This episode discusses the recent successes of Indonesia's partners in ASEAN, the role of the USA and China in the region, and how Indonesia might pivot as we move into the 21st century. Housed in the context of Indonesia's place in the dynamic Asia-Pacific region, discussions of wealth inequality, oligarchy, and the inability for Indonesia to capitalize on its vast potential as a regional powerhouse are prominent. Jeffrey Winters engages the conversation about the obstacles to Indonesia's future prosperity in an uncertain global future while detailing the rising Indonesian scholars' optimistic role in navigating these challenges.

Halo Pak Jeffrey, I think you are very exeptional with what you are hopeful for Indonesia. Thank you for your frank words and point of view of Indonesia. Lacking sense of urgency, in my view, might be the result of too much information that we now are exposed to, so that we cannot see what exactly the most important for us. What actually we really need now, and which way should we need to take now. I think this will need a role of the govt to direct the use of social media and the content of information that have to be in the public to build the sense of urgency. Example, too many uneducated homeless people, too many unresponsible driver/rider on road, too expensive qualified education. Those are what I think is urgent, but how do we know that other people will have the same sense of urgency as I have? Especially how to make sure that the govt of the day think that that is urgent? As this will link to the political will of the govt itself.

Just finished watching this in one sitting. By far, this episode resonated the most with me because of the optimistic outlook that Pak Jeffrey Winters and Pak Gita are trying to build on Indonesia and the region. My channel's audience demographic is slightly younger and this podcast is helping me redirect the ideas I'd like to communicate with them. Thank you for delivering a wonderful one, Pak Gita and team.

Pak Gita. Trims pak Gita, the next Mr President. By Awin Jambi

Everytime i saw Pak Gita Podcasts, it always gave me an eye opener moments of what we will face in the future as Indonesian in many perspectives. The perspectives you gave to us in each episodes is so diverse yet it enrich our mindset and triggered us to find a away of how we could find the best way to shortcut the gap that happened right now scientifically, geo-politically and geo-economically and even artistically. As a new generation in officials, i really want to be a part of the change here despite all of the challenges that we had related to bureaucracy. And i believe that many youngster in public sector would do the same, since we have bring the spirit of meritocracy since the very first we enter the government world by a very competitive and transparant recruitment process. With the spirit of meritocracy that we build in the government, we really hope that we could play our role here in bureaucracy and prove that we could be the same or at least could chase the level of competitiveness of the start-ups or many leading private sectors in terms of giving the best public services to people. I really believe that mentoring method in public sector will play a key role for change in terms to develop both hard and soft skills of each civil servant individuals, especially the young generation. The importance of collaboration in terms to cut off the ego-sectoral that could implicates to an "ego-application phenomenon" is no less important, whereas the integration and function enrichment could be the answer. We really hope that you could keep motivates and creates an eye opener content for us like this, and without a doubt, you also have contribute to wider the path in terms to reach the goal of a Golden Indonesia 2045. Thank you Pak!

Isu seperti komunis dsbg yg klasik, terlalu dibesar² kan".

Namun issue ini selalu diblow up terus. Bagaimana cara manusia Indonesia tidak terdistract about issue religion setiap menjelang pemilu presiden. Everybody knows bagaimana cara memanaskan masyarakat indonesia menjelang pemilu. Religion is the most issue. Maybe next harus ada aturan not talk about religion every pemilu. Maybe. Of course sesuai sila 1 Pancasila, ketuhanan yang maha esa. Kita bangsa yang berkeTuhanan. But Tuhan or religion gak ikut berpolitik. Jadi politisasi religion is a cruel.

I have no more than agreed, Pa Jeffrey. Mental legacy from Orde Baru era still clouding most of Indonesia's top-notchs and in general we are the Indonesian are patronal society. If I may say that we are following the elders blindly and too afraid to challenge (in positive way) the parents. it seems just religiously and culturally inappropriate.

The "Bagi-Bagi Game" is exactly why Indonesia is not in urgency to transform, because most of the so-called "leaders" are in their comfort zones. There can't be urgency if you're not hungry. It will only happen when the baton has been passed on to the generation of people with better vision, character, morality, mindset, work ethic.

Saya rasa Indonesia butuh saya.

The best thing i loved from this podcast is it always slapped me in the face with different angle when every new episode come, to tell me the hard truth and reality. But funny enough for me, theres actuallly already an answer for the debate of the best political system, which is islam, thats actually like what china implement, only one leader with no other parties. But the problem is, there are no more figure that can runs the system like Prophet Muhammad Shallallahu Alaihi Wassalam. So for me, it needs extra effort to not only rebuild the government system and the people, but also the religious leaders, to not only talk about prayer and sins, but to talk about the bigger vision of Indonesia and how it will also benefit religiously. Thank you.

100% agree. That's also what I was thinking of while watching and listening to this discussion. esp. when Winters said democracy is failing people. To me, Islam can be the solution. If we can look close enough to what Islam has taught in terms of governing a nation, we have the best successful example of a system and a figure of all time. And to me, it's not impossible to apply the same system to this country.

Kenapa Indonesia harus jadi world leader.

Wow..the best of Endgame episodes I've watched so far, and by far. Pak Gita n Jeffrey started off so high up. Basically about the nature of power, which always a difficult topic to unravel if not mystifying. Starting high up, only natural they went down a notch or two when they talked about democracy, Vietnam n orde baru. Then, the whole climate change thing is real, but should be nothing new. All very similar with (Yuval) Harari's view. Yet, yes, it is the most important topic for anyone still living in planet earth. More of this kind of thing, please.

These is a mind blowing discussion. the vision of a bright and optimist generation of future Indonesia should have. I'm more exiting to hear this discussion on an "off air" situation so that would aside the limitation on how you and Jeffrey feel "taboo" to talk. And quite a few times Jeffrey try to not to get into the sensitive issues. which I believe we all should be more open minded and have a strong willing to thrive and the urgency to. We can and we will be #Indonesiabisa suka saya dengan konten Bapak....

Kalau saya pribadi pak, tidak setuju kalau indonesia balik lagi ke zaman pak harto. Anak- anak beliau, tak menjadi contoh panutan hidup saya.

I really enjoyed seeing the insight of brilliant minds. Though most politicians don't know what the future will like they give us tools to figure out what would happened "if, this and that took place.." Best of luck and success. Grüß aus Hannover.
