Vespas have been popular in Indonesia since the 1970s, but one group of enthusiasts have been hitting the road with modified versions of the classic Italian scooters. Their passion has created an entire culture known as Vespa Extreme, attracting thousands of self-taught craftsmen who turn their rides into unique vehicles using creative designs ranging from the practical to the outrageous. Regional meetups can draw as many as 50,000 enthusiasts, all trying to outdo each other. The competitive Vespa Extreme culture has also forged a brotherhood of mostly young men who try to find freedom and express their individuality through their modified scooters, as they support each other on the road.

3 houses from mine is the gathering of this community, they all kind despite their appearance. They love nature and grow quite a lot of flowers in the backyard. They usually clean a lot of trash and take some to make a handicrafts and sell it in some kind of night market yearly wich their community organized to sell some cloth, home made handicarft, accessories, even aquarium waterscape and flowers. Every night, they always made a lot of coffee for the other neighbors to join them chatting infront of their home.

Had no interest in Vespas but I must say these people solidarity is really high. Not only to fellow Vespa riders but also to others riders on the road. They wont hesitate to help a troubled motocycle when they encounter one.

1. they drive so slow it makes traffic real bad, indonesian road is not wide 2. the emission that their machine releases is so heavy, it is stink and it makes the environment bad 3. they have no licenses 4. they have no proper job 5. most of them still young and they influence other poor youngster into thinking this is cool. i have no problem with their creativity but surely theres a lot of things that can be improved

@@ferdikristianto You probably never knew the people behind it, i've been interviewing many vespa enthusiasts at their gathering. 1. Cant argued, the irresponsible parkking of car-motorcycle and unlicensed vendor is to blame, asks them why Indonesia's road is so narrow, packed and jammed. 2. Emmision? Your local tractors, ANGKOT or Buses did more emmision per year (times their numbers) 3. SIM C is required to drive it. 4. Bruh, you're talking about every roadman is jobless, FYI: Those you saw at gathering is mostly richer than your family for 4 generation's wealth combined, they did it for fun and hobbies, they book their family in a hotel accomodation while they slept on roads and fields as sign of brotherhood. 5. Bad influencens? Those youngster mostly is skilled craftmanship after graduating vocational school. A skilled welders, technicians, auto-painters and ironsmiths, but if you ask them they'd be humble and said they didnt say attend school, to not insult you for them making twice average of regional minimum wage with many vacation to spare and a family to met every days. They are An Indonesian-made hipster so distinct is hard to come by in other countries.

@@RHD_lantz we are talking about why many indonesian people are embarassed right? so general view is the one that matters.. 1. irregular parking also one of the factors of traffic jam, but you cant deny too that this "modified vespa" is also one of the factors.. its minor though if you take in comparison lol 2. angkot and buses emission is bad, true that is also one of many things we regret of having.. still didnt change the fact that this "modified vespa" emission is bad though.. 3. for the driver yes sim c is needed for regular motorbikes, these vehicle i dont think its regular motorbikes though.. and licenses for the machines? as far as i know they do not have the licenses for the machines because they collect it piece by piece and have it modified then put it together.. thats why the "shape" of vehicle is weird 4. well, as far as my knowledge goes that the enthusiast really dont have a proper job, they become a illegal parking security, a busker, some of them are beggar.. maybe a couple of them have background and do this for hobbies, but surely it does not speak for the entire community.. again we are talking in general view
