President Widodo says in 9.53 : "...Indonesia adalah negara dengan penduduk muslim terbesar di dunia..." means "...Indonesia is a country with the largest Muslim POPULATION in the world...". Indonesia IS NOT a Muslim nation, because Indonesia has 6 official religions, be careful with that. Plurality is the major soul of Indonesia, its written in Indonesia's constitution, in Indonesian symbol, it's named "Bhinneka Tunggal Ika" (Unity in Diversity).

@@edge4367 not that i am aware of. Christians are still a big minority. My school st. Laurensia ( a catholic school) recently opened a new branch, but the construction was delayed due to the people in the area not wanting any catholic schools and churches near them. It is actually kind of sad. But there are some areas which are christian majority, and the same thing is happening to the muslims in there. Its actually sickening how intolerant the people here can be.

This should be distinguished from Mehulika's translation of "...We are the world's largest Muslim nation" since Indonesia does not hold Islamic law as national law nor is its government run in Islamic manner.

But you do have to admit, the language gab between the two must've played it's part. The way Jokowi answers timidly, with general statements must've made the journalist feel that she wasn't really given an answer. This piece was for an international audience they must've tried to put forth questions with western values to have more appeal, so you can't really blame the journalist for doing her job the topics she brought forth were probably meant as a chance for Jokowi to clarify things.

From my point of view the journalist tried her best to promote Indonesia, she pointed out the skeleton's in the closet that might have been the only thing foreigners have ever heard of about Indonesia and gave a chance for Jokowi to break stereotypes and biases. Those were not meant to attack, she might not have delivered the questions perfectly, but that doesn't mean the questions given aren't important.

Nebiros21 well you're right.. Indonesian here, the only problem of Jokowi's presidency is conflict between Indonesia-Australia for execution of Australian drug smuggler. Duterte is great, he is so popular for making Philippines a saver place.
