My corn plant is approaching 9ft (hitting the ceiling) had her first flowers this year. She also put out a new shoot right from the pot. I don't do anything special, just use rainwater to water, and wash off the leaves. The flower spikes are spectacular, and the scent is heavenly!

you should be the one making the video, its crazy to me that all these care videos include young plants that just came from the nursery, they should have ones that are thriving indoors not ones that just came from being pampered in a greenhouse nursery, also they should be talking how the make it bushy ,how to prune etc, some like it tall, some like it short and bushy

I have a corn plant that is around seven feet tall, it touches my ceiling. I have cut it down to to around five and a half feet before. I hardly ever water and have not fertilized, the leaves on green and healthy. I washed the leaves yesterday. I just don't understand how this plant grows. I know one thing over watering is not good because the leaves will turn yellow. I just thought I would share.

I actually enjoyed your video so thank you for sharing. My question to you is , I own a corn plant myself and actually it's doing pretty well I think. But out of the 5 stocks 4 of them only have shoots. It's as if this one stock has died or become dormant. There was a time when this stock had at least one nice shoot and showed the start of a new one. But for whatever reason it died. So do I remove it, will it affect the rest of the plant..?

This was great! I do have this plant at home. And I am worried about it. I’ve had her for one year and I recently repotted it in January and gave her potting mix from Miracle Grow. (Probably not the best time of year to repot.) She sits by an east window behind a white curtain so her light is filtered. Lately she has been getting brown spots and the leaf tips are browning and I’m not sure if it’s the soil I used. Any help?

I bought one 4 years ago medium size. Grew beautifully n November I moved n becuz of its size I had to transport it in the back of a truck. So my plant endured wind n cold for 10 minutes ripping most of the leaves. Over a period of a month the leaves died off leaving about 6 at the top of the plant. I figured the plant wpuld die but I've got new growth like crazy....only at the top tho. So I've got this big "trunk" approx 2 ft tall with the "plant stalk" growing out of it approx 5 ft tall with about 15-20beautiful leaves growing out of the top. My question is.....should I cut the stalk from the trunk near the new growth n root it in water then replant it?

Advice please. My corn plant seems to be dying. When I bought it it was very healthy and bushy, with tons of leaves. The bottom leaves have slowly turned completely brown and crunchy. I pulled them off then within maybe a week the next set of bottom leaves start turning completely brown. I’m definitely not overwatering and it gets good light indirectly. I haven’t fertilized yet but it’s only maybe 4-5 months old. Can I fertilize now in winter? Should I water when it’s all the way dry or just very top dry? Vegas water has a lot of chlorine/fluoride, could this be the cause? Thanks

I’ve heard that brown tips can have to do with too much mineral deposit in the soil! You can look up how to leach your soil to remove the extra salts/minerals and see if that helps

@@SarahMele ok thanks! I will look into it. We have also had a ton of rain in past 3 weeks so im thinking it could be from too much water. but the Nieghbors lawns are not yellowing, so might be what you suggested, unless our soil just won't drain as well as the neighbors. Thanks

Hello. Thanks for the video. Just bought one. Question...I'd like tp repot it out of the store pot into a bigger one. Does that one have to have a hole in it? I'd rather not have water dripping onto my floor. Thanks again.

Abena425 it has to have drainage if not the plant will rot at the root. You can purchase the tray to go underneath your pot.

Or use a nursery pot inside a decorative pot with stones at the bottom to mimic humidity

I just bought a 4ft. corn tree. It sat for a week in its original store plastic jug and the bottom leaves began turning yellow/brown so, I just repotted it today. I bought some really good soil at Lowes w. fertilizer however I want to know if I actually potted it correctly. I know we're suppose to place something over the hole in the pot for drainage. The soil I purchased came with a 4inch. piece of wood about 2 inches thick. I used that for the hole. I'm nervous b/c I don't know if I over watered it and maybe covered the hole. I don't want to drown the plant. PLEASE , how do i know, if I did?

Viviana de Jesús I water mine until water comes out the bottom of pot..surely the wood you placed on top drainage hole will still let water pass through?

My grandson got a corn plant at the end of March when his pawpaw passed away. It did good all summer. About a month ago some leaves started turning brown. I repotted it for him a few weeks ago and got all the brown leaves off. He said some of the leaves are turning brown again. It's in a corner that gets indirect sunlight and he mists the leaves with water and waters it when it feels dry to the touch. What do we need to do?

You're watering it too much. I only water mine around every couple months otherwise it browns. Water it once you notice the leaves to brown after not watering it for a while

Just got this plant off the self cuz it looked cool. Got home. Read stuff about it. And it said it was poisonous to cats and dogs.. should I be taking this risk of having this plant and having a cat?
