekarno era, freeport always using money and bribe the local government and national government so that they can do what ever they want, including destroying nature, arrest local who mining gold debris from river where freeport throw their waste which is legal actually for this local to do that, and bribe government official so that indonesian only got 1% of all total freeport income from mining gold. yes, only 1% from all that billions dollar provit. and this 1% must be share to local and national government. if you think government exploit papuan's natural resource and take all that to java and feed java, congratulations!! you've been fooled by western media. the real truth is, foreign company, mostly freeport bribe government official so that they can suck papua's natural resource like a leech. now, now, now... after President Jokowi sit at his throne, he decided to end all that corrupt culture who fertilized by foreign company. he create all needed rule so that indonesian people, specially local people [papuans] get some provit from that mining activity. jokowi make rule to force that mining company to have shelter in papua to make sure all antural resource no more corrupted by this mining company. by having shelter, government can monitoring all resource who ahve been exported from papua and those give benefit to indonesia, specially for papuan because if this company build their shelter in papua, papuans got thousands of new job to work on that shelter. and yes. that foreign company don't like this shelter rule and you know what, freeport threaten the government because they don't want to build shelter in papua. they even say that they will drag indonesian government to the international court because of this. but not jokowi his name if he can't force freeport to build shelter. and yes, freeport finally agree to build their shelter. about that 1% from before, good news is now jokowi able to make sure that freeport will Mandatory Divestment of Shares 51 Percent in total, which mean government will get more money to build more infrastructure in various place in indonesia. now indonesia have so much infrastructure project to do, some of them are in papua, like 3720km trans-papua road, trading and transportation sea port, renovation and new airport, new power plants tomake sure no more region in papua didn't get electricity in 2019 and also, to cut corruption culture made by foreign corrupt mining company. about abusing human law, do you think OPM [free papua movement] never do such a thing like that? for years, opm has kill so much papuan to reach their ambition. they also got money from other nation to create chaos in some place. the amount of papuan who killed by opm is more than the amount of papuan who killed by cops/soldier. and it's multiplied.

my brother and sister, these days they are also tried to create a 'balkanization' of Indonesia through religious issues. Recent political events gave them huge opportunity to break our oath of unity over diversity. While Muslims are majority in Indonesia, it is mostly on java and Sumatra island, a lot of other areas are animist, Christian, Hindus, etc. The reason why Piagam Jakarta was revised and why Indonesia was a secular country.

that's right. at first, it's hard for the founding fathers like president soekarno to make all indonesian teritory to agree become indonesian beause of it's background. one thing foreigner should know is, after proclamation day, there's teritory in indonesia who refuse to join with indonesia. for example the kingdom of east sumatera in north sumatera province. that kingdom was actualy designed as a federal nation with 3 states. karo kingdom, simalungun kingdom and deli sultanate which medan in deli sultanate as it's capital city. also in riau province, that time they even want to become an independent nation due to it's malayan culture are different with javanese culture. but then the founding father are able to ask them to agree to join as part of indonesia. based on religion, one of the most crucial part of unification process was on the eastern indonesia, where their native people are christian, hindu and animism as majority until today. at first they refuse to join with indonesia because of piagam jakarta. to those who don't know, piagam jakarta was planning sharia as national rule inside pancasila at the 1st sila/rule. the eastern indonesia didn't want to become indonesian because of this sharia rule, except if the founding fathers agree to change it. and the founding father then agree, which lead other teritory also agree to join with indonesia as one nation.

If there were to be a very large volcanic eruption in or right around Java - same size as Pinatubo or Krakatoa or larger (100-200x or more bigger than the recent Semeru blast, which was spectacular and terrifying enough) - it would most likely ruin Indonesia's economy to an even greater extent than the 1997-98 financial crisis. Not to mention lower global temperatures by a good 2F (or 1C) or more for at least a year or two, with potential implications for food supplies everywhere.

@TheMap1997
@TheMap1997 8 жыл бұрын
+Ferdian Khu Disadvantage? What kind of disadvantage? For almost 70 years of this states existent, it has been filled with corruption and unnecessary bureaucratic process that has many disadvantages that hindered the local government ability to build its government. We need a federalized government or at least high decentralization of government powers from national level and give more power to the provincial/local government. Because of our unitary form, local government before they can pass any legislation or make any expenditure for lets say infrastructure, they need they legislation and FUNDING pass the national government, this however create problems because sometimes the legislation fail to pass or funding is not accepted and also there is a long useless bureaucratic process , thus the the project is sometimes deemed to fail. Notable example in my home province of south sulawesi where the funding of our FIRST train railway got stuck after only FEW MONTHS after it started, because the funding halt by the central government. If we have decentralized government we can pass the funding more efficiently from the tax. That's the advantages we'd have. If you afraid that you "home town" will have a differed form of rules than in Java, it's irrational. Because, the local government in federal or highly decentralized will have more obligations to fulfill the need of their local citizens, unlike in our current state where they have to obliged to the central government more than it's local citizens, why by the way is totally wrong in our republic constitution. So don't worry about it. At least, this is my view.

Dude is you have a problem that the Turks won North Cyprus than Greece or Byzantines shouldn't lost the war against the Ottomans. Cyprus was for approx. 500 years under Ottoman rule. The regions were fairly conquered by the Turks. We didn;t colonized, go learn what colonizing is, or just look what Europeans did in India, Latin america, Indonesia, Africa. You can then also say the same to USA that people of USA should give the ground back to the Indians.

Most believe that Islam came from arab around 625. even tho buddhism and hindu came a long before islam does. the 2 religion is not quite accepted in indonesia, but i not say all indonesian, theres even a kingdom based with those 2 religions. back to islam, when islam came from arab theyre quite accepted by people, and also let just say islam spread by good preaching and a lot of local marriage with islam foreigner. and also if they want to marry islam they must convert to islam. because converting to islam is simple theyra accepted(even tho if you leaving you'll have great punishment). and goes and goes and goes. that make islam is majority in Indonesia. oh yeah don't forget about Christian, they are spread by western but have a very bad reaction from local. and you know why? because of COLONIALISM. Lets just say, islam is spread in Indonesia with a good way and other religion mostly doing it bad. Don't get offended i just saying the truth about how islam spread in Indonesia

Edo Reutama Indonesia became a Muslim-majority country under the Dutch colonial era. The Dutch had a policy of converting heathens to Protestantism but did not extend this policy to Muslims. Meaning that the vast majority of Indonesians at the time who were polytheists (Hindu and Buddhists or animists) had the choice of converting to Protestantism or Islam. While I'm not 100% sure why Islam then became the dominant belief system, I can imagine that because Protestantism was what was being pushed by the colonizers, the colonial subjects would naturally look to choosing something else. And that something else, which the Dutch also found acceptable, was Islam.
