Fantastic! I used to rush home from school to watch this c.1975 -- complete with Fred and his pint and pipe before teatime, let alone before the watershed. And his half-time sign off before the adverts became a catchphrase at my school: teachers in Somerset were bemused by boys saying ``I'll s'thee!'

Fred’s enthusiasm and genuine admiration for the players was great to watch. Smoking a pipe and drinking beer whilst presenting was of it’s time but I have no problem with it, this was brilliant television.

I used to love watching this just to hear the fantastic theme tune. It was around 1977 when I first saw this show, and if I can rember correctly, there was bar billiards and even arm wrestling!! It was always broadcast around lunchtime.

Quality 'Northern' TV! They moved it from prime time to daytime. Imagine CBeebies showin drinkin, smokin & pub games nowadays!!!! Know what I'd have sooner watched. Tracy Beaker or Indoor League, no competition.

I have got to recreate "Indoor League" are you with me brothers? Im off to Barnsley to see if its still a hotbed for skittles,peeling "floppers" off as easy as removing your cap. Alan Brown is definately a Shov'hapenny hustler and lost his first game in 2004 at the age of 65,he put this down to blindness brought on by lead infusion from special ha'pennies he used to train with. Halcyon days and i guarantee a surefire hit if this was resurrected. I have the backing i just need the talent!
